  1. Think about what you want from the car as I'd never want to drive my Elise every day in all weather conditions. It's not an uncomfortable drive, it just gets awkward for daily use and mine hates crawling around in slow moving traffic.
  2. My S2 Elise has the super reliable K Series VVC. They are such simple cars to maintain and fix and very light on consumables, worse thing about them is access as your constantly removing the rear diffuser and big jobs like rad replacement (another super reliable part ) is front clam off job. People always ask me if it's fast and I just say it's quick enough but I've been in an Exige 240s and that thing leaves me in its dust.
  3. VX/Elise isn't 100% convertible but does give you an open top experience like no other and you don't get bashed around by the wind either.
  4. I found this especially cheap and tacky in the Evora 400....
  5. They've made an appreciating classic worthless.
  6. I found the non SC 2zz Elise a little lacking low down and around town you never get chance to hit the second cam which cam make it feel a little slow due to the lack of torque. If money was no problem then a £40k+ Elise Cup would be on my shopping list but you can get similar performance for a lot less in the form of a SC S2. Went out in an Evora 400 a couple weekends back, that thing with the exhaust valve open is crazy loud (too loud for most UK tracks). It's very fast but would liked it to have a higher revving engine and I think it's a lot of money to spend, personally I don't think it's worth the asking price, it's still a little cheap inside and has usual Lotus knocks and rattles.
  7. Depends how you define best but nicest has to be the current 520D Tourer. Most fun would be the S2 Elise 111s followed by our old Swift Sport. I'm really struggling what to buy next as I love my current cars but fancy a change. Thinking GT86, Civic Type R, Cayman, M135i.
  8. Took me a while to figure out those temp controls in a is300h.

    BMW E89

The sdrive 18i I had was 8 speed with paddles. I don't quite get why it needs 8 gears, the changes are very smooth but motorway overtakes take a few downshifts. Personally I'd only have a manual, the 8 speed did weird things when in auto mode, if you floored it the revs would rise then a second later it would engage a gear and off you went.

    Integra DC5

Do you still need to get some under car sealant sorted on an import DC5. I'm sure the DC2's had none.
  11. I've driven an is300h and I'm not sure if it's just the cvt gearbox but I'd rather have a 3/5 series. Big discounts on the F10 5 series at the moment as it's about to be replaced by the G30 5 series, you can get upto 30% of list price.

    BMW E89

Latest idrive is pretty good and simple to use. I've had an E85 in the past and recently was given a brand new fully specced E89 sdrive 18i 8 speed auto for the week while my E92 had some work done. I'm not a fan of autos but the 8 speed is pretty fancy, 18i lacked power though and it wasn't that quick and which made it hard to push the car to its limits and a bit dull and safe to drive. Cabin is a little cramped but it's a nice place to be with the usual BMW quality. If I was to buy one I'd look at a 6 pot engine. The 2.0 turbo in the 18i was terrible on fuel only managing low 30's on the motorway, it also had some kind of fake sound generator which was funny at times as it made a lot of noise without really making any progress. Front end takes some getting use to but no different to the E85, is very long and you sit quite far back so it's something to be wary of coming from a 350z. I clipped a rear wheel in my 350z a week after swapping my E85 for it, the 350z feels like a boat compared to the z4.
  13. Bmw's newer B47 190ps diesel engine isn't bad at all, we have it in our 520D and it has plenty of performance and very good running costs. Feels loads better then my old N47 320D
  14. Series 2 Elise isn't that bad on long trips. I've done a 140 mile trip before and it's surprisingly comfy, it's the noise that gets to your after a while and if it's hot you need working air con (which most don't have) as it gets very very hot when stuck in traffic.
  15. Renault Zoe, Super car performance of the line.
  16. There are big discounts on M135i's at the moment, worth getting a PCP quote on one of them.
  17. M Sport wheel in the E92 is nice and perforated leather, very chunky with thumb rests. The newer Fxx cars have a slightly thinner wheel but nicer soft touch leather.
  18. The Outlander Phev gets no where near its cliamed 150mpg. Guy at work has just got one, his commute is 45 miles, 10 miles from work it claimed 840mpg, once he was home the average was 41mpg. His old volvo diesel got better but he saves a fortune on company car tax in the Outlander. Most reviews are claiming low 40 mpg.
  19. I fell on my knee playing football and heard a pop. Left if for a couple weeks but pain at rear didn't go away and I struggled to put weight on it when past 90 degrees. I get private through work so had an appointment and mri 2 days after ringing up, verdict was a ruptured ACL. Had the op in January and wasn't really expecting how slow the recovery was going to be. I've got 4 months of physio and won't be playing footbal for another 7-8 months.
  20. My E92 has a big sister now, an F11.
  21. First mod I did on my E92, that and white led angel eyes...
  22. Evora's of the same age haven't dropped much below 30k in the past year.
  23. Your money would be safe in a V6 Exige or Evora S but you can get a similar drive alot cheaper if you look at S2 Exige/Elise. An Evora would be much easier to live with everyday.
  24. Check the speed you can get. 17mbs is the max, you may get alot less then that. I'd go fibre if you download alot or game.
  25. I've been using this soldering iron for a few years now. Got it in the sale so paid a little less. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/pro-iroda-solderpro-50w-gas-soldering-iron-kit-n12ar
