  1. If you like Italian, pizza and pasta then vapianos is great for lunch, its just of oxford street and i always make sure I visit when in London, its cheap aswell. I really like the steak houses aswell, last one I visited was in covent garden and was great if a not a little expensive.
  2. All VX220's are rare now, there was a moonland grey Turbo in the local Lotus dealership before christmas that was going for around £12k but i didnt have the money to buy it. Wouldnt mind a VX220 but next to an Elise its going to lose out everytime for me.
  3. I rarely see Z's in leicester, i think ive seen a total of 4 maybe 5. Did go past a silver car on st margarets way leicester last sunday though around 3pm.
  4. If I was to use the car every day I would lean more towards a later Toyota engines elise as there a bit more user friendly. I don't think there's any problems with the S2 k series cars if you look after them and allow them to warm up before giving it some. As for the Alfa, its a nice car to drive and be in. We have a diesel lusso which pulls well but I'm not a fan of diesel. It's had a few common niggles but overall its fun to drive and handles well. Looks great too and you don't see many on the roads.
  5. The only thing with the elise is it'll be the most expensive to buy so i may have to wait longer. My ideal car would be a S2 111S K Series and i went to look at a standard S last month but the finances are not in place yet. You dont get much for your money but there cheap to run compared to a 350Z when it comes to tax and fuel.
  6. The new toy wouldnt be an everyday car as i car share more now to get to work, i dont know if the STi would be a fun car as it seems too pratical.
  7. I had to sell my 56 plate GT to help fund our first house after less then a year of ownership and now we're starting to earn a bit more and will moving from a fixed rate mortgage i'm after a fun weekend car again. I still have my 88 MR2 but she's getting old and i car share alot more now for work in the other halfs Alfa GT. The 350 use to be my everyday car and i'm after something fun again that i can play with and rejoin the Jap car scene. My shortlist of cars is a 313 Roadster, Evo 8/9/X, Hawk Eye STi/GB270 or an early S2 K Series Elise. Any opinions, anyone had a Scooby as i really like the idea of a WRX STi?
  8. I can recommend CS, had my service done by them and would go back if i still had the car.
  9. I didnt think there was a factory fit option for parking sensors on the 350Z they were fitted by the dealers who would use different systems. When mine broke i fitted a £13 kit of ebay and they worked just as good as the £300 kit the dealer fitted.
  10. You first need to set a budget and decide what features you want, sat nav, ipod etc. Take into account in cost about £50 for a fascia and wiring loom with patch lead.
  11. The satnav unit has no video inputs so can't really be used for anything else, it is however a stand alone system and runs independently of the headunit. It's just sound you will lose unless you wire it into ur aftermarket headunit.
  12. Both would be an improvement in quality over the stock headunit. I would normally always pick Alpine but that alpine headunit although decent only as a single 2v preout which limits you if you ever wanted to expand your system and add amps for your speakers and a subwoofer. Saying that though you could still run an amp for your fronts and a subwoofer/amp but you wouldnt have full control from the headunit.
  13. The source is always the biggest limiting factor. Ipod,USB,AUX is another reason i always start with the headunit. Its the same with home audio. I use to have 2 12" Pioneer subs, they sounded awesome as i was running them of a PG Amp. Running the same subs of a basic Kenwood amp they sounded pants.
  14. You seemed to miss the non bose part so I was just reiterating what I had said. You could have awesome speakers but if the amp driving them is pants there always goin to struggle to sound their best.
  15. Headunit swap is always first on my list, did it with our Alfa GT and just done it on a mates Celica gen 7, both some loads better running stock speakers.
  16. Surely the headunit has to be first, changing this and using the bose amp/speakers ro even non bose speakers will be a big improvement which will be more then enough for most people. To keep the existing headunit and try and swap out speakers and then amp them of the stock headunit would be a pain.
  17. You ideally want a 2 way component set for the fronts unless you want to get real creative with a 3 way set but you'll need to find somewhere to mount the usually 4" mid. I didnt bother replacing the rears as i only ever used them as rear fill due to the fronts producing most of the sound. The JL TR650Csi are £100 and produce good quality sound, there not to deep either, i cut of the existing speakers to make a mount for the JL's.
  18. I find 99% of the time changing the headunit can make a big difference, it did with the 350Z. Just done the same with our Alfa GT with bose and its loads better using stock speakers.
  19. Get the car up in the air and check the inside of the disks and pads. My disks and pads looked ok from the outside but when getting serviced and i saw the inside it was alot more worn and they needed replacing soon then i was expecting.
  20. If your looking at UK cars then get one with Bose as it'll also have heated leather seats and cruise making it a GT spec and easier to sell on later.
  21. I've been looking for a decent plate for ages but can never find one that is personal to me. Bought a Alfa GT from a franchise dealer that we're picking up tomorrow and it has D7 GBO on the plate and dont see any reason to take it off although it means nothing to me.
  22. The nav screen stays in place and never actually comes out as its bolted to the car.
  23. My car was a GT 300 with Bose and i'm pretty sure it was the pins i quoted. I no longer have the car so unable to check but looking back at the wiring diagram i used it does say pins 30,31,32 so i'm not sure where i got those numbers from unless thats what i found when it came to fitting it.

  25. Nothing wrong with Alpine Speakers and Amps, their PDX amps are very nice aswell and along with some Type R/X speakers you'll have a really nice system.
