My other half drives a 2004 VW Beetle ragtop in a cream colour. It was treated from new with that scratch guard type stuff( she had it just 3 years or so) 3 owners and highish mileage. Paint is like brand new not even swirls on it. I was pleasantly surprised how well made it is. We dont use any fancy foam or stuff like that just wash/wax and a hand sponge. Nissan take note!

I prefer the Zed pearly storm white to the Duke version ( next door has one in that colour) just looks dull! Any white van driver would be proud.

Excellent so there is hope! This will be my last sports car though and this time its staying as long as I can keep it so dont want it spoilt by duff build and cost issues... Oh well get my Ditchfinder ready for sale then I can worry about a 370.

Plastic bumpers /parts as mentioned shrink, stretch and flex due to the nature of the material compared to metal which does not flex as much. The primers and of course topcoat needs to compensate for this flex or it would just flake off after a short time. Plasti-paint primer and top coats specifically designed for such parts, but as with all things I wonder if the cars are sprayed in 1 go. I would expect the main body is sprayed in 1 piece and the bumpers and other expernal parts added further down the production line, I guess paints designed to stick to plastic do not need to be as thick as the metal due to their more duarble nature to movement, so the paint will be thinner and probably have less top coat , otherwise it will flake off. Also Plastic parts will be manufactured in a particular colour out of the mould? The primer colour might be a shade out from the metal body and as we know primer colour can alter a shade of top coat under odd lighting conditions. Example: A metal door can have 2 grey primer coats , 1 basecoat colour, 1 or 2 clear top coats. 1 bumper (black moulded) from the factory, 1 thin grey plastiprimer, 1 basecoat, then 1 clear top coat? Already you have black under colour to start, 1 grey primer only 1 top coat etc so the light reflection shade is different? When you respray old bangers (like I do ) note down the number of coats you do for primer and top coat or you will get shade differences? of course in 2014 why Nissan cant get that right is beyond me! Even Audi /VW do so much better! Cost?

Guys I wish I had not read this post - but then again! I am looking to get a 370 as my next car soon as I have found a suitable one and got a few bits sorted on my Pathfinder as a part - ex! I am in the same boat as you - work many miles away from home and rack up the miles, the Zed would be taking the brunt of it - I look after them but expect them to go forever without incident like my 350 used to? They are not cheap to run but if its duff build quality then its putting me off!
-
No intention of getting one new far too expensive but they do look good. 370 first then when I am too old to get in and pit of it will get one of these! Haha
-
Very nice mate my next 4x4 will be the 4 door version of that. In black of course. Enjoy it
-
Buy it but you will spend the rest of your life tuning the carbs! Hahaha

Hmm as a former ragtop owner not sure that body suits it? Would look like an American barge ? But who knows?

When I first saw these pictures I thought 1970's Toyota/ Nissan? Love the interior but you just know the accountants will tone it down to black plastic!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufacturers/nissan/10463057/Nissan-IDx-Freeflow-and-IDx-Nismo-unveiled.html http://www.worldcarfans.com/114011568806/nissan-idx-concept-headed-into-production-could-be-introduced Other than the poo beige colour I like it a lot and I was born before the 1990's! Lets hope they actually make it about time Nissan had some fun again! We cant all want to buy a Cashcow!! (Sorry if IDX already discussed did a search but not found anything?) So what so what do you guys think? Yay or nay? I prefer it over over a GT86 ot BRZ which have zero street presence in my opinion?

370z intelligent key ? Just as pants as Nissan Pathfinders?
stanski replied to stanski's topic in 370z General
Thanks guys never knew this topic was still running.... Think I might just have a duff one in the Ditchfinder. Good to know. -
I am not surprised! No its another on autotrader- private sale! Do a search for 350z - change price starting with the highest and you see those late plate but pre- revised engine models for sale! (Think they were Irish unregistered from a while back) Knowledge is power! Viks I am merely doing research and keeping an eye on them for now. With no money its all I can do- a boy has to dream? Those Nissan IDX 1970's Toyota lookalikes will probably be out by then! Might just buy one of those instead haha

Thanks mate appreciate the info. The ones I have seen are being sold as GT edition but clearly are not!
-
Just a question? I thought Gt editions only appeared from 2011/2012-> So when I see one with normal silver alloys before that date , For sale I guess someone has just put the go faster stripes on and trying to be erm a little less than honest?
-
Oh a Lakes meet! Would love to go and in a Zed but despit the fact I have not got my 370 yet (looks at credit card statement!) I have to go to a friends wedding this weekend, so cant do both. Shame. I hope you have a great time and please take lots of photos!
-
Lexx I never left! Just been a bit busy with new house and stuff. I hope to get a 370 next year! Fuming as 2 I had a keen interest both vanished off Autotrader this week , just as I was going to make time and see them! Its fate I suppose ! Never mind they are depreciationing quicker than my Ditchfinder is haha...
-
Cool thanks mate, must be duff photos then on Autotrader! Right thats my number 1 option so far! ;-)

Hi I was just wondering if anyone can put me straight on something? Photos I have seen appear to show those seats actually look more pinky than red? Is this true or just poor quality pictures? I like the red , brightens up the black interior but pinky seats are not really me?
-
Thanks Mike Now the clock is ticking whilst its working getting it part-exd before anything else goes!
-
Haha thanks mate and dont forget my fave Scotland trip, with the b&b with Fairies!
-
Haha no money! But scanning ads weekly just in case... Dont worry you will be the first to know

I specifically asked to speak to the mechanic to explain but he did look about 12 years old !

Thanks mate and all on the forum (as usual)

Hi everyone thanks very much for your suggestions. I hopped on the Navara forum as there is not a Pathfinder one, and they gave me a list of things to check, change etc. As mentioned on here the first thing is the change the fuel filter. Even though mine had 'apparently been done about 5000 miles ago' (it did look a bit rusty?) I got a new one and fitted it yesterday, I drove it like I stole it up and down the motorway (which is when it displays the symptoms) and wow its fixed! It runs like a bat out of hell and purrs like a kitten chewing diesel sweets! Lovely! So for a £14.98 fuel filter and 15 mins of my time, I have saved £2000 on Nissan's quote! Happy bunny but the clock is ticking now for the Pathfinder, a 370z is on the cards (Lucy wont like it .... but no doubt she will want to drive it) PS yes I have used Lockwood and Greenwood for my Zed years ago (they are good but sometimes need a prod in the right direction to wake them up!)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will get a second opinion. Its odd how it works fine when cold but not when hot? Is that the sign of a fuel pump on its way out? I am manchester based. There is a good tuning place who have been good in the past and Westway Nissan oldham have ironically been good. Hmm will try to get someone else to diagnose it. Bleeding diesels...
