http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=30150 Yet another industry standard appraisal I suppose. After 2 months I still absolutely love driving mine every single day, with the added bonus of being anonymous! Nodody knows what it is!

Haha Jim Lad - go rip orrf those Brits why dont you hahaaaarrrrr Is that one of those new Datsuns Sir? No Laaad its just a cheap Kia they all want one of those 7 year warranty even I cant steal that from them! Hahahaaaaar now where did I leave moi M Series ?
-
I've never heard that before. Yes think its a dealers term - we just lap it up any cars!
-
Good point - we are petrol heads so we know what we like and dont like - I suppose most people who just want a car to get them around will look at it purely from a practical and cost perspective - which is why Renault sell so many! They throw in all those packages dont they?
-
I know I went a bit off topic with supermarkets but... there is only so much space in the market and ASDA for example keep bleating how cheap they are and Poundshops do the same but as with anything you have to really know your prices and look closer some stuff is not that cheap and in ALDI's case a lot of things are being reduced in size to cover the slightly cheaper price. Anyway - we are not called treasure island for nothing in this country we are car mad and will pay whatever to get the coolest fastest etc cars we can, one up on the Jones's!

I still wouldn't say that is badge snobbery, more likely to do with perception of the Brand. Which is not that far off really, the majority of Nissan sales are of mundane crossovers, hatchbacks and the like. If you said you had bought a Ferrari I am sure they would have gone out looking for a sports car. I think in terms of badge snobbery, the GT-R will have changed the perception of Nissan with a lot of people. Whereas I am sure the Prius has solidified Toyota's perception of developing dull hatchbacks! Yes I agree, so its nice Toyota have reintroduced the GT86 but they will sell more dull saloons that those (although as I reported earlier - I was not really impressed with it) The GTR yes will highlight Nissan a bit more in this country, but again its all about Cashcows which sell like hot cakes and why not - they serve a purpose and are good. I find it funny that Nissan are bringing Datsun back but not in the UK ? Has not stopped Renault with Dacia and Dusters really are selling like hot cakes! Aldi are doing well which worries Tesco, Asda etc so maybe the perception problem is not with the man in the street but the Advertising men? Anyway talking of cheap here is my little friend

I have a set of bumpers for one of those if anyone might be interested!! haha

Sorry folks its difficult to transfer emotional reaction on a forum post, but imagine someone handed you a snow ball in winter that was yellow! Imagine that facial expression when I mentioned the N word to that guy! Up to that point he thought the car looked ace! Anyway just for the record I dont have a problem with BMW , Merc etc etc I just dont like to be the same as everyone else? I do however dont like people making assumptions about something because of it has a perception. A mondeo will probably do as good a job as a beemer but that Ford badge is assumed cheap whilst the 3 series BMW is seen as something higher up the car lifestyle level. I used to dis Jap cars until I got one and now I am their biggest ambassador! My 350z used to have a marmite reaction but the G37s just has either a wow what is that? Or is that a Kia?mainly is that a Kia! Haha Anyway its nice to leave them in my wake on the motorway but come on you zedders wave back when I wave/flash, (obviously from THAT other 350z club. Hahaha....) I do have a 1971 Datsun 100a btw street cred zero! Just how I like it! ;-)

I was picking up my little one from nursery the other day and a guy turns up in his van to pick up his child. He stands there gawping at my car whilst I am getting in. 'Ooooh thats a really nice looking car? What is it I have never seen one before?' He says? 'Its an Infiniti , they are quite rare yes' I reply. 'Infiniti? Oh very nice. I was thinking about replacing my 3 series?' 'They are part of Nissan I say, bit like Lexus is to Toyota' I reply 'Oh right well really nice car I do like the styling but think I will get another 3 series' . Then we parted ways. I bet if I said Infiniti was the sporting division of Mercedes, he would be sniffing the tailpipes! Thats the best thing about owning a Japanese car, people who own one have gone past the Badge barrier whilst Mr BWM, Merc, Audi, VW (delete as required) have their lifestyle status on show for everyone to see. Why do people buy cars for other people to admire! Well I am happy to drive my Korean looking Jap car!
-
I repeat since I went Jap cars I have never looked back!! Stick with Jap and proper made in Japan not made in France, Spain or Romania !!
-
hmm Mangoletsi ? Nuff said! Where there is blame there is claim all I can say! Just as well you walked away from that one!
-
OUCH!!! Those damn slippy pedals why wont car manufacturers make nonslip pedals so you can drive in muddy wet wellies and not have accidents!!
-
its nice to see the classics again but I get the impression there is only so much you can do with that show format?. I like my classics but even I get bored of watching over excited people going on about their cars! I will record the rest of the series because I am a petrol head from age 4.... Did you see Classic Car Restoration on Channel 5 ! I watch it because I love the cars but I hate pinky and perky on it plus the other mechanics they are trying to get involved! Its such dramatic panto! Especially the over tanned very camp Fiat 500 owners club bod- oooh Matron! http://www.channel5.com/shows/classic-car-rescue/the-cars/fiat-500

I think we all did similar stuff at some point - I had my brand new in 2001 MR2 roadster just 2 months old and foolishly used to take the hardtop off by myself - not really heavy but bulky, you know whats coming dont you? I lifted it, a fly buzzed near my face I swerved a fraction, hardtop catch (underneath one side) slid across the top of the rear wing ! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!! Then I set fire to my VW Split Screen van whilst welding the front apron (not knowing the previous owner had waxoyed behind it) the list goes on! At least nobody got hurt, things can be repaired humans not so easily!

Ok someone has been looking at jap concepts me thinks! Right lets get the facts out: 1 the doors will be slightly out of line. 2 some key function in the engine will be governed by a 10p Chinese electrical switch that will involve half an engine out to replace. 3 the bulbs will die after 6 months. Headlight will require bonnet off to replace 4 trim will fall off after first sand dune Ok it will probably be fine, but they will never build anything everyday that looks like it, but that 10p Chinese switch will be used in the whole range ! Haha
-
Look at it another way? You have just payed a Lot of money for a precisly engineered car. If Nissan say run it in then run it in. Better to take it slow now rather than fork out for an expensive engine rebuild later on . Simple. Good luck and enjoy it.
-
You will probably never have any issues whatsoever I just got a bad one. So good luck with your search matey
-
Unless you tell him otherwise that you want to keep a particular item (I am clear about this sometimes - being woerd that I am!) its normal practice, Put it this way unless you are weighing in tonnes you wont make any money on it!
-
welcome to the forum mate - you will love it when you get one, good luck
