After working just about every weekend since Sept I was looking forward to a week off - so as you know in between turning 41 on Monday I had planned to finally finish off mums back garden - i.e major overhaul - putting a patio area in - some low walls and new flower beds - blimey I'd forgotten how heavy a cement mixer is as i was lifting it into the back of the van yesterday - Anyway get everything ready - sand cement tools etc plug mixer in - nothing? Not a sausage! I try to check wiring - extention cable works the fuse in mixer works - so I procede to take the control box to bits - move the drum by hand etc not jammed or anything - try the switch it works?? Anyway get in the mix - in the mix - in the mix (sorry 80's thing) Afternoon spent getting covered in cement - the base is done - let it set overnight - before I go just do a few odd jobs, get home throat is feeling like inside of Gandies flipflop - shower and settle down to some medicinal red wine to help shift any cement dust from throat and nose - guess what wake up this morning - its lashing it down outside, best bit I have man-flu! I dont beleive it!!!! Why do you always get ill when its on your time not works!! They recon its going to be heavy rain rest of the week - bonus ball! At least I have done an honest days work - proper job! So what do think Man Flu cure- red wine or Paracetamol?

Paperbag man! cool - do you have one for every day of the week? Special ones at weekends or should I not mention that sort of thing in case there are younger readers! Well if you dont have a softtop you need not worry - at least you wont look like one of those comic super heros' with grey streaks like me! Just kiddin mate - anyway cheey - quiffs are useful to have - you can hide your A Level answers in there also a handy carrying device for Bacon butties on the way to work! Funny how you build a picture in your head of what someone looks like - especially Radio DJ's -remember they are on the Radio for a reason!! usually F-ugly buggers (technical term) Well its gonna be an eye opener in Wales then!

Thanks Nixy - I found it odd to have a cassette player as part of the standard audio unit in the Zed - this does mean I have dug out my old tapes and have been playing them every now and again! Sad I know - of course never with the roof down - Go for it 80's gal - get that Visage tape out of the loft! Well I have to think about colour co-ordination with my night blue Zed - its all about complimentary colours you know! Custard yellow! Hey less of the old rocker thanks matey!

I dont believe it - what is it with people ! Lets hope its sorted soon for ya mate - I remember last time that happened down here - fortunatley you could still get 4 star and I had my old VW transporter type 25 which I used for work that week!

Thanks matey Born in '67 (incidentally the best year for Beetles! '67 1500cc - woooh max power!) Child of the '70s and yes those times seemed ages ago but happy times, I was'nt into Rock then, but I did listen to John Peel when I was older and Radio Luxembourg - coo I sound a reet old git here - I dont even have long hair and face fungus! I think I am going to have to invest in some sort of hair colourant soon - the grey hair is showing now - soon I will look like last of the Malons!

I did buy one in the end and used it on my Van to test and well shiver my timbers the damn thing actually works and its easy to use - 2 cloths 1 to polish and 1 to buff off - although did that by hand to be safe. I polished the side panels out where vinyl lettering had been so you could still read it when the light caught it - took me about 30 mins but did both sides of the van and it polished up nicely - think I need to do a bit more but I was being cautious - highly recommended - they are about £20-35 anywhere else and it looks like the same machine... go for it !! Not sure I have the nerve to try on the Zed yet - will practice more on the van!

Looks like a Tripod and slow exposure then!! No flash! I guess thats not practical to do -so stand next to a pillar and hold your breath for the long exposure!! Will check with fellow 80's mate to see if he wants to go otherwise just 1 ticket for now defo please?

My mates at college were in a band called Chocolate Bus Ticket which is still a top name for a band I think! They played OMD tracks on their whizzy synths they got as Xmas pressies! I did their official album cover shots - very moody may dig one out sometime? Dare I mention Phil Colins, Duran Duran, ZZ top, Housemartins, A-ha,Human League, Death Lepord, Alexander O'Neal , Luther Vandross, Will Downing, yes yes I know stop laughing I was a Soul Man, and Northern Soul of course! Happy days with no mortgage to worry about just A - Levels and how I was going to ask the gal out I fancied something rotten! Never Happened in case your wondering Too shy! Thank's everyone for your kind words its very nice of you all! I know age is just a number - mentally I am still 12 and it was just last week when I drove that first Beetle - come a long way since then - well car wise anyway!
