Rattles are notoriously difficult to track down but favourite culprits tend to be heat sheilds over exhausts. Although I dont remember what the Zed one is like my mazda had 2 gravel stones trapped in it! Annoying to say the least. Best get it on ramps at a garage and have a look underneath check for loose fittings.

Its simple enough to pop the leads off the battery and connect your charger. I just think from an electronics and fire safety perspective, probably safer to do it disconnected properly? You dont want to fry anything.

Some turtle Wax stuff is ok. The tyre shine is super cheap and lasts ages. Turtle wax 'soft wax' itself has so much petroleum distillate in it , I used to use it to shift tar and welded insects off the paint. Bonus dual use

We can only hope Mazda can change petrol engine perception with their whizzy new engine. Develop that more then others follow suit, otherwise all our cars will go the way of the Dinosaur. Electric is the future it wont happen as quickly as they want so hydrid will be the stop gap. The problem again is cost, its all very well having fantastic long range electric cars but if they are Bentley prices who can afford them? If Nissan have got any soul left they will keep the zed going (whatever form that takes) the GT-R will still be around, you dont invent a super fast rocket then ditch it years later? Remember what the 240z was, a cheap fun sports car that was reliable and under cut the jags /Triumphs etc of its day. Long live the Zed.

Get some Bilt Hamber Auto Balm, cheap as chips and damn good. Now they have double quick wax which is a lot easier to apply and again dirt cheap. Got it on my black VW T5 van , has kept the rubbish off 6 months so far. A quick wash and wax every now and again just to keep it looking nice all the muck just falls right off it.

Thanks mate. My only annoyance is the spare wheel situation for the brembos. I am not paying stupid money for a spare wheel from the States or Aus? I was thinking the 370/G37 spare would be a good fit but I dont think its deep enough for the brembos and the centre hub and bolts need drilling out to match the Mustang Fat lugs and hub centre.

Haha oi! I will have to keep an eye on you. I can measure the strips for you if you like? Cant be that hard to get a vinyl place to cut some up? Sorry re satnav I meant the home location should be on the first satnav screen not flick through favourites. Even my van has that. Minor thing. Had to buy a lower height thermal mug for the cup holder so it didn't get in the way of the gearlever! Its a hard life isnt it. i have to drink a hot tea on the way to work.

Thanks. Only a handful near me usually black or grey. It had to be this blue for me.
-
Thanks mate. Yes I recon I can get around 300+ on a tank which is great for my usual trips up and down the country. It even handles really well on the twisty bits. Satnav mines a sync 3 maybe I need to read the manual (typical bloke) Wow you did some proper trips abroad I need to broaden my horizons. Will try and arrange something soon. I did 400 miles in 1 day and felt fine when I got out. Perfect. Good luck with yours.

Thought I would share my experience living with the crazy gaz guzzler I purchased 2 weeks ago. So far no buyers remorse, in fact I absolutely love it. Yes its very blue, yes I am paranoid about parking. It does fit in a space (just) and after a recent van scrape against a post in a multistorey incident, I am super careful with this one. Its very zed like? I can't quite describe it? I only do a short commute to work and tend to go through town. So ignoring the electric blue colour it tends to get a good reaction from people, they smile and wave and thumbs up, the rest just stare trying to figure out what it is? I do feel I am in a big blue goldfish bowl sometimes , but I dont really take that much notice anymore. The sound is glorious, it does have a performance exhaust back so louder than normal but its not in your face offensive. You do feel like you need to apply for a HGV license some days. The turning circle is on a par with a cruise ship in Venice. Just remember to start to turn once you are in the next postcode area and you will be fine. After years of driving Jap cars with snug cabins and dainty pedal clusters, this one has to be driven like you are riding a horse, legs apart to reach the gas pedal! I get about 18.5mph around town and 25-27mpg on the motorway. Everyone always lets me out even on the motorway, maybe they think its Donald Trump! The satnav is fantastic, as is the stereo. The additional lighting everywhere ,which you can set the colour, is a nice touch. Seats are comfy every car should have cooled and heated seats by default. Fantastic GT car exactly what I wanted. Rear seats perfect for my daughter. Boot is huge plenty of space to dump a few mafia dons plus cash. Downside. Its not a shrinking violet in a sea of Audis! Its a bit clumsy in small spaces but I am getting used to it. The cup holders are still for the yank market and the hardbrake is about 6 feet on the passenger side. There is no mute button for the stereo or a take me home button on the satnav home screen. Erm and thats it. 1st world problems eh? Get the shadow editon like mine or the earlier pre-face lift. Cheaper on roadtax and they still look like a Mustang. The new one has lost its mojo at the front. Fuel tank is small for a GT car really but plan your journey and its fine . Give one a try you before they get killed off by emissions. At least its not diesel. Stan

to the club mate. Like the photo enjoy the zed. -
If you get stuck Autopaaints Brighton are good. I tend to buy in bulk as I spray my own but they do touch up kits. You actually get a decent amount of paint unlike some that are just a lot of cheap thinners and not much pigment. https://shop.autopaintsbrighton.co.uk/ Dont forget the colour chart sticky on here.

Well there you go! Never listen to myths online. No wonder its a good engine the right people designed it! Its like my mates mk1 Toyota MR2 , yamaha built the engine , so well made even now when his car has been parked up for years, it still starts first time and sounds sweet!

I think Nissan has lost its way a bit in recent years? Yes they have flagship cars like the GT-R but its the bread and butter mass market stuff that makes them the money especially Cashcows for the SUV market and Micras in countries like India and the Middle eastern countries. Oh Navaras too. Ironically I think Infiniti have made the biggest c#ck ups! They have been in the States and Aus for decades then swung into Europe and UK. Absolutely zero advertising in UK, with old designs ,damn good cars btw with the right ideas about forward thinking tech and great interiors but petrol based guzzlers. So they get into bed with Mercedes and start building their Q30 SUV thing with diesel engines looks almost identical to the Merc equivalent, then we get Dieselgate and suddenly Diesel is evil, so they are left with a diesel engined product range and now they finally realised it was a bad idea moving into Europe and are leaving again. Bad timing I know but I still have never seen an advert for them. What kind of business model is that? As much as I am not keen on French cars at least we got the VQ engine off them, japanesed of course so its reliable but still a good unit. There will be a shift in the market again, big companies merging others falling by the wayside, then smaller specialist ones coming along with the leccie stuff as that becomes more unified, so they just create unique bodywork or retro fit into classics (that would be my thing) but hey I just bought a gas guzzling V8 so how clever am I!

https://autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/vehicle-based-breakdown-cover/ Been with Autoaid at least 11 years. Cheap as chips (although I see prices have crept up. I pay £42) Covers the car not you so no matter who drives it. Have been very good and no hassle at all. Recommended. Stan

Welcome mate. As a former 350 ragtop owner myself (totally impartial) they are ace especially with the roof down in a tunnel. Looks nice enjoy it.
-
Start off with something gentle like Mer, that should be enough. If its not you can move up to Autosol chrome polish, if thats not enough you can go hardcore with Farcela G3 as a last resort. All these work well for cloudy headlights and plastic rear windows on older MX5's too. I would also suggest you get some Bilt Hamber Auto Balm and apply it later to smooth out any scratches, its cheap as chips and damn good stuff. But wipe on and immediately wipe off or its a pig to clean off. Hope this helps? Stan

welcome to the club. Zed looks mint! Hope you enjoy it.

Welcome Alex. They are good solid cars, you will enjoy it. Stan

Sheesh you dont want to park it there!! Seems a bit of a dodgey area look at the graffiti in the background?

Sorry John didnt mean to worry you. The g37s are built next to the 370s on the same production lines. Basically they are 370zs with seats in the back. So mechanically probably identical, just body parts. I used to go to Infinity Manchester ,they were very good actually but not cheap. The USB port fell into the console not long after I got it. The mechanic took the whole tunnel out for me (free of charge!) To get it out and left the rear console.loose so I could refit myself. Top guy. The USB part was £250 + vat!!! I said erm no thanks. I checked my old one at home, turned out there was a dry joint on the pins, I resoldered and it worked fine, popped it back in and job done. You should be able get parts easily enough , they are damn good cars with interior fit and finish superior to zeds.

Well you must know Bank Holiday weekend = rain haha. I miss my 350z ragtop, if you drive fast enough the rain just flies over the top, but its the wipers pushing water onto the side window and your shoulder thats normally the issue.

Well done love that Colour!

Need advice for my mid life crisis car choice!
stanski replied to stanski's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I loved my 350 only sold it as my daughter was on the way at the time so needed a practical saloon! Anyway fast forward she is now 9, I was going for a 370 it was almost 100% certain, it felt home from home, but Italian Beauties aside I plumped for a lazy fat yank instead! But so far my Pony Car is superb however strangley Zed like (bar the fat bottom and width) and it even comes with a radio/entertainment system slightly more up to date within the present decade. Not requiring valves to warm up or limited to the BBC World service or Radio Luxembourg as the Zeds is? Turned out nice again! Enjoy the F Type I always thought they looked very 350z from the front anyway would have been an option except still pricey for me. Blimey at this rate we shall need a separate ex-zedders forum!
