I disagree about the clutch. A lightened flywheel makes a noticeable difference to the engine pick-up and IMO is a big improvement to the feel of how the car drives. Fair enough I guess what I mean is I'd rather spend the money on upgrading other bits first, only replacing the clutch if necessary. I haven't replaced mine so don't have any experience of what difference a lightened flywheel makes, but it makes sense that it'd improve the feel. I'm sure it was a lot cheaper when I bought mine, I've just had a look at the prices for a Fidenza light flywheel on ebay and they are well pricey. GMBallistic makes a good point about fitting costs but I have to say I'm surprised what Snjur says about the headers making a big difference. I had thought that the difference was minimal and the fitting difficulty huge. I must be remembering that wrong then Someone else who has actually done it will need to wade in on the header subject

Can i upgrade my clutch and flywheel with this kit?
Toon Chris replied to leet8845's topic in 350Z Technical
LUK is a standard aftermarket parts company and is perfectly respectable for quality if you don't want OEM. But this LUK clutch kit is a standard replacement and not the same as the XTD one which is supposedly a' racing' spec. Listen to Clake Motorsport and ask them for a price first. You will always get good quality there so for the cost of a call or a PM message why not? Finally, if changing the clutch get the crank bearing too. Sorry can't remember its proper name, its the one in the end of the crank that the gearbox shaft fits in to (pilot/spigot??). -

On 62K you could consider a powerflex diff bush. Tightens up the whole feel of the drivetrain if yours is worn. Also from posts I've seen on the forum, for the cost and effort new headers are simply not worth doing for the minimal gains you get. Dropping those form the list will save you a lot of money

I barely have a heat shield left on the car, they have all wobbled off over time. Welcome

Nismo pedal really helps Easy to fit, too.

What did the garages say to you when they couldn't programme the car (its the car that is programmed to accept the key, not the key programmed to work with the car)? Did they say the key wasn't transmitting?

A bit of foam or cardboard discretely stuffed between dash and windscreen stops many rattles. I've had a zmanalex business card stopping a rattle for many, many years now (cheers Alex )

Ah, I got the prices the wrong way around, its the Fabest that's the cheap one. So SNR looks good, thanks Alex

And this one looks to be genuine OEM? http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts_info.asp?id=7775&cat=87⊂=120&sec=0&var=0&dc=&gen=&searchKey= If anyone can confirm the part number 40202-AL510 40202-AL56C is correct it looks like a bargain.

Yes again I find myself having to replace front wheel bearings. I can't tell if the spacers on the car have made this more frequent than normal but even if they have it is worth it for the improved look Cheapest OEM are near £200 so I wondered if anyone has tried two other common brands? SNR @ £80 which is silly cheap - but if they fit and last 50K its enough. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SNR-Wheel-Bearing-Kit-Nissan-350-Z-3-5-2002-On-/360929984326?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A350+Z&hash=item54091a7f46 Febest @ £150 more expensive but any better? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0282-V35MF-FRONT-WHEEL-HUB-INFINITY-G35-V35-NISSAN-SKYLINE-OEM-40202-AL500-/121392833999?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A350+Z&hash=item1c4393a5cf

Or that lack of power and metallic noise is pinking from a cracked inlet Its only an alloy so not that strong but you will have an engine light on if its something that bad as it would affect the air/fuel mixture.

Press together or on the wound very firmly to stop the bleeding. Any remaining 'flaps' use super glue (preferably IMO a gel type) which will stop it opening up for a few days. When the glue fails, repeat. I took most of my index finger nail off with a Stanley knife when fitting a carpet the other weekend. Never mind the wife, I nearly fainted as I though the entire finger end had been lopped off and I was pretty green by the time she arrived on the scene, summoned by the repeated swearing. Whereupon she uttered the helpful, loving and consoling words of "none of it went on the carpet did it?" To the OP - the lesson is, if it aint broke, don't touch

I sold mine when I upgraded to a vastly superiour (IMO) KTA and they go for sill money for what they are. I seem to remember i got over £50 for it on eBay and it wasn't in perfect condition.

I thought the knock sensor was the equivalent of the 'pinking' sensor in that it detected pre-detonation and retarded the ignition to suit? If that has failed then there should be a CEL warning unless some helpful soul has removed the bulb before you bought the car. I take it the engine light come on when you first turn the ignition on? My money is on a heat shield too. Most have mine have come loose and been wired back on over the years.

You kill more sparrows with the emissions - and possibly humans too. Even 'clean' diesels are environmentally dirty compared to modern petrol engines. Um. Other than that I'm struggling. They don't rev so high so don't sound as much fun? Does that count? I suppose you could also argue that because its a turbo car the turbo will eventually wear out way before a NA engine would need that level of attention. Not really a problem if you aren't keeping it for 100's of K though. Oh yeah, you can't supercharge it

Looks like a bargain, spelling FAIL of the year I would say

Well it would have been funny if the car was blue, black, yellow, white, silver or grey, but as it is actually orange I can't quite see the joke. Fine, just me then. -

japinees At the risk of alienating 20% of the forum I also had a titter at this: Colour Orange -
Yes it affect the handling, although its a matter of preference as to if you like it or not. Its nothing too drastic IMO The consensus is that the car becomes more sensitive to the alignment so you may need a proper 4-wheel alignment session after fitting.

Well I definitely noticed a difference with mine. OK so BHP doesn't go up a lot but torque improves and that's what you are more likely to notice. The car was much snappier in lower gears after the uprev. I can only guess but actually if you have all the parameters already set up for these cars then you could in theory drop that ready-made map into place and it will work ok. If the car doesn't need any extra fuel tuning then thats lucky on the part of the tuner as the job has been done faster - but you still got what you paid for. Yes it needs the tuners response to your concerns but always remember that they don't set the uprev licence price and good guys react better to questions when not being accused of being a bad guy. I don't in any way mean you are doing that, I suppose I'm just saying be nice first which isn't easy when you feel stung.
