This isn't the same as as a doctor misdiagnosing cancer or a surgeon removing the wrong kidney. Those people are (hopefully) trained and experienced not to make even one mistake (again, hopefully) Less well trained people do make mistakes and the mechanic is more likely to remember this as a close shave and pay more attention from now onwards - to learn from his mistakes. People do deserve a second chance. For the OP, who cares if the owner broke a tool, assuming thats even true. If it was a decent garage using decent tools then it will be immediaetly replaced by the supplier for no charge. Anyway, utterly urrelevant. Basically they did not do the work properly, caused a lot of inconvenience and upset and risk to life. A full refund is a minimum in thsi situation. If the man says no, write a letter saying the services he supplied were inadequate and if he doesn't refund you in 10 days you will go to a small claims court. Small claims are easy to do and pretty cheap and they tend to work on common sense, in this case that you didn't get the services you paid for. They may even compensate for inconvenience if you ask for a small extra sum (don't be greedy).

lightened or single mass Vs Dual mass flywheels

JWT and Firdenza. Lovely combo and before selling I had 120K on that setup with no problems. Easy to drive daily and well worthwhile. Go for it -
ooh my VHS tapes would look all snowy on that

I always knew those HR engines were a fad and more trouble than the extra HP was worth. Stick to DE my friends, built from girders and they go on for ever
-
And you passed the MOT with CEL lights on? Fronts are a little cheaper but backs are more precise and more costly. Most likely its what Ricky said and they cut them hoping to stop the CEL. That code is a bank 1 sensor 2 heater element so that's the nearside rear I believe. The trouble is that lambda codes can be the symptom of a problem elsewhere so first things first roughly wire them back in and try again. And then try cross-wiring them. If you get the same error but for the other bank then you know the lambda probably is the issue after all. If you need some replacement that Clarke Motorsports are a good choice as they understand that the front and back lambdas are not the same.

Yes Easy Start is safe. Well worth a punt. Don't the Ozzys call it 'Start You B*stard' or something like that?
-
Not sure how the ecu reacts with no signal, I presume it uses a standard map, but more to the point I assume it stops the CEL from coming on? In which case if they were snipped its easier to sell the car as no warning lights coming up. Decent Lambdas are about £100

The DVLA are a Bunch of Thieves...!!

Jeez, how old? -
I wish I hadn't looked at this thread. Most of these pics make me feel ill. Its not anything about preserving the sanctity of the "holy Z original factory look", 90% of these things look deformed. How could anyone drive them and feel proud. Don't they know people are not going 'wow I want that', they are going 'what a nob!'.

Took them about a week to refund me, I'd chase them up Will.

Moving is so horrendously stressful we have taken to selling up then renting for 6 months while we find the new house. It feels so much better to be out of a chain and with cash in hand. Yes you are in limbo for a few months whilst you buy the new house but its not so bad and if the house you are buying falls through its not the end of the world. Oh, and we sold a house using RightMove

...but Magnatec is better that air so at least you got something in there asap. If you car uses that much oil, check it weekly!
-
Oh dear, that is not good at all. Mixing oil won't hurt, and the ticking was maybe something suffering from oil pressure problems or starvation. Your main issue is damage to the bottom end from lack of oil pressure which is very bad news. You either have escapade by the skin of your teeth or you have damage which will rear its head at some point in the future. 2.2 litres is a lot to be adding and you may have got away with it if your pressure stayed up high enough but unfortunately you will not be able to tell.

186K on mine when I sold it, and it was still pulling perfectly and had no issues at all.

I drove Yugo vans for a while. Yugo gave them to the company for peanuts so we would drive them around town as a sort of advertising. Terribly underpowered and apparently only had 3 main bearings on the crank to save money. That may be why they all died at under 60K on the clock. Worst car to drive for me was a Wartburg in East Germany. 3 cylinder, 2-stroke engine in a fibreglass/cardboard/metal mixture body and the dash and seats roughly bolted into place. Engine was rubbish unless it was in the powerband whereupon it went off like stink without warning, and with crap brakes and steering you somehow never felt it was actually you driving it. And these were the luxury cars of the time. The common folk had to make do with Trabants. Aint she a beauty?

If she likes her Beemer then she may not want too big a car? How about an Audi A1. Easy to get one anywhere in the 11-15k mark. Sneaky remap on the diesel or a competition version. Great fun.

Even better, squirt a bottle of it down the intake. That's a great way to smoke out the entire street I used to love 'cleaning' my old Mk2 escort that way

Even if he was driving like a loon doesn't mean he deserves to die. How the hell can you not stop when you see that? !
-
With all the bolt-ons and an uprev my MPG went up by about 1mpg on average. Not a lot but it makes a difference when you do a lot of miles and my driving style didn't change at all so I know it wasn't that. I'd suggest the OP has a heavy foot now Also, the throttle response was very snappy after uprev.

Can any budding Solicitors help with personal loan question?
Toon Chris replied to Toon Chris's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I think a relevant point here is that I will be a 50% beneficiary of the estate anyway, so what this document gives me is 50% + the loan. If the estate does not have much money then its 'my' money I'm biting into anyway. From your kind responses it looks like the only advantages I would like to get into the document are how to prioritise my claim against other creditors, such as utilities, credit cards etc. Securing the loan against the property looks to be a way to do that. -

Cheers, that's very helpful thanks. I also added a binding sentence: "This agreement will pass to the benefit of and be binding upon the respective heirs, executors, administrators, successors and permitted assigns of the Borrower and Lender" -
D'oh! Use Google of course http://ownvehicle.askmid.com/ So it is insured! Someone has it, that's great, I wonder who?
-
I did a dvla check but it still has my old tax dates on the web. How do I tell if it is insured?
-
Now I'm getting concerned. Really no-one has seen or bought it I hope its out there in a happy place.
