I had a syncro go on 5th gear last year and straight away marshalls @ cambridge replaced the entire box with new under warranty, have always had the 1st n 2nd problem when cold with both boxes (mine a 54plate btw) Hope you get it sorted

You could try a clay bar, otherwise resort to some celulose thinners then a wash and polish straight after should sort it. I had a similar prob where my bro sprayed his bike and the paint in the air covered my whole car, but managed to clay bar it off
