oooh oooh is it going to be finished by the 16th No chance but your more than welcome to pop in on your world tour -
Yes if you import something from outside the EU as an individual, vat or non vat registered business you have to pay vat & duty on the item. Then if you are a vat registered company you can claim the vat you have paid on the item you purchased back. Then if you sell the item as a registered business you are required to pay vat on the sale value of the item.

But a good businessman will not recommend his competitors -
As above the rattle is to be expected, but 6th gear will be the alignment plate under the gator from inside the car. Not to sure about the starting issue, assuming the correct plugs (gapped) are installed Could be tps needs a reset (may have been touched or moved during the plug change? But that's a stab in the dark tbh

I'm in, hopefully I'll make it third time lucky & actually turn up in a zed this year

So with the mixed opinions I'm still confused. The car is US spec so LH drive & was in close to original spec when I bought it. So no splitter, no spoiler & the rear quarter side lights. I believe all the JDM & Euro cars had the boot lid spoiler & splitter on the front also without the rear quarter lights. I think I'm going to continue prepping the spoiler & splitter. Paint them both body colour off the car, that way there will be a perfect colour match if i decide to fit them once the car is painted. At that point I can decide if: a) I want to reduce the height of the splitter & change the colour of the spoiler to GM or something similar. -

Unsure Dave, the engine bay & interior needs sorting out again after all the alignment issues , so the option to change it is still open. -

Had a few hours on the car this week to get all the edges smoothed out & a meeting with my paint man tonight. Hoping for some positive feedback & to arrange a date for painting -
I may organise a mini Medway meet when I get my zed back on the road, keep seeing all you guys around when I'm in my daily Welcome along Westyno9

Mine was 2kmiles boosted when this happened, fortunately Berks replaced them under warranty BUT I still got stung by customs, got taxed for the shipping & value of the goods. Just something to bare in mind. Glrnet also had a set of Berks fail, they didn't break up but the cat material inside came loose inside & gave his exhaust a rattle.

This is what mine looked like when they failed.

Daily/track car not to worried about perfect paint, but did give it a wipe down The trick to keeping them straight is firstly making sure they are seated straight & then to spin the disc at a decent speed & apply very little pressure when cutting, it takes a long time to even cut a couple of thou off. Not saying this is the right way to go about it, but thought we would give it a go & see what happened. At worst it would have cost me a new set of discs -

Great idea, thanks for giving me more work to do -
Do you have cats on the car? If so knock the cats to see if they rattle? Does the car smell from the back when running? I had my Berks fall apart & they seemed to rattle around in the back box for a while

Darren-B's 1971 240z Project Pumpkin Major UPDATE P48
Darren-B replied to Darren-B's topic in Other Cars
Right then, back on track continuing from my drunken guide to guide coating/blocking managed to get both sides of the car blocked 320 to a final shape Also the rear end primed & blocked back Then I had a fellow petrolhead arrive to help me out yesterday But he started taking apart the wrong car Needed to investigate an intermittent brake wear warning light that only came on when the brakes were hot, so decided to start with replacing all the wear sensors & front pads (rear discs & pads done a few weeks ago) But found that the disc was corroded on the inside face probably down to a previous pad wearing through to the metal So mounted the disc in reverse & centred on the hub less than .02mm runout in either direction we got the drill out Then skimmed the corrosion off the disc first cut with a grinding disc then with a flap disc followed by a 180 & 240pad Then re-fitted the disc & done the outside face to ensure an even friction surface Then checked for runout, new pads, springs, clips & sensors fitted Repeated the otherside Job done £400+saving Thanks Octet@Torqen not just saving people money on zeds The car brakes straight & Stonger than they did before, if that was even possible Then it was back to work on what we were supposed to be doing. Adrian put on his gimp mask & onsie then got a crash course on block sanding the door shuts Although he hated doing such a boring job he knew that only the best finish would be accepted & of course provided on both sides. Cheers mate So now the door shuts are done, Need to do a bit more shaping on the light surrounds, bonnet & skuttle panel then decide what to do with the rear. Spoiler or no spoiler? body colour or grey like the light surrounds Then Splitter or no splitter?
