Awesome work, forged JZ's are the one If you can make the adaptor plate work then I can think of a LOT of people who would be very interested in it as well, W58 and V160's are silly money these days. Good luck, will be keeping a close eye on this I think BTW, who you going to use for mapping?

Aye, I bought the car first, went on "the other one" and then kinda migrated here. Ive said it many times but coming from a long background of forums and car clubs its fascinating to see how this one is developing, if it keeps going like it is it will have a formidable presence in a few years time

I dont think Ive put one in my Range Rover the whole 2 years Ive owned it

Aye, mag ride is supposed to be amazing, but other than that they are a bit slow, dont really handle very well and just arent a nice drive compared to a 997 or an M6. This was coming from a Bentley dealer and a former owner who moved onto the Pork, I found it difficult to accept as I love em but as they both said the same things ..........

I now know of 3 owned by friends that have been replaced.

OK, Im not having a pop but do you really think two trackdays is enough to start giving advice? Brake discs dont warp, they sometimes pick up deposits which are impossible to see though. Generally a proper bit of heavy braking will sort them out so if they are a bit wobbly to start with just push through it. Why? Ive done 15+ days on everything from Anglesey to Spa and not had a problem. Oil cooler - not needed unless you are drifting, and cool down lap just needs to be not maximum attack, high gears or going really slowly arent anything to worry about - its more for the brakes than the engine anyway I wouldnt rush out and buy matching tyres just for a trackday TBH My main advice - dont worry. At the end of the day its not much different from a spirited drive on an A road, yes its harder on the brakes but its not like youre entering a 6 hour endurance race. Go steady to start with, dont try to race anyone and gradually build your speed up while remaining comfortable with it and before you know it you'll be hossing round like an old hand. The best bit of advice I ever got given youre the only person driving the car, if you crash or lose it its because YOU were pushing too hard, and YOU need to be the one to realise that.

Possible causes for loss of steering "linearity"?

Check fluid, belt, bushes, rack in that order Id say. -
370z 130mph brake failure & crash - CTSCC @ Austin
docwra replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
100% he did, its amazing how quickly your mind can work when you are being faced with instant death -
Good: Awesome handling, superb car when pressing on Bad: Juicy as you like, annoying for long journeys due to lack of torque and £10K for an S2K is a LOT IMO Drive it, see what you think - I get bored of them pretty quick but they are definitely a racier alternative to the Zed

FTR Ive hears the Mazza is NOT a good car apart from looks interior and noises.
-
why were you looking ? are you tempted ? Not yet as I was hoping they'd be in the more achievable £30k territory by now, as per my original post. Really struggling to find anything interesting under £30k that wasn't disappointing or involve monster running costs so I'll either be keeping the 350 for a lot longer or doing the very predictable "upgrade" to a 370 soon. Test driven the C63, 996 C2, 4200GS, Vantage 4.3 and XK 4.2. Evora, Cayman and E92 still on the to-do list. C63 was the best of a bad bunch thus far (monstrous torque and messerschmitt noise) but just looks like a C class with 4 tailpipes i.e. not the gusset-moistener it needs to be... *cough cough* e63 M6 If he thinks a C63 is better drive than Cayman theres not a lot of hope TBH.
-
All this proves is that the testing doesnt work ........... And only 9 reports? Really? Ive got two mates who have already sent off for replacements, I dont think thats accurate TBH.

I know lots of fitment guys and I dont know anyone who has done this, certainly not more than a few mm for brake clearance. Id be worried about messing with the wheels structure, certainly the bolt seats and its a bit irreversible as well - you can always sell spacers when youre finished with them. Id personally also drop the car at least another 15mm, the rear looks high to me TBH - much better than standard but if youre going down, you may as well go DOWN
-
Very similar in fact - Haltech is a full management system so is considerably more flexible, has more features and is just a more advanced product. The difference is that at least UpRev is the cheaper product in this example ..........

There was a dude on Interceptors the other day who got picked for 130mph on a motorway. 56 day ban, £350 fine, Id take that I reckon

If youre drifting then a baffled sump is always a good idea but I think long corners (Gerards at Mallory, Redgate at Donington, Pouhon and Blanchemont at Spa) are probably worse - I was getting fuel starvation at Blanchemont on a 1/4 tank so christ knows what the oil was doing ........... and Im not aware of any track failures due to oil not getting picked up, youd have thought it would be known by now (like it is on CA18's and RB26's) If the Japspeed sump doesnt fit they will replace it, as long as you dont need the car immediately its probably the best bet .........
-
This means the oil never really heats up and any water inside the engine doesnt evaporate, youre doing more damage than if you drove to work at 6000rpm IMO. Not being funny guys, but if its 2 miles, cant you just walk or bike? Id kill to live that close to my office ..........

Having watched a mate try to bend/snap my GS4 and fail miserably (dont ask) and having a billet aluminium HTC One M8 in my pocket that you can drive over without bending it, I dont really accept that TBH. These guys tested a whole bunch of smart phones including htc & samsung and found that the iphone 6 was the only one to bend out of the ones they tried. Quite, otherwise Im sure we would have heard about M8's etc. bending as well - theyve sold a couple after all. Likewise, the GS5 sold 11m units in its first month, if there was a bending problem (which I dont understand how a plastic phone can bend anyway) I think we might heard about it. Its what I said on the last page, Apple release something thats technologically 2 years behind the game, overpriced and doesnt work properly (IOS8 has been released twice now, IOS6 Maps didnt work, bendy phones, iCloud security, Livestream, iPhone 6 preorders) and the iLovers get all aggressive about it ........... without considering every other release by every other company works fine and moves the game on. Ive got nothing against the products, if you like them then more power to you but dont try to make out that all the rest are the same because they arent - cutting edge hardware, properly tested software and reasonable pricing is actually a good thing believe it or not

Career Advice - taking the leap **long post**
docwra replied to marzman's topic in Off Topic Discussion
The advice given here is pretty good TBH, you need to consider that while it might be difficult to make a break now, in 5 years you will almost certainly wonder why you didnt do it sooner - unless there is a clear path mapped out for you within your current company then I think its always good to get some new experiences and different approaches to doing things. BTW, Im currently looking for IT Project Managers in Dubai. Seriously, drop me a line if you want more information -
I know its counterintuitive but every rear mount setup Ive read about has said the same thing, no noticeable increase in lag. And the middle car is a Mustang but sadly I cant find out much more about it, I know STS make quite a few kits so I guess it must be popular in the states
-
Aye, the one I drove started understeering before you even turned the wheel, but when I took an S4 for a spin a little while ago I literally got out to check it didnt have a flat tyre or something
-
Anti-lag anyone? And despite not actually disagreeing with you since we last discussed mixed tyres, youre wide of the mark on the lag as well - even in 8ft of boost pipe theres not very much air, and its not like youre filling a vacuum either, youre just pushing along whats in the pipe already. See here: Biggest problem with a rear mount in a 350Z would be ground clearance IMO, its crap as it is without sticking more @*!# under the car. If you want 400hp, strapping a charger on is the best bet, to get the most out of any Z33 turbo setup you need to forge the engine IMO which is big cash. Rear mount looks cool though:

Having watched a mate try to bend/snap my GS4 and fail miserably (dont ask) and having a billet aluminium HTC One M8 in my pocket that you can drive over without bending it, I dont really accept that TBH. Charging £700 for it is a **** take, frankly. On connectors - Im pretty sure my M8 on USB3 transfers data faster than Lightning, and Ive read it has the potential to carry 100w as well. Theres also the fact that every other goddamn ancillary, phone and charger all use standard USB which makes life a lot easier if you need to borrow someones charger. I dont want to come across as anti Apple coz Im not, iMacs are still awesome bits of kit and the other iProducts were game changers when they came out, but its stuff like the above that underlines it for me - every one of these threads seems to end up with the Applisti trying to defend their toys and the Androidians coming up with a LOT of reasons why the competition has caught up and gone past them. If you prefer an iPhone, or iOS then Im not going to knock you, each to their own but if youre going to try and tell me that technically they are superior then Im having none of it.
-
Have you driven it, and if so how did you find the handling? Not a fan of the A5 drive myself, dont know if being a quattro changes anything though .........
-
I bet you dont know who either of those guys are, despite having listened to one for hours and no doubt watched the other for sheer .......... minutes at a time
