This. Any modified engine, whether its been built by superman or not is more likely to fail than the standard ones, the CA, EJ and RB26 are all excellent examples of this, they rarely break under standard power. Besides, a lazy old V8 that only revs to 6K is clearly going to suffer less stress than a high compression engine thats regularly seeing 8.5K, thats common sense isnt it? An LS3 is 430hp as standard, taking that to 50hp isnt a great increase by any means. A VQ35 with 500hp is running nearly twice its original power, thats a hell of a lot of additional strain on everything, not to mention the additional cooling, fuelling and lubrication its going to need, I know which Id take if I was into endurance racing
-
Sorry man but it makes perfect sense - a VQ running anything above standard power is more likely to go bang than an LS running standard power, and its pretty fair to say theres a lot more to go wrong with an FI setup than with NA as well, regardless of how well it was built. You were unlucky, but relatively speaking there arent a lot of engine failures on here, which would suggest the VQ is a pretty solid lump, EJ20's, RB26 and CA18's are all much, much worse and can you guess what they all have in common?

Mmmmmm .......... the only thing Id add is Ive heard of a lot of oil problems when using them for track stuff, that might well be something to keep in mind. Im playing with the idea of doing mine but something keeps stopping me, might be that when the weather gets better Ill change my mind again

River drifting is fun isnt it? How did you get on mate? Id have come down but was visiting my Nan, worse luck she only lives a bit up the road as well

IIRC an LS literally runs off of 3 wires, so harnesses arent really an issue apart from getting gauges working properly etc, although most will just buy a STACK dash or similar which would be supplied with a harness anyway. The problem is making it fit in the chassis, there can be serious fab work involved there with crossmembers, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, propshaft - even getting the gearstick in the right place isnt easy. Although these guys will be familiar with TVR's I imagine they would have to start from scratch with a Z33 so it aint going to be cheap. If youre serious about it then Sikky do a premade kit thats pretty reasonable, and I know Bizz was going to reproduce his too, factor in cost of engine and gearbox and the work to fit it and I reckon you could get it done for £8K best case, £10K worst case. For comparison, I reckon a 500hp TT 350Z with a forged engine would set you back around £12K ........... Im definitely tempted, I have to say

I've stayed at a few hotels where the hostesses and pilots reside, makes for an interesting evening whilst you're sat at the bar pi**ed ogling gorgeous hostesses!! Im back at the Meridian Dubai in a couple of weeks, the swimming pool is a like some kind of bikini catwalk as Emirates is just over the road. Bliss.

Second hand wheels? http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/ ? Put up with the Rays until you can afford something sweet? All better suggestions than buying cheap rims that dont fit IMO. I cant believe you cant find a set of Rotas you dont like either, but in a similar price range are Ultralite, Varrstoen and Im sure a few more too. Happy hunting

TBH Singapore and Emirates changed the game with their hosties and are still probably the best, SAS used to be good but they are getting older all the time. I imagine Virgin were something else in the late 80's but unfortunately they appear to still have the same girls nowadays For European Airlines Aegean take some beating on the hostie front, they used to make a point of sending their visitors (including me) to and from the airport on the crew minibus which is about as close as youre going to get to travelling in a van full of supermodels. Happy times.

And yet J. Clarkson esq. is the main source of motoring information for at least 95% of the country

Cheers for that, I actually didnt bother as a) I know the Mercs arent laggy, my brother had one and 2) its an an automatic luxobarge, its hardly going to be developed for the sharpest response. I guessed he was probably referring to boost threshold. Amusingly, theres a Clarkson clip that perfectly demonstrates the difference between lag and threshold, its amusing as he is trying to prove the exact opposite. From about 1:20 here:

What a great last race as well, if someone had told me that would be the result immediately after the first race Id have thought they were on drugs Great work by the Yam development guys, but I wonder how much Honda took their foot off the pedal on the 14 bike to concentrate on the 15 version ..........

Id disagree - F1's are good but RE050A's are better, wet and dry IMO. Of the others I was impressed by KU39's

Footballers rarely do this though: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2014/oct/07/sam-burgess-played-grand-final-with-fractured-eye-socket-and-cheekbone Yes, he broke his eye socket and cheekbone in the first tackle of the cup final but played the full 80 minutes, and won man of the match. Or even better, Warrington player Paul Wood: During the 2012 Stobart Super League Grand Final, Paul Wood ruptured his right testicle after getting kneed in the groin, one minute into the second half. He continued to play, made a number of tackles and even conducted media interviews in the dressing room after the match without mentioning it. It became public knowledge only when he tweeted a couple of hours later that he was heading for hospital for surgery and he confirmed early on Sunday morning that his right testicle had been removed. IIRC he got knocked out early on in the same match too. Thats double hard that is.

Or just sit in the seat number thats on your ticket of course I fly a lot, probably at least once a month and sometimes 4-5 flights in a week so have tried most airlines and Ryanair are the only hateful one - the way they make you queue past the gate so the flight shows as "on time", taking hand luggage and putting it in the hold, making you stand in rain waiting to get on the planes, the scratchcards/hotels/hire cars/charity calendar/e-cigarettes/coaches and everything else they push on you ......... but nothing boils my **** as much as that ****ing "another on time arrival" fanfare thing, Ive noticed recently that even when its late they now play "another successful arrival" just to **** me off But, particularly living near Stansted, at least 75% of the time they are the only people that fly where I actually want to go so unless I get a sudden love for international coach travel I guess Ill have to keep flying with them

Turbo lag disappeared in the 90's, all the modern units Ive driven are lag free

Decent lockers are a different prospect, particularly if you have smallish wells for them - I remember when I got my Project Mu's they made it clear that I needed to keep the serial numbr in case I ever needed to replace the locker key, it was specific to that particular set I still run them on the Zed but dont bother with anything else, but then TBF the wheels on the zed are worth as much as my 306 and 328i put together

I had a race with a Lambo in an Evo8 once. Regardless of the result I never wanted a Lambo as bad

For Christs sake, this is not a Fabia vs 350Z, which is better thread, the two cars are about as different from each other as you can get. The point is that a current 5 seat family hatchback that can be picked up for well under 10K is not far off the performance of a Zed, which is not something you would expect. Yes, the Zed looks, sounds, handles and does many things better but the minute you want to carry a 3rd person or anything bigger than a set of Golf clubs all that becomes irrelevant. Its an owners forum so its to be expected, but why not admire the Skoda for what it can do rather than get all defensive over the 350Z's failings?

The Caterham drivers wont be earning anything at all if my recent experience is anything to go by.

How? Rack spacers are generally acknowledged as the easiest way to get more lock without having to start messing with knuckles and offset arms and stuff, and while the spatndard lock is OK for drifting its not the greatest by any means. If you want some then buy these: http://www.driftworks.com/driftworks-geomaster-offset-rack-spacers.html

Indeed, something aint right there - I estimate Im about 50mm down and I can still drive about ........... and Im pretty sure no-one does -50mm springs ..........
-
I find the standard LSD locks up pretty good TBH, just buy some coilovers and a seat and youre there with a 350 If youre going 2 way, Nismo GT Pro is the daddies.

See, you jest, but I came oh so close to smashing into the back of a 458 at Spa a few weeks ago because he was mincing me down the straights but then chucking an anchor out the car when he was reaching apexes - if you consider I went round Radillon up his arse, he left me for dead down Kemmel and then Id caught up and nearly hit him again at Malmedy ........... And as it happens I also got beaten in a 30mph rolling start drag race by a Corsa VXR the other day, make of that what you will
-
Hang on, I never said they were that different - as R32 is pretty much an S13 with a different body and engine at the end of the day (dont ask me what a Cefiro existed for ) and the R33 is rather like a slightly heavier S14 to drive, although the RB20/25 is a very different prospect from the SR20 TBF. Driftworks is great for 200's but www.sxoc.com/vbb is better

£6K is heavy money for a 200 if you ask me, but will get you a really nice car for sure. Coldels R33 looks nice though .........
