  1. USe a booking agent, I recommend speed chills - you have to buy two entrance tickets with each camping pitch, costs are about £75 and £120ish respectively
  2. One of very few natural progressions from a Zed for me, they are delightful to drive quick, are pretty fast and are well worth a look if you can live with two seats and not much boot ETA: Solely as a drivers car I struggle to see how anyone can prefer a Zed but its a matter of taste I suppose ............ 1350KG, mid engined Porsche that cost twice what a Zed did when new says it all for me
  3. And pics? Try vids, this was one of our lads a few years back: This was the team a couple of years ago: and this was last year:
  4. If youre going to get it done then you need to move fast, I booked our tickets in October IIRC and they were running out then ............. Fuel is about a tank there and another one back if youre near London, we tend to get 1020 Chunnel and arrive about 4pm. No problems with getting cars in, Id strongly recommend Houx/Houx Annexe/Minson Blanche as they are closer to the "main" action Im on my 10th year this year with a team of 25ish, if you go down be sure to say hello
  5. It is mate, Ive just sent you a PM, Im only after £8K now. This is as close to a build thread as you are going to get: http://www.streetoptions.co.uk/Widebody-Nissan-350z.html, the work is really top quality
  6. I think it is more like if you want to feel a difference you will, Errr, no. Theres been plenty of people over the years say it on here and with the greatest of respect I know the difference between imagining and actually feeling, the weird thing is that it doesnt seem to be constant on every car. I know imports had different geometry, Coyoteboy, is yours an import? And theres nothing wrong with sliding out of a junction once in a while, some people are just old before their time
  7. Zed is still on driveway but I cant see what Id use it for now - it sounds nicer, arguably looks better ......... but thats it, the Bimmer has it beaten in every other department. SO BUY MY ZED EVERYONE ........... http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/88424-truly-one-off-widearch-350z/page__hl__widearch
  8. M sport calipers and discs (6 pot brembo front with 338mm, 2 pot rear with 324mm), Pagid RS29 pads all round, braided lines, nothing insane. TBH the Zed has better brakes, but I wonder how much of this is down to the better initial bite of the CL06's Im running, RS29's are supposed to be a lot better once they get warm, I might consider upgrading if they suffer on track, we shall see.
  9. How is a 330ci 'far more practical' than an M3? Quite, if you buy a 46 M3 and dont use ot every day youre wasting it. M3 is slightly quicker than Zed but feels more sensible, and like any M car you have to cane it to get the best out of it. Im not a great fan of SMG but guess its a matter of taste Single best all round car in the word IMO, Id still take a 350 over one though
  10. Interesting, it has a tendency to literally move sideways under power, fortunately the TC is very good but you need a bit of driving experience or it would be a real widowmaker. LSD is definitely on the cards but the e-diff thing isnt as bad as you'd think. In real life performance its up there with anything Ive driven, including 500+ HP Skylines and 200SX's, its just this instant wave of mad acceleration that doesnt slow down - you have to be very careful that you remember that you need to brake earlier as you are invariably doing 40-60 mph more than you would be in a Zed for instance, thats a lot of speed to lose It was between a 1 and a Cayman, and while I really like the Caymans I just couldnt look past this, modified 1's are proper weapons - M235i was very good but I couldnt face the depreciation, 1M is excellent but you cant really modify it so N54 was the answer. Looking to get it to Spa ASAP to see what it can really do, I reckon at least 30 seconds off my 350's time round there and that wasnt hanging about ......... Im actually in Austria at the moment and ironically my hire car is a proper poverty spec 116i, hero to zero or what?
  11. Aye, my impressions were same as the OP, it didnt do any favours for the handling at all so I took them straight off and it felt much better. Weirdly, fitting 25mm spacers and ridiculous wheels all round a couple of years later improved the handling massively, so its not just unsprung weight at play here.
  12. The plate stayed with the old owner so you can do one Sounds realy nice, not loud but a sweet straight 6 that gets racier as you get up the revs - Ive done my time with the loud looking and sounding thing, I wanted something a bit more low profile now. People still get out of the way on Motorways pretty quickly, and it still draws some glances but nothing like the old one did. Cant get over the speed of the thing though, its not one youd let just anyone drive
  13. New car is here and is scaring me regularly, so Z has to go to buy stocks of underpants. Get involved, you wont regret it
  14. So after 7 odd years of owning my 350 I decided it was time for something newer, faster and generally better ........... So I went and got this: Its an N54 (twin turbo) 135i thats had a few bits chucked at it - Bilstein suspension, M3 wishbones & tension struts, M3 front ARB, 335i rear ARB, uprated brakes, subframe bushes, exhaust trickery and has also had turbos, wastegates, VANOS, cams and followers, injectors, clutch and coilpacks all replaced under warranty. Oh, and theres this too: Thats a "safe" map, coz obviously 515 lb/ft of torque at just over 3K RPM is "safe", even safer when you are running Nankang NS-2R tyres in December. Its positively insane to drive, up there with the fast stuff Ive ever driven - spinning wheels in 4th at 110, reaching over 160 (on a private road of course) with another gear to go, making you resent your mind about where a braking point actually is (youre going 60mph faster than you usually are) and I bloody love it Ive been waiting for a while for one to come up and all I can say is that it was well worth it, if you ever see me ask for a ride as you wont regret it
  15. I wouldnt say that, but cheers I know what you mean though, getting my lifelong mate (and race partner back in the day) to Snetterton then seeing his face and hearing him gibber uncontrollably after a couple of passenger laps was magic, I dont think Id realised how far Id come on until then Going out after that and handing him his Exige driving ass in my missus' MR2 was pretty cool too
  16. The thing is, there needs to be quite a big difference in power/weight before theres a significant difference in performance, even just in a straight line. I regularly go out with 400+hp 200SX's and find theres very little difference in the way the cars perform despite them being considerably lighter and more powerful, by the same token Ive struggled to pull away from 182 Clios, and heaven forbid anyone mentions VXR's .......... Big power only makes a big difference at higher (i.e 100mph+) speed, and by that point aerodynamics, weight, gearing and all sorts are also in the mix, its not really something you can give a definitive answer to. I can say with a fair degree of certainty that youd hand the Aston its ass though and probably the BMW too, both are heavy with limited torque
  17. C'mon guys, wives, kids, pets are all a bit lame For me it was seeing the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park - diamond circle, full hospitality but more than that being able to take the Missus, my brother and my Dad who is obviously the reason Im a Stones fan in the first place. Been wanting to see them since I was about 8, but never had the money or opportunity - I remember turning to the old man when they played the first chords of Start me Up and saying "I made it Dad, I made it", still well up thinking about it Also finally doing Eau Rouge totally flat after two full Spa trackdays was a bit special
  18. Bugger me, Ive only been a wheel whore for about 10 years and even I couldnt tell the widths just by looking .......... Its dangerous just to guess, you only have to look at my wheelarches to see that .......... anyway, this one is 8.5 and 9.5, almost certainly ET15 and ET18 respectively: If I was you Id be going 9.5 ET15 and 10.5 ET25 knowing you might need a bit of an arch roll, but then Id also recommend 19's in the first place too
  19. I work in Bourn near Cambridge as well BTW, let me know if youre going to sort something out
  20. Ahhh, sorry, missed the 10K bit - you can still get an SLK for that but not a diesel one If it has to be diesel, a bit sporty and interesting and shes already had a 1 series there not much else out there, good luck though Oooh, how about a Brera diesel?
  21. RWD, 150mph, 6.8 to 60 does not an effeminate car make How about a TT? Can I ask you a question, do you even like me? I like everyone, but even if I didnt I cant stand by and watch a man buy a @*!# car
  22. Tell us more Will .......... Not pain for me, but driving a dune buggy with no brakes, seatbelts, bolts in seat mounts, instruments or anything else for about 2 hours down a single lane Brazilian Highway, in the pitch black, with no lights at all, trying to follow a faster dune buggy that had headlights but no taillights. Regular massive water filled craters. And my best mates parents in the back. It had one working offside indicator which I was putting on every time something (invariably a massive lorry half on my side of the road) came towards me, we were using phones for light (seriously) and somehow we made it. Relief didnt even cover it, Ive never been as terrified in my life.
  23. A diesel TT starts from £30K but shes still trying one of them, whats your point?
