  1. It meant I could get a picture of Rodin in though, Im all for it
  2. Define cheap. Done to the tightest budget possible, ideally at home using your own labour, secondhand parts sourced yourself and a bit of ingenuity. Like we used to modify cars back in the day before your Garage D's and Norris Designs existed. No that I want to answer Steves Q but if Wasso was doing all the work himself, forgot about any non functional styling mods, had sourced a less expensive engine (SBC rather than LS) then chucked a homebrew supercharger on it Id be a lot more inclined to think of that as a rod.
  3. OK then, Steve is the master of the Hot Rod. So whats the modern day definition of a Hot Rod Steve? Are Wasso and Ian making Hot Rods? If you spend more on suspension than power does that make it something else? Ill still stick with the one Ive posted a couple of times here, something thats modified on the cheap to go fast in straight lines.
  4. I sat behind a guy in a Citroen C2 today who pulled into the DC outside lane to overtake a lorry, then pulled back in behind it as he couldnt complete the move in over 3/4 mile. I then watched with amusement* as he changed lanes no less than 4 times WHILE ACTUALLY ON 2 roundabouts. It seems the horn on my new car is quite loud. * Actually apoplectic rage.
  5. With the greatest of respect, EVERYTHING is easier to sell than a petrol 2 seat 3.5 V6 modified car ............ and yet thats exactly what you are looking for I was talking about a Golf, Focus etc. which I dont think is really very strange .......
  6. Rasco sent me a PM as well and as Ive just said to him, Ive got no problem with feedback but felt I needed to make comment myself as a few of the points were a little inaccurate, particularly the length of time Ive been "trying" to sell it Good luck finding what you are after mate
  7. Bump again as its going on PH and ebay this week As per a concern from an interested party, it has not actively been for sale since July, I decided I was going to keep it for a bit so let the ads die off. Its also never been on a drift cay but has been driven sideways - big difference there
  8. WOAH, hang on a second there mate, I think youve got the wrong end of the stick a bit. Ive only really actively been trying to sell the car since I bought my 135i, which was 12/12/14 - its advertised here, SXOC and Driftworks and thats it, as you can see Ive only bumped the thread about 3 times as well as I havent actually wanted to sell it until I have to sell it The gap from July to December was because I took it to Wales and decided it was too good to get rid of! Its never done a drift day, just been slid about a bit and with the greatest of respect, thats no more wear and tear than fast road driving. It has done track days but frankly I dont really understand buying a 160mph car and then not stretching its legs ...... I can appreciate the fact it was damaged at one time might put you off but its pretty clearly been extremely professionally repaired with all new panels, youd have to do this to make it look like it does anyway. Regardless, I need to move it on now Ive got the 1 so it will be going on ebay and Pistonheads this week and if it doesnt shift Ill consider dropping the price a bit further, I just dont want people to get the wrong idea that its been difficult to sell/competitively drifted/built from a write off as none of that is the case
  9. Nothing to argue about - if being in Hot Rod magazine makes it a Hot Rod then a 1.0 Fiesta is a "Fast Ford" ............. and I aint having that
  10. Anyone actually driven them all to be able to compare? Anyway, its this one: /thread
  11. MX5's are much more fun than an E36 on track .......... although I do have a track prepped (coilovers, welded diff, manifold etc) E36 that Ill be sticking up for sale later
  12. You will but only if you lose the seat rails and put the seat on the floor. My mate Deacon is about 6'4 and well over 20 stone and he is fine with his (although he does look like Donkey Kong)
  13. Read what I said, if you dont understand it I can use smaller words.
  14. The E36 323i and 325i were both 2.5's and had identical torque output, the 328i was a 2.8 but had 1hp more. WHY?
  15. And Im sorry, but the car in the video is an engine swapped S13, the same as has been done a million times in Japan, Europe and the USA. You can compare what we are doing now to the 1950's as much as you want, but that doesnt make everything a ht rod, it just means that we are still modifying cars to make them go faster. Ive always understood a Hot Rod to be a light, cheap car modified in an original way at home to go as fast as it could in a straight line by adding power and removing weight, the cars were them generally drag raced against other homebrew specials. Seeing as few bother removing weight, most concentrate on handling and braking, generally pay someone else to do the work and then tend to use their cars on non competitive trackdays I dont really see the parallel between what we are doing now and what the original Rodders were up to. Oh, and just as an aside, do a Google Search for Hot Rods ........... the result seems pretty conclusive to me.
  16. Aye, Ive just bought a 135i remapped to 430hp/525 lb/ft for about that, its a weapon. Youre not far off 996 Turbo money there either, E9* M3s are 400hp and so are XF-R, Lexus IS-F, M5 is closer to 500.

    wheel fittment

Pretty awful wheels as well, Id be looking elsewhere myself.
  18. Yes it is Only thing Id say is that running 20x11 and 20x13 is going to cost and arm and a leg in tyres, and might do very "interesting" things to the handling.
  19. So why did I get rid of the 15/20mm spacers after a few days but think the car handles better on 25mm spacers all round? Voodoo, thats what it is. ETA: Hang on, how does a spacer affect castor, even a 50mm spacer wouldnt have any effect on that ......... and jacking AFAIK only really gets taken into consideration on race cars as theres less flex in the chassis and bushings. Are you overcomplicating this by any chance?
  20. Call me harsh, but thats comparable to claiming against a farmer because you got a puncture driving over his field. I could understand if it was an unavoidable 5 inch hole in the middle of the A73 .......... but us country types get that at the side of every road, and on the way into most non residential property. Sorry to say it but the responsibility not to try driving over the surface of the moon is entirely on your shoulders. If its not the first time youve done it then Id just count yourself lucky it hasnt happened sooner.
  21. Id be amazed if you got anywhere with this TBH, if you drove off the edge of the driveway then that would probably be the argument as to what caused the punctures. Like Ekona says, if there were 5 of you with punctures you might have more luck but if youre the only one ...........
  22. Driftworks do some gorgeous steering wheels
  23. Aye, the 370 looks better than a Cayman, is a bit nicer inside and thats about it, as Ive said elsewhere the Cayman feels like a ext generation car compared to a Z33/Z34. Id add the 2014 PDK Cayman S is probably the single best road car Ive ever driven, its astonishing.
