  1. Or you buy one with all of that done and save about £10K. Like I did FTR on an N54 you dont need turbos or downpipes to see 430hp, an intercooler and Cobb Device is whats required and will save a chunk of money there and if you can find and fit S/H ARBs and suspension theres more to be saved too However fuel goes down to between 22 and 26 mpg, tyres die very quickly and its extremely difficult to stay under 120mph
  2. I apologise to the OP in advance for this but what are the police supposed to do? Hes seen a dodgy ad with a dodgy price and has sent a large sum of cash to a mysterious person without getting any additional information or even checking they have the car in the first place. Its tantamount to walking into a pub youve never visited before and handing £4K to a random bloke at the bar, then going to the police 2 weeks later and saying youve been robbed. Sorry but its not the banks, the police or Pistonheads that are to blame here.
  3. Are they quick? I love the way they look and Id imagine they handle pretty well too, but I couldnt face being left behind by a mid range hatch of a big diesel Panzerwagon ....... Tell me this doesnt look cool though:
  4. More of a GT car than a sports car IMO, its definitely very fast but isnt as a sharp as an M3, TBF its a bit softer than a Nismo 370 or possibly even a 350Z. I drove it straight after the M235i and could feel the extra weight and slightly duller response - if youre after a coupe by definition you dont need space, and when the M235i is a better drivers car and kinda leaves you wondering why the 435i exists - the 2 is cheaper, faster, more powerful, lighter and handles better and is only a little smaller in the back. Weird. For the record the 2 is better than the F21 1 Series as well, the front end feels noticeably better and it feels more direct to drive. And doesnt look The 435 is very, very pretty though and nicer in pretty much every respect than the old 335 coupe, the 8 speed auto is amazing for a single clutch gearbox too This article sums it up pretty well, strangely enough the cars in the pics are the same colours as he ones I drove too http://www.autoweb.co.uk/headtohead/bmw-m235i-vs-bmw-435i-m-sport
  5. Standard exhaust is lowest where it loops under the back axle IIRC, mine has been better with the stainless on it, I seem to suffer with front bumper worst, but Im slightly tilted forward on 18/19s front and back. Dont think the sump is particularly exposed, and other than the exhaust they arent too bad, my 328 scrapes EVERYWHERE - front, sills, chassis rails, subframe, its hilarious

Mate, if youre going to quote something at least make sure its supporting your own point ........ the first is from your link, the second is me about 3 posts ago up there ^^ And seeing as you are fond of quotes, this is from Continental's website: In the UK, as there is no legal requirement to use winter tyres, the term "summer tyres" doesnt really mean anything other that "a tyre that isnt classified as a winter tyre", everything is a "summer tyre" from a MPSS through to a Chingdu Widowmaker
  7. If it was advertised on PH then surely they must have given a phone number?
  8. You dont realise how much you need a decent seat until you get one
  9. Leather seats + drifting = seasickness Seriously, Id be looking at getting a bucket in there so you can concentrate on driving the car rather than keeping yourself from flying out of a window. Ive not messed with the lock on mine, do you think grinding back the lockstops will give you much more lock? Any danger of it going past centre?
  10. This isnt a scam, this isnt 419, this is straightforward theft. I went to extreme lengths when I bought my last car to make sure nothing could go wrong (as did the seller), despite us both being forum admins, having mutual friends and both being sat in the bloody thing on the way to the bank and back, you cant be too careful
  11. Hold on while I unpack my crystal ball ......... oh bugger, seems I left it at home today Ahh, Im feeling generous ........ this is all off t'internet so may not be totally accurate. Standard is 5.4kg/mm front and 6.1 rear on a 2004, from 04 onwards the rears went to 7.6. Nismo S-tune are 8.1 and 8.9 respectively. BC's are 10/8 HSD Monopros are 14/7 HSD Dualtechs are 12/11 Meister R (dual) 10/8 Meister R (single) 10/5 Tein Street 9/9 Ohlins NIS 10/7 Cusco 10/7 HKS Hipermax III 9/9 Apexi N1 10/8 Tanabe Sustec 10/8 Megan Track 12/10
  12. Thats down to spring rates, not dampers, you can spec lower rates on HSDs IIRC.
  13. Police nicked him for speeding, CPS decided to make it DD from what I was told.
  14. True story this ...... the fastest car ever caught on a speed measuring device by the police was a Veyron - IIRC it was a 3am blast on an empty motorway and the rumour was that the police had him on film doing 220mph or something equally ridiculous. Rather than get him for speeding they took him to court for Dangerous Driving. Being a Veyron driver the chap wasnt short of a bob or two so got Nick Freeman to represent him, who successfully argued that 220mph on an empty motorway at 3am in a Veyron was not, in fact, dangerous, and the charge was dropped. Amusingly, as UK law doesnt allow the CPS to "reduce" the level of the crime they couldnt wind it back to speeding so the guy walked free. As for speed, Ive got biker mates who regularly hit their 300 km/h limiters and Ive gone pretty close to that and past it in Germany and on track, if the conditions and the car are right its no more dangerous than doing the speed limit in heavy traffic IMO.
  15. Think of something else made in the last 10 years thats RWD, reasonably powerful and has an LSD as standard. Now discount the BMW M cars as they are too expensive to go driving into walls and other cars, and youre left with the 350Z.
  16. The noise my Range Rover makes ......... Oh, and this
  17. Thought this would be the case. A 350Z on track will be pretty closely matched to the cars youve mentioned, acceleration to 60 doesnt really have anything to do with it once youre moving anyway. I regularly go out with a group of lads with Clios, S2K's, Modded Coopers S's, FI MX5's and it comes down to the drivers, even the GTR's that come out with us are doing pretty similar as the drivers arent as experienced. However, one thing I can tell you is that those of us in the RWD cars have more fun over the course of a full day. The only thing Id say is after a while youll start to feel the weight of the Zed and youll start to want more power, hence why Im selling mine As a car to drive to track they are difficult to beat for the money, the only stuff that comes close are Boxsters, E36/E46 M3's and S2K's and those all have their own failings too
  18. Good review that, Ive had a few 320d's as hire cars (and have driven just about everything else BMW sell) and they are bloody good cars, it has to be said. You mention the Jag XF, for me its the only real competitor - the Audis and Mercs look nice but are a bit bargey without being as nice to be in as the Jag, Fords/Vauxhalls and Jap iron dont have the quality and anything you actually lust after will not be as practical. If youre doing any kind of miles then fuel is a consideration, the big V8s are awesome but 15-18mpg puts a heavy strain on the wallet, even with cheap fuels these days. The Mk7 Golf and M135i are well worth a look on that account, nearly as quick and nearly as practical as an RS4 but 35+mpg all day long cant be ignored.
  19. 14 replies and only one mention of gearing, poor show lads Ricky is right, swap the final drive (easiest way is either changing the crownwheel of the diff or the whole damn thing) for something shorter and be amazed, at one time I had a 2 cars running SR20's in the same chassis, one was 270hp and one was 400hp ......... but the 270hp was at least as quick to 70 as it was running a 3.9 (or shorter, we never found out) diff as opposed to the 4.36 in the 400hp car. Top speed was 135 and about 175 respectively though, you dont get nothing for nothing ETA: Removing weight, lightweight flywheel, sticky tyres and remaps will all also help but you ont get the same acceleration gain you would with changign the final drive

Or be able to drive well outside of them, thats always a laugh too
  21. Id add that its a matter of taste, I found the M335/M435 a bit soft and wobbly, particularly for such a quick car, far prefer 1M and M3 which are supposedly even harsher The active damping is very good though, but better in a 1 or 2 Series

    Tyre Stretch

I'm sure chizfab in Lochgelly could sort you out, heard a few good things about them. http://chizfab.com/ The boys would definitely sort you out, alternatively Id put money on someone at Driftland having one and helping you out
  23. A 430hp M135i coupe with M3 footwork It cost quite a lot more though TBF Rommel - Ive not remapped but it has plenum spacer, decats, exhaust, air filter so is probably prime for it - Ive done a few trackdays with an UpRevved and stripped Zed and theres literally nothing in it so its a good un. Its done 155K km, and Im on a trade policy but I dont think insurance would be much higher than a UK car these days, the parts are all the same and theres plenty about

Sorry, but this is totally wrong, more pressure will lead to less contact patch and even less grip. They arent "summer" tyres, the XL index doesnt really make any difference (unless youre reunning an extra load ) .......... and without being funny, just buy performance tyres for your performance car, its not that hard. Id also reiterate that the NS2R is an extremely good tyre despite being made by Nankang
