Straight up, Id ask to see the service manager and get him to justify that bill - it takes 2 seconds to confirm the roof isnt working, 10 seconds to check the fuse and 30 seconds to move a seat, but more importantly, you could and did do all of that yourself before taking it in. Id refuse to pay it, telling him he had just replicated exactly what I done already, there was no new information from their investiagtion and there were no special skills or tools involved.

"Technically" it looks like you were helping a mate out TBH - did you actually take 7 days holiday and tell him this is what you were doing? £50 also has to be 3/4 of a tank of fuel as well, were you really doing 100 miles each way every time? Did your mate see £150 of work (thats at least 10 hours hard graft IMO) every time you came in? If he had paid a local labourer £100 per day would he have got less? Sorry, but Ive seen this kind of thing before, one "mate" overpricing his time and input and the other thinking he was just having a "mate" help out, mate 1 then expects work to be done at knock down or non existent price. Whether you like it or not, in time, facilities and expertise the guy could have done at least £1000 of work for someone else, so the net cost of painting your car to his business is £1000, thats no small amount of cash for a start up. Its the difference between cost and price - just because I know my landlord only pays 85p a pint for beer doesnt mean I should expect him to give it to me for that, even if I have done him a favour recently. Likewise, if I pitch up a barrel of Becks Vier thats come into my p;ossession, he isnt going to pay me £3.50 per pint for it. Youve got to love all the experts, some great advice here ....... The guys Ive spoken to with it say handling hasnt really suffered, in most cases its better than OE and arguably as good as coilies but ride always improves - the cost is the major issue but if youre just looking to run uber low then check out lift kits like Stance Solutions, they can be used alongside traditional coilovers and dont cost anywhere near what air does. Having seen some of the recent tests (the GTR vid up there is a good one) Id be tempted to consider it as an alternative to a £1500 set of coilovers ......... except I spent a lot less than that on my coilovers BTW, bouncing cars and hitting switches is hydraulics, not air

If youre living overseas and working overseas then HMRC arent interested in you at all, if you are living in UK and working in a country where HMRC have a dual tax agreement you just have to prove that youve paid elsewhere and they will leave you alone again. Switzerland is a bit different as its non EU and has some very strange rules, but if BM is living permanently in Germany then he has to pay into the German system, its actually one of the only EU countries along with Austria where by rights you should start paying local taxes immediately, the 183 day rule doesnt apply.

I dont want to seem like Im having a go, but Ive only ever been on OPL trackdays, including 2 Circuit Days run events at Spa, another 5 of their events and 10+ from other companies including RSR IIRC, it seems to be the way these days and is always made clear before you book. Ive also never seen anyone overtake in a braking zone, and TBF I think its a little bit naughty to suggest that it happens, I cant imagine many marshalls or track day organisers letting that kind of thing fly. Hell, Ive organised 4 OPL trackdays myself with SXOC and weve only had one incident of someone trying to overtake under braking or on the wrong side, that said we are a car club so youd expect better manners. Likewise, thorough briefings and wristbands are standard form too, Ive no doubt the RSR days are excellent but its not really fair to suggest that other organisers are cheaper because they are more risky. Like I say, Im really not having a pop but trackdays have come on a lot in the last 4/5 years in my experience.
