Boom, and theres the crippler. If you live in or close to a city, then youve got buses, trains, reliable taxis, you can probably even cycle to where you want to be. If you dont, then anything running on a battery is not going to get you to work and back, knock down the shops, drop the kids off at various parties/clubs and get you home again, and those are just the expected journeys - what if you have to visit a relative in hospital, or go pick the mother in law up from the police station? It also looks like the charge points are mainly in cities as well, theres one about 5 miles from me, then another about 8 and the rest are 12+ miles away, theres only 3 high speed points within the cars range from my house

Toluene. Not entirely legal IIRC, but its what the fuel companies use to boost octane.

My other half is a Special Needs Co-ordinator at a Primary school and her view is that theres just more awareness now, bear in mind we dont have retards, thickos or remedials anymore, we have scientific terminology ........... to be fair theres a lot to be said for making a distinction between an autistic child, a dyspraxic and a kid with ADHD as they all need to be treated differently. I also believe that people who are telling you they are intolerant generally are intolerant - whether thats a product of genetic mutation, the diets we eat nowadays or the way you are treated and the food you eat as a baby I cant tell you, but I dont think people just make it up for attention. People who tell you they are gluten intolerant then eat a pizza are morons, however.

Can somebody tell me what a Zero Hours Contract is ?
docwra replied to WhackyWill's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I believe the government are banning the exclusive ones as they are exploitative, not really much denying that. The "contract" bit in the name is kinda a giveaway, you do get sick pay at SSP and you should accrue holiday as well. Sure, you might not have a job tomorrow, but you also dont have to give notice if you want to leave. I dont know why he did TBH, if yopu already own your house (as I imagine he does) and dont have to pay a mortgage then they arent a problem, and they dont have to be minimum wage - with Camerons background he could be a consultant PR advisor to 2-3 different companies at the same time and do a bit of callcentre work on the side as well I think he didnt want to remind everyone that he knew he would ever be out of a job the day he started at Eton, its hardly the "common man" is it? -

No, we arent typical by any means There is vast amounts of minimum wage work out there, pretty much any kind of unskilled labouring or production is minimum wage or just above, and youre right, the majority of people on ZHC's are lower paid workers but its by no means the divisive aspect that a lot of media are claiming. Sure, if you depend on a single ZHC for a very volatile employer it can be a feast or famine situation, but there is nothing stopping you picking up another ZHC, or another 3, or whatever suits you. If yorue good and work hard then IMO theres a very high likelihood of an employer converting to a full contract as well, as this is the only way to retain your services. The bottom line is that the employer is not being forced to pay for hours they dont need worked, the employee has the freedom to work when it suits them for any number of firms but everyone retains their rights if they are being exploited or treated unfairly. It also gives flexibility for parents, students, part time workers and even pensioners who want to do a bit but dont want to be tied to a 40 hour week .......... and HM Gov still gets the tax and NI thats due. The other option is cash in hand, the requirement for flexible workers will never go away, this is just a reasonably good way of regulating it. -
Awww, look at the narrow family wagon .......... If I can do it then anyone can

Read up's are pretty good for the cayman What a good porker that's not a 911 Rob They are ALL good cars, even the Boxster believe it or not. Clarkson has a lot to answer for. Cayman handling makes you wonder where the 350Z is keeping the extra 3000KGs

I own a recruitment company so Im pretty familiar with zero hours contracts, most of our guys are effectively on them as it allows much more flexibility. As I wrote on this very board the other day: zero hours contracts is just a formal version of casual work, you arent limited to only having one ZHC on the go at a time. We used to have a similar system, it was called "cash in hand" except you didnt get holiday, sick or pension and didnt have any rights. No offence but I dont think twobears understands the concept at all - if I run a restaurant and need 180 hours of waiters per week, I can put 4 people on 40 hour contracts and 1 on 20 hours ........ but I have to pay overtime if one of them is off sick, or on holiday, or training, or on maternity, or at a funeral or myriad other reasons. If I have 8 people on zero hours contracts, I can cover anything, they will average 22.5 hours per week and everyone has the flexibility to take other work, holidays etc. I can give the most hours to the hardest working staff, and I can operate a roster system so that its not the same people working Friday and Saturday nights. But the best bit is that all of my employees have rights - holiday pay, sick pay, minimum wage, tribunals etc. where if they were paid cash in had they wouldnt. As for demonise the poor, my lowest paid ZHC guy is on £18 per hour. Thats not "poor" by anyones standards, thats "flexible". And the alternative? Well, that would be cash in hand for casual work, is that really a better situation to be in? -
I do it at least twice a year, as long as youre careful then it will just about fit in the tracks, or you can chuck a wheel up on the walkway bit. My rears are a total of 172mm wider than stock, I doubt many people will be that wide TBH. Ground clearance is not an issue at all Fronts are 186mm wider as well if youre interested

I only looked at 3.4's as I felt the 2.7's wouldnt cut it - I wanted something faster than a 350Z, and I already knew the engine from 996's. Make sure you look at the later cars, if you can stretch to a facelift then they look much nicer IMO and the later engines didnt suffer bore scoring or IMS failure (both pricey, pricey problems) Best advice I can give you is to drive one, they are excellent fun and properly involving. Thats said, Im glad I took the route I did and left them alone until I can afford a 204 one

Was the "other" choice when I recently changed, excellent car to drive - balanced, responsive, pretty quick and feels quite light after a Zed, the 2014 model is an astonishing car as well. Compares very favourably against the 370 IMO, much better as a drivers car

Since I got my 135i Ive sold or stored all the old dailies - GTI6, 4.6 V8 Range Rover, E36 328i driftcar, I just didnt want to drive them anymore The missus has just got her MR2 back out of the garage for summer though, I dont think we will part with that one Even worse, I tried putting the 135i back to standard power from 400hp and its fuel economy is only about 1 mpg better, how does that work? Going back to 400 tonight

Weird, those captions were correct yesterday as I remember reading them.

A matter of taste - I like 911's but I doubt Id ever own one Saw a white Panamera Turbo racing a white Cayenne Turbo on a busy M25 a while back, it was like something out of Top Gun. Very fat but very, very fast.

Frankly speaking Im glad someone with opinions like that doesnt vote. Anyway, as far as immigrants, benefit fraud and everything else goes, its all a fallacy: The UK government estimates that total fraud across the whole of the economy amounts to £73 billion a year. UK government figures for 2012 estimate benefits overpaid due to fraud is £1.2 billion and tax credit fraud is £380 million. So just under £1.6 billion in total; less than 1% of the overall benefits and tax credits expenditure and less than benefits underpaid and overpaid due to error, and the vast majority of these will be in pension fraud. The biggest problem UK welfare faces as a whole at the moment is the changes that have been made to sickness benefit, apparently to reduce these "huge" fraud figures that dont actually exist, people are dying daily because essential benefit has been arbitrarily cut, sure, they can appeal but the benefit isnt given back until they win the appeal, many starve or commit suicide in the meantime ............ and yet none of the parties have mentioned this as it doesnt win as many votes as being "tough on benefit fraud", a problem that doesnt actually exist ......
