The Official "I'm going to Le Mans 24hr 2015!" Thread
docwra replied to Ekona's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
Aye, heading down with 32 people from 5 different countries to Houx, our theme this year is Winston Churchill so on Thursday we will all be dressing like him, speaking like him and drinking like him to a background of WWII and traditional British songs. Keep an eye out for the cars with Churchill stickers on them Also keep an eye out for the huge clouds of smoke created by our smoke machine and the 2 lasers for the disco, failing that we had the biggest marquee anywhere last year and we have a beer tap this year ........... -
420hp is low boost Honest answer (you arent going to like it) ......... unless you are a diehard 350/370 fan then buy something else thats newer, handles better, is safer, more economical and has more bells and whistles and more resale value. Even if someone offered to charge my 350 and make it the same power as my 135 I wouldnt do it, the 1 is just a much nicer place to be and a much nicer thing to drive. Couple that with the £7K you wont see back, the chance of increased unreliability and the fact that to 99% of the population you are still just driving an aging Nissan ..........

Life lesson: Never let your friends drive your car
docwra replied to wmr1980's topic in 350Z General
Gutted for you man, really am - the damage looks not dissimilar to my one and that was a write off, as Wasso says you could get it fixed without too much hass though However, Im not sure I agree with the "dont let your mates drive your cars" thing, Ive borrowed plenty of mates cars on the road and on track and let guys borrow mine too, sure its a risk but Id hope that as I do, my mates keep a bit in hand as its someone elses car. You have to be going some to make a 350 slide off the road, a lot of people on here would argue that you shouldnt be pushing that hard on the road at all, never mind in an unfamiliar car. And Im not going to ask the question, but if he was uninsured then Id just be glad he didnt hit something softer and more alive -
So using a map created for an individual car rather than 100,000 doesnt make any difference then? Trust me, Ive seen it, bought it and experienced it, a custom map will generally increase power and save fuel.

Or you could just divide the total area before by the total area after and multiply by 100 to get the average percentage increase. All of these numbers are just guesses, it would be good to get an actual figure IMO. They did let me run wider wheels, which meant wider tyres ......... TBF I was more referring to my driftcar where I didnt give a toss what it looked or sounded like as long as it worked as well as possible. Ive always been a function over form guy, while this might not be the case with everyone I thought your statement was a little general, a lot of people are ONLY interested in performance.
-
Then why dont you just say "Its the area under the graph that matters" then rather than stabbing about with percentages? Im not a statistician but Im sure with a bit of A level integration I could tell you the overall percentage gains between a standard car and an uprevved car. Likewise, believe it or not every mod I ever put onto my previous car was solely for performance, so whats with this exhaust analogy? If you include the manifold/headers and cat then you can see a very good increase in power just by changing the breathing, if I got another 40hp but the car sounded crap I could live with that. Also remember any power increase will reduce fuel consumption if youre driving at the same speed

Theres 1.7m unemployed and 800,000 jobs being advertised. As for the protesters, they would have kicked off regardless of what happened. Defacing a war memorial and smashing up @*!# is not a protest against the government, the voting system or anything else, its just criminal damage.
-
If its road legal you want it close to your house really, otherwise theres no point keeping it road legal ......... Id add that a proper trcktoy invariably needs a lot of fixing so again is good to have close, a clio or MX5 you could leave anywhere and just turn up and drive it
-
They failed to do up the nuts on two of my wheels once, the front wheel was held on by one finger tight nut only. They also tried to hit my missus up for new brake pads when we had changed them less than 6 weeks previously, and thats just my experiences ........

How are you finding it refinement wise? Kaaz's can be a bit clonky and noisy sometimes
-
Thats your mate, not Kwik Fit in general
-
You seem to have missed that a fair few people dont really share the "anything over 70mph is suicide" attitude, but frankly you have no excuse if youre using tyres you havent ever heard of. As for Kwik Fit, if you find anyone anywhere with a good word to say about them Ill give you a tenner

350z drifting at beginning of welcome to the jungle by Axe Black
docwra replied to veef13's topic in Spotted or Flyered
Hes not British and thats not drifting. Other than that I cant help -
I was at Wembley for that one, great atmosphere, not a good boxing venue though. Still free booze, we got absolutely leathered
-
Yeah, Ill have to give you that, shame he wasnt a few stone heavier. Fraudley on the other hand, wasted talent
-
Nice work Pritchard, I was nearly going to have to sign up so there'd be at least one person giving it the large
-
Coz oversteer is more likely to kill you than understeer as its considered easier to control. If you have more grip at the back than the front you are much less likely to oversteer and you are more likely to not die as a result
-
If you think that is in any way comparable to breaking the speed limit by a few MPH youre a retard. My Zed sounds like that to the point my brother just asked if it was mine, I can do the blipping and banging off the limiter as well, do I win a prize?

Rather like Amir Khan, the British public thought he was amazing and unstoppable, but as soon as he faced anyone decent he was shown up as a bit of a fairy really. See also Frank Bruno, Audley Harrison, Herbie Hide, David Haye .........

Bollocks. -
If youre going to Santa Pod then theres usually a tyre man there anyway, he will supply and fit or just fit, its up to you Pod will teach you the basics but if you can get on a proper track I think it would do you more good, Gerards at Mallory Park taught me soooo much its ridiculous but 110mph in 4th is quite a long way removed from 45m,ph in 2nd as well

Try soaking them in coke, you never know. And pics if they are 57f Pros, I only know of 5 sets in decent sizes in the country, I literally waited 4 years to get hold of a set myself -
This would be my thought, Ive only ever noticed a "difference" when going from standard to £300+ pads, and even then its not much

If you want drift RC Driftworks has a whole section dedicated to it

350Z handles far better than a S chassis but then its a 20 year newer design. It doesnt feel as quick as you dont get the turbo push, but a stock Z33 will keep up with a 350/400hp S14 on track without too much difficulty. Its a lot heavier and feels it so not really a race car, but as a daily its far better than the S14 or even an S15 IMO. Ive stuck a couple of threads up on www.sxoc.com comparing the two, a few other Zed owners have chimed in and we are all pretty agreed However, bear in mind a decent S14 is what, £4K these days? An S/C Zed is going to be over twice that, likely 3 times and maybe 4 times as much, do the same maths on the S/C car and you are comparing it to secondhand 991 and F type Jags and brand new Caymans, thats hardly fair
