  1. Wheelgenie at Huntingdon are superb, and pretty cheap too
  2. Disregard this man immediately, the C63 and RS4 particularly sound awesome. Ive tried most of these as I was in a similar position a while back. The RS4 isnt particularly exciting but is very nice looking and the estate is practical, the C63 is really good but very, very juicy and the M3 handles better ......... but then Lexus IS-F feels more special and the XFR is probably the best car, but I still cant help feeling its one for my Dad. It would be close between the Lexus and the BMW for me, Id probably go Lexus after much consideration. If I didnt care about corners Id buy a full fat Range Rover Ive not tried a Stang but if it comes close to any of the above in terms of quality, dynamics and design Ill eat my trousers.
  3. If you want to play that game then £6500 will take this one away:
  4. Erm, thats kind of the point dude, you dont know thats all thats wrong with it
  5. Thats probably not far off its weight limit you know ...........
  6. Although Im selling a blue, 03 import with 100K miles as well ........... I wouldnt risk it if it has a gearbox prob. As I said on a similar thread yesterday, if its a straightforward fix why hasnt the seller done it?
  7. If its no fault you might be in with a chance of a like for like replacement, the fact it was Limited Edition would probably support that further. Good luck
  8. By the same token we charge on SXOC as its allowed us to buy equipment including a van, marquees, pro spec barbeques and the like and to put on much bigger events (this year we are hiring Rockingham for a weekend, Ill be putting some info up on here a bit later). What you cant be doing is taking that money and using it to pay staff or offset their fees, to provide sponsorship for a favoured member or just to make it disappear and then run off when you get asked about it. Yes, all three of those have happened.
  9. If its a "cheap and easy" fix, why isnt the seller doing it themselves? Always walk unless youre getting shedloads off the price
  10. Would I go to work if my Dad had a heart attack? Errr, yes, particularly if I had a rep for letting people down time after time.
  11. It probably can mate, I was just clutching at straws
  12. You havent put the camber arms on back to front or something have you? My car is lowered on HSD's with massive wheels but Im struggling to see how that can affect toe .........
  13. I dont understand, how do you know its toeing out? Are you at the limit of adjustment on the toe bolts? As with Ekona, I cant see how a wheel change will affect toe
  14. Keep up doc - post #9 ^^ Fair play, I was just providing evidence that I wasnt some fly by night pikey looking cowboy who regularly got asked which skip at the dump to use* ........... @ Ekona - the stolen goods kind of fencer, obvs. * This happened enough times that I stopped protesting my innocence and just pointed to a random skip
  15. I used to be a fencer and if its your fence, youre replacing an existing fence and you arent changing the boundary line or making it higher then tell her to swivel, you dont need planning permission to fence off your property. The fact that there are other similar fences there kind of says it all. Google: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/fenceswallsgates/ As for removing posts, easily the best and most fun way is plucking them out with a JCB but you will need a JCB to start with
  16. Define "investigate further" - Ill have quick look, but I wont be taking wheels off or anything unless its severe, and in that case I wouldnt be driving the car in the first place. FWIW I wouldnt be minutely checking the tyre as its not actually part of the braking system, if there was a tyre fault it would be doing it all the time. I dont know if youve ever travelled in a taxi, or a 15 year old family hatch, or anything made by Italians but if you fully checked every minor issue every time you would never actually get to drive the car. If theres something noticeably wrong with your car then of course you have to have a look, but to suggest that the guy is endangering peoples lives because he isnt carrying out a full inspection over what was obviously a fairly unintrusive issue is a bit much IMO.
  17. Im sorry, but thats some of the most self righteous crap Ive read on here, and Ive read plenty. Why not go the whole hog and remove the calipers, hubs, all of the steering arms and bushes and check they are still within manufactirers tolerance - if you dont you might be "putting yours and other road users lives at risk" ............ in fact, Id just start taking the bus to be safe. If a car is only vibrating under braking then its unlikely to be the tyres any more than the clutch or the crank pulley, and unless it sounds like someone smashing on the chassis with a hammer its unlikely to be anything major. Potentially catastrophic issues tend to give you a bit more warning than a bit of a shake once in a while. Out of interest when did you last check the whole of your tyres, your wheel rims and your brake disks for any damage?
  18. Always a lot of high horses around in threads like this 1. Federals arent cheap tyres. 2. Brake judder is pretty difficult to get out and check, and is hardly unheard of on RWD cars, its usually bushes ......... which an MoT is an ideal opportunity to check. Id say thats been damaged somehow, if you had the arches touching the tyres over a long period youd see exactly that kind of damage, it might just be bad luck though.
  19. We were outside waiting for a cow to take a @*!# (long story) and knew it was coming close ......... but we could only hear it, not see it
  20. The guy flying it is a mate of mine, hes always happy to take new passengers TBH that episode just made me look forward to the "new" TG's even more, even as a massive fan Id have to admit it was a bit hackneyed and worn out. A few fresh ideas and a different style and Ill be happy as a sandboy
  21. Hang on a second here, although I know youve been through your tribulations Im not sure what youre saying is entirely correct mate. 195 on 9.5J is a lot of stretch, but its not illegal and Ive seen plenty of people with similar stretch drive round without any problems, on track and the road, 225 on 10 is 100% fine. Any wheel can be a "track wheel", you just have to make sure they dont rub arches, and while camber and stretch can do that, pulling an arch is a lot easier and means you can run a flatter camber, get that done first. There is absolutely no point buying sweet rims and then leaving the car at standard height, it wont reduce rubbing as the spring and damping rates are lower and it just makes your car look crap, as demonstrated by yourself and Dougie before they were dropped. Bottom line is that you can make anything fit anything if you put enough time in, but its not worth doing if it makes the car look or handle like crap, strong fitment isnt really something you can do in stages IMO. And no real wheel whore ever, ever raises their car because they are getting tyre contact, get that arch pulled some more. You know Im right
  22. Exactly what I was thinking, if one of your wheels was lifting slightly the stupid car would start trying to "sort it", best off unplugging the ABS module. And before anyone says it, ABS doesnt work in reverse on most cars, I found that out the hard way.
  23. Anything bespoke will be the winner, I know BG Motorsport do Ohlins and I know a guy at Nurburgring who does the same. Id imagine youd be looking at getting on for double figures but its "the best", what do you expect?
  24. Been discussed at length on Driftworks.com, can be worthy if youre short of space, one of the lads boot mounted a turbo in the boot of a Merc to great effect ETA: not sure its viable for a 350, youd have to cut into the boot floor and @*!# and the fab costs would outweigh the gains
  25. IMO the standard 350Z calipers and discs are more than good enough - team them up with braided hoses, decent fluid and SERIOUS pads like Pagid RS29 or Carbon Lorraine RC6 and you can pretty much make the back wheels lift off the ground Unless theres something wrong with your disks Id spend the money elsewhere
