  1. I think he was going to be found guilty from day 1, the rumour is he was told he would be made an example of. Got to be honest (and I would say this) but with spotters, on an empty road at 4am or whatever I dont really see that as risky, youre only going to slide your car off the road at 40 mph into a field at the end oft he day. As for this one .......... I cant see what he did wrong other than drive too fast, DD when you cant actually see what was in front of him is a pisstake and prosecuting someone on what his passenger is saying is like something out of a comic book. Absolute bullshit.
  2. Cracking post And youre right, the 370 was released bang in the middle of everyone running for the hills from their juicy sportsters and trying to find the most economical thing possible, a grunty 4l 2 seater isnt that. I also think it lost out because it wasnt a major step forward over the 350Z in styling or (arguably) dynamics and a lot of people just went for the cheaper one, bear in mind the oldest 350's were nearly 7 years old when the 370 came out, I know I didnt really see it as enough of an improvement to put my hand in my pocket at the time. I still cant see it ever being a "classic" though Are there any other examples of cars that didnt get the acclaim or sales they should have done do you think?
  3. Its not sold for £20K though has it? I take it youve never visited http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/ ? And how many cars have you owned where you could have stored them for 10 years and made absolutely nothing? Its all relative at the end of the day, like I say you may well be able to make a bit on a 370Z, but how much are you going to make on a Porsche Boxster Spyder, or a BMW 1M for instance? We had a thread the other day listing future classics and there are a few good suggestions, sadly I dont think the 370Z was one of them
  4. No, a motorway is exactly the same as a racetrack, some might say safer as visibility is generally better. I dont know if youve noticed but "slightly obscured" junctions tend to have bloody great big blue signs up 2 miles before them, if you dont notice that then you arent paying attention ......... Ive had a bird hit my screen at 120, apart from the RVM ending up on the rear parcel shelf it was no worse than stone flicking up. Likewise, hitting a deer at 70mph is going to be just as bad as 120 (particularly if youre on a bike) The one thing I will agree with is that you have less time to react, and the potential for carnage is much higher, but theres no greater risk in the first place IF you are driving attentively. My logic is that Ive done 170+ on autobahns and racetracks and Im comfortable controlling a car thats travelling at that speed. This doesnt mean Im going to start smashing past traffic at twice the speed limit, or using the full width of a blind bend, but it also doesnt mean that as soon as I leave the track limits Im unsafe at anything over 70, and I dont really appreciate people telling me otherwise.
  5. ...and worth about 47p. Ha! That said, good 90s celicas, supras and Mitzi 3000 GTOs arnt cheap any more. Dude ........ Celicas are 10 a penny, 3000GTOs are makign a bit but only because most have rusted or been barryed past the point of no return. Supras are probably the single most iconic Japanese sports coupe (Skyline was a sedan ) ever produced and the engines and gearboxes are still as good as it gets, of course they are going to be worth a bit. The 370 is a 2nd gen car that didnt really catch on, maybe an absolutely mint stock one with <10K miles will be worth a bit in 15 years but theres myriad other cars that will be a better investment I cant see any major changes to the 370 now either, its getting a bit long in the tooth and I reckon they need a blank piece of paper next time round
  6. Why? In real terms what the difference between an empty motorway and the Kemmel straight? Except the motorway is wider, of course. This "speed kills" stuff is bullshit, inattentive driving kills people. That includes speed when the conditions arent right for it, but if it was just "speed" that killed why dont we see more casualties on trackdays? God forbid anyone tells airline pilots or train drivers as well ......... Maybe Im cut from a different cloth but I dont get this holier than though attitude to going faster than 70mph, you can be safe no matter what speed you are doing if youre aware and alert to the conditions.
  7. I can see the argument, for excitement my MR2 and GTI-6 are both probably better and it doesnt come close to Evo, Integrale, S13 .......... but when youre comparing it to everything out there, including 1.0 Automatic Austin Metros I struggle to see how anyone in their right mind could call the Zed the boring one. I got a lot more from mine after I started tracking it, and if anyone is finding theirs is starting to become a bit familiar Id suggest a bit of drifting too
  8. Fair play man, good luck with the sale - as Ekona says, your IMOC boys seem to think its worth the money so Im not going to argue. However, when it comes to wheel enthusiasts: That was my cellar about a year ago - at the same time I had a set of Gram Lights 57f fitted to my Onevia, SSR Type C and Gewalts on my driftcar and this on my driveway: If the set on my 350 arent worth £1800, Im pretty sure yours arent either. BTW, they are usually called stepped lips, I didnt take a close enough look and thought they were DDCs. Definitely more desirable but I sold a mint set of 10x18's for less than a grand last year.
  9. Errr ...... I dont want to "that guy" but £7K is pretty high for an MR2, can you tell us why its so much? And Im sorry, but £1800 for a set of weak size 17 inch Equips with DDC lips is utter madness. ETA: Bear in mind youre asking for a 350Z that's 11 years newer and probably half the mileage of your car as a straight swap, thats a difficult sell for anyone.
  10. Im struggling with this as well, its a 300hp 2 seat sportscar, have these people never driven anything with 4 seats or something? Some of them are ricockulous, 2 x BMW 330i, C30 Polestar, Mk1 Scirocco GTI, Mk1 Golf GTi, 200SX (I know the guy who said that as well and he loved it at the time), Audi S3, Fiat Coupe, DSG Golf GTI, Boxster, E92 M3, Range Rover Vogue SE, Fiant Uno Turbot and I stopped after 5 pages. Seriously, what a bunch of up themself pricks, there are some of the most fun cars Ive ever driven in that list. Surely trolling?
  11. FTR the S-04 is the replacement for the RE050A, which IMO are the next best tyre Ive run on 350Z after MPSS
  12. Yesterday was banter and taken as such, going on to post the same thing less than a day later is just a bit , the same as the MPSS thing EVERYTIME has become. Bants have a use by date, they dont last forever And it wasnt your car, it was the other drifty one, apologies.
  13. Are you just following me around sniping or or something? Im trying to give the guy some advice from over 20 years of experience - I guess when you asked me what your car was worth that was just me bigging myself up was it? I do know what Im on about, I dont see any reason to self depreciate on this. Ive noticed you doing this with Ekona as well, is it just jealousy? Do you feel better about yourself when you call people out and try to make them look stupid?
  14. While what Ekona says is totally right, Im a tyre expert because Ive been driving and drifting RWD cars since I was 20 (that was quite a while back now) and if I havent tried 20 different types Id be surprised, I went through 8 sets of rears on my Zed in the first 12 months I owned it. Wear ratings can sometimes be useful, but the grip rating is nonsense, if your shopping trolley tyres are an A then whats an RE050A? A MPSS? A Uniroyal Rainsport? AAA++++A++??
  15. Ive got uprated mounts and Im sure I feel a difference ........ but engine dampers IME are only really used for proper wobbly engines with large turbos hanging off the side of them, not sure youd see any benefit
  16. Just call me the black sheep but Ive sorted a few outside of insurance now, you just need to get him to sign a witnessed "no further action" letter. Your choice, if it was more major then I could understand going through insurance but as you say, losing £500 a year over a £200 claim seems a bit stupid. ETA: You need to report the accident to insurance anyway, Id imagine you still have cover against any personal injury claim going forward as part of the policy, worth asking them at least
  17. docwra

    Spring rates

From back in the day when I had time on my hands: Standard is 5.4kg/mm front and 6.1 rear on a 2004, from 04 onwards the rears went to 7.6. Nismo S-tune are 8.1 and 8.9 respectively. The convertible was 427lb if that helps at all ....... BC's are 10/8 HSD Monopros are 14/7 HSD Dualtechs are 12/11 Meister R (dual) 10/8 Meister R (single) 10/5 Tein Street 9/9 Ohlins NIS 10/7 Cusco 10/7 HKS Hipermax III 9/9 Apexi N1 10/8 Tanabe Sustec 10/8 Megan Track 12/10
  18. Thats an FR-S you tard, not an FRS. Like my wife, the MRS, well she drives an MR-S, the Toyota. Dont want to get them mixed up and end up taking the missus down the garage and going to vbed with the car, that would be stupid.
  19. @Ekona - get involved mate http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/99927-sxoc-weekender-rockingham-opl-on-a-saturday-for-175-with-food-drink-and-entertainment/page__hl__sxoc It may even have the M3 diff fitted by then, we shall see
  20. What, he started it? How is a TT Zed going past a FRS in any way relevant to this thread? I just thought Id jump on the penis wagon.
  21. TT means twin turbo, right? In which case my TT went past a new M5, you need to aim higher
  22. Ive got a DE Zed at 14.3 to 100mph, 14.2 for a standing quarter at 99mph. Power to weight is 184/ton, 60-100 8.4 seconds. A 2009 Cayman S is 11.2 and 13.1 @ 107. Power to weight 237hp/ton, 60-100 5.9 seconds. Even with a bit of manufacturer exaggeration, thats too far apart to be arguable.
  23. Nice cars but really juicy, even compared to a 350. Decat them and they make amazing noises though
  24. Quite. And anyone who reckons "they will be about the same in the twisties" hasnt driven the Cayman, its noticeably better. Sorry mate, but having driven both in the real world one after the other, the Porsche is faster and handles better, no question. This is why they cost more to start with and are now at least 3x the value of a used DE350. You werent having an all out closed road race, obviously, but if you had Im confident you would have seen a difference Out of interest, why didnt you just have a go in each others cars? Its a much better comparison, Id suggest it for next time
  25. Whatever, give me a car that has ludicrous in its name any day, thats awesome
