  1. No, none of the turbos have problems, 996 or 997 - the GT3's dont suffer either
  2. Whoever started this "GTR's drive themselves" thing is one hell of a marketeer ............ If youre driving a GTR, turn everything off, remove your brain and give it to a friend to look after, then do things you never thought were possible. Repeatedly. The feedback and all that are just as good, youre just going a shedload faster. The only thing Id knock it for is weight, if feels markedly bigger and less unwieldy, but that hardly unexpected.
  3. Out of interest, have you actually driven anything other than a 350Z and a Golf R32 as thats about the most desperate comparison Ive heard Your life must be a constant journey of learning and discovery.
  4. Decent power/cost ratio. Not if you take the Motec ECU into account as well I would add that porting without flow testing can often do more harm than good, its a dark art this NA tuning I tell yer
  5. Sadly I have to agree too, the VQ doesnt have anything going for it that would make it the first choice to chuck loads of money at and frankly speaking neither has the car its fitted in I could understand it in an M car, or a Porsche, or even an MR2 Roadster but it just seems like spending cash for the sake of it. It might be worth dropping a PM to Fake Ben Taylor on here though, I know he was having many of the same ideas not too long ago, there might be a better way of gettign to the top of the hill ........ but I doubt it
  6. Hmmm. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.liveleak....f=b50d220b37a3" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The link in the middle seems to work, strange.
  7. Theres a vid taken by a guy standing quite close, he was using a livestream app and you can actually see the shockwave heading up to, and then killing the poor dude ........... but its one of the most intense bits of footage Ive ever seen. Not everyones cup of tea, theres nothing gory but as I say, theres no way the cameraman survived, RIP. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=052_1439456804
  8. Seems like a good opportunity to stick this up: Thats the bottom end of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine, cant imagine the forces needed to bend the crank like that
  9. Yep, IMO theres nothing wrong with the OP's car. Minimum tyre width is usually much wider than you think but Ive never known anyone get pulled up on it, even running 225's on 9's. You can get nicked for vehicle condition but again, I cant see the OP's car falling into that either.
  10. Hate to say it but RE050A are worlds better than FK453's, is the reason that you dont like grip?
  11. Sadly a good friend of mine was converted to the darkside this week when he had a Tesla on test. My friends tend to be a bit less interested in range and stuff though:
  12. Errrr, "Buddy Club" and "Standard sounding" go together like "salt" and "ice cream" Custom exhausts can be pretty loud too unless you throw a few silencers in along the way
  13. Did the RE050a even exist when the 350z was designed? First 350's were rolling on Bridgestone RE040's from what I've read. Yep, and they are horrible, horrible things., I literally removed mine after about 200 miles of driving on them.
  14. How about an OEM exhaust and about £550 of change?
  15. We still have tickets left for this, get involved! Highlights this year will (hopefully) include a certain GTR engined BDC car doing grip, the Puman Centipede (6 identical Ford Pumas, you work out the rest) and a rather special Lambo as well .........
  16. Not crazy at all, I deliberately went for cloth as a) you dotn slide about on it as much and it wears much better than leather, my 100K examples look nearly new
  17. If youd have asked Id have told you
  18. For me, there simply arent enough events or circuits to be worth it anymore, youre better off sliding about on grip days and trying not to get black flagged But if I was going to do it all again, Id use a standard Zed with coilovers, seat and some kind of diff .........thats it. Id nick partworn tyres off local garages, IMO youre mad to spend money on tyres unless youre competing and Id try and make it to Lydden Hill and Driftland as much as humanly possible, as we always used to say its all about seat time. If you didnt already have a 350 then Id be telling you to buy an E36 and learn your trade, but if youre prepared to bend the Zed a bit then they are bloody excellent drift cars for sure. Dont get carried away and spend £1000's on your car, leave the interior and sound deadening in so its still nice to drive to and from events and apart from tyres you realistically will only need tobudget for a clutch a season, youll spend more on fuel and entry fees than the car itself I reckon. It is a proper laugh and theres a real camaraderie between drifters, its just a shame that we have lost a lot of the tracks we used to have back in the day. Once youre decent a bit of streeto once in a while doesnt hurt either, I still amuse myself from time to time on the daily commute Its a proper skill, once that can always make you smile and also teaches you masses about car control - all of the fastest trackday boys I know are ex-drifters as they have a better understanding of balance, and laugh in the face of death rather than panicking, in the wet you can spot the lads who have a bit of dori under their belts a mile off Get involved, its probably worth a bit more instruction ad for that Id highly recommend my good friend Chunk at Flatout Factory despite his lack of limbs
  19. I was impressed, IIRC there are 250 cars totalling about £45m - quite a lot of pre WW1 stuff, a few steam cars, some nice 50s and 60s and a few more modern things, the missus enjoyed it so it must have been pretty good I think it was £13 to get in, which was probably pretty fair, if you could get some money off for numbers it would be well worth a look Id say
  20. We did this the other day didnt we? Anything thats relatively low numbers and desirable. Not sure S2K's are on the way up yet though, surely there are too many of them?
  21. Fair enough, you clearly know what youre on about with Rolexes, Im not a fan myself so dont pay much attention to them. Ill try get a pic of my Patek up tomorrow, the detail is pretty astonishing. Some of the GF's Ive been offered are actually waterproof as well, they are getting better all the time
  22. And did you figure that out without comparing to a picture? If so, fair play, but by your own admission youd still struggle with an Omega for instance No-one is saying that you cant tell the difference, just that even to some gurus its not possible without close inspection
  23. You did that without checking the picture first, right? Otherwise that would just serve to prove what Ive been saying all along. WinkJ - the Rolex is a genuine fake, the other two are real.
