You have to do the clothes as well, we got so much attention witht he Churchill theme last year it made a great day even better - as well as the 1920's style clothes we started the day with a Whisky and Soda and then did a few bottles of champers, some gin, port and brandy and kept a 3 hour loop of old war songs playing in the background, rinsin like Winston Here is Algie and Ken (the war music came straight off his "most played" iPod list, the old bastard) looking the part

I say do it, go the full WW2 thing. Last years "Team Churchill" started off with this idea but we bottled it on the full logos, cant actually remember why My favourite was when we did the rude sponsorship stickers, below you can see Analstars, Penizoil, Agay, Bummer and Strap on, there were more as well

Fair enough - google image search "car park burnout" and theres a few potentials there Meant to say, well written and interesting article as well, keep up good work

Have to agree, when I drove this last year it was up for £21K IIRC: http://www.kgfclassiccars.co.uk/details.php?cid=313

I had a couple (8v and 16v) back in the day and still have much love for them, but the prices are becoming silly. Funnily enough the best place to buy them these days seem to be from Jap Auction, Ill have another one when I win the lottery

Its not really a new thing though, its just that social media means its being seen more, the Ace has been under threat of shutting since it opened back up again When I was a kid it was all about cherry bombs and cruises and I knew exactly where I could go if I wanted to street race, the only difference now is that you dont have to be part of the "scene" to have your face rubbed in it. Dont know why youve gone with a pic of a comp car drifting off road either, thats a bit MSN Network TBH ..........

Maserati Granturismo, Aston Vantage or ...... Decision P8

You should see the girls he knocks about with He knows how to make them look nice too: -
Wow, GTR owner in GTR is the best car ever shocker Did you miss the "Roads" and "Track" bit? All Im doing is giving an opinion, on the road the Cayman gives you more confidence, is a lot more nimble and doesnt feel like its down on power at all. Its a lot more fun and feels more of an event to drive at reasonable speeds too which is the GTR's major failing IMO. .

Maserati Granturismo, Aston Vantage or ...... Decision P8
docwra replied to Sam Mcgoo's topic in Other Cars
I can put it on here if you like: Ive had 4 mates own them now and all 4 regretted it pretty much after the first week, performance isnt all that, fuel economy is rubbish and running costs are painful. One of the guys (Cayman before, R8 after) reckoned it was the worst car he has ever owned ....... obviously its your choice but I wanted to give you the heads up Looks nice, sounds nice but not a lot after that from what Ive been told -
I said: Aklex and Graham said: And having had a bit of a look it seems a 981 Cayman S is 1.2s slower than a GTR round Laguna Seca, the same at Tsukuba and about 2 seconds slower at Sachsenring. Hardly disappearing in the RVM is it?

Ive just PM'd Sam to tell him of the 4 guys that I know who have owned Vantages none of them liked it, one of them said it was the worst car he had owned. Much better out there for the money IMO. -
Having driven both VERY fast on the same roads, trust me, the Cayman would leave the GTR on everything other than the very straightest bits and even then there wouldnt be a lot in it. The weight alone makes a huge difference. RS6 is an estate car, how does that work as a weekender?
-
In that case a GTR is faaaaaaaaaar too sensible, 16 year old Nissan FTW
-
If you really want a 16 year old modified Nissan then go for your life but it wont be long before its up on ramps with oil dropping out of it .......... see also TVR, RX-7, 996T and anything "classic" ......... I might be wrong but I took the Q as "You are just about to buy an R35 as a daily/road car, what other cars would you consider for this purpose?" rather than "What would you buy with £35K?", they are two rather different questions. Would you really have a DAX or a Mk1 Capri instead of a GTR to commute to work and back in?
-
996 Turbo is a bit fragile these days, it would be off the road getting fixed half the time A 2014 model Cayman S would be my choice, its nearly as quick as a GTR in a straight line but is so much better to drive due to considerably lower weight. Ill be test driving an M2 in the near future too but dont imagine it will handle as well as the Porsche
-
Ive been watching the Spyder prices recently too, thats a no brainer investment, but any limited number Porsche is.

Can someone explain to me why youd have insurance but not report a non fault incident?

Much as I agree with the man like Ekona on most things, I dont think having quality tyres of different makes on front and rear axles is as much of a problem, if youre used to a bit of sideways then youll be fine Id add that there are two types of Potenza fitted to Z33/Z34, the RE040 which is crap and the RE050A which is very good, second only to MPSS IMO

So a 420hp car is apparently gay, as is Maserati for putting diesels in their cars. I suppose this video just supports that too .......... Maybe it could be that BBK is so wide of the mark its unreal?
-
Youve had one have you? My old Zed used to run about 3 inches clearance at the front and I used it as a daily, my 328i was about 2.5 to the chassis rails. Some Zeds on coilovers for your perusal:

The DCT on the M4 is as "drivers choice" and involving as a manual IMO, great gearbox. -
Horses for courses, Id prefer to buy one specced as it works out a lot cheaper but I know what Id be after in said specced vehicle An S15 with Nistune, 740cc injectors and a GT2871R will be knocking on 400hp, stick £1000 coilovers and a few arms on it and youre well away, a 2 way diff would also be on my wishlist but thats just me. Brakes are OK but could do with upgrade for track efforts and Aero always looks lovely on them but the genuine article costs money, Id probably just leave it as is and make sure I keep it clean

Not as good. The tech isnt up there with the Z33, although the lower weight goes a long way to countering this they dont generate the grip or confidence you get in the bigger car, at least not without spending cash. They are snappier and less direct whether youre gripping or drifting IMO. Weirdly I was going to add the FD to the bottom as an alternative, the money is a bit more for a good un but I think they will undoubtedly hold value better, modding isnt so cheap though

Sorry, been a bit busy. For those that dont know Im the Chairman of SXOC, and Ive owned various S chassis, only driven S15 though. The popularity is due to IMO to 4 things: RWD, LSD and reasonable quick as standard, easily tuneable and relatively light. If you can think of another car that does all of that Ill be impressed. The turbo kick and weight makes them more exciting than Z33 to drive and they are actually pretty practical - big boots and can be 4 seaters if youve only got little legs The Zed is a generation later though, the chassis on an S15 dates back to the S13 (1988), the SR20 despite being a quality engine was being used from 1990 and the interiors can feel a bit sparse and dated, they can be a bit rusty as well, even S15. I came very close to buying an S15 instead of my Zed but didnt because I was worried Id get carried away and have another 400hp driftcar within 2 weeks rather than a daily and Im probably glad I did, but if youre looking for something to modify, track or drift Id have a serious look at them. Prices are a source of comedy for many long term S chassis owners - I bought a mint S13 in 2010 for under a grand and you could pick S14's up for roughly the same until about 2 years ago. Since then drifting seems to have got a lot bigger, numbers are falling so values are going up - if I was in the market Id be looking directly at S15 as they are that much newer and nicer (although I still harbour deep love for S13) The S14 Tarmac posted is horribly overpriced for what it is and thats the biggest problem with these badgirls, there is huge variety in conditions, modifications and miles so people just take a chance. For comparison this one is about (w)as good as S14's get: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?582659-Track-Focused-S14a-430bhp-White-Huge-Spec and this Id buy in a second if I had the space: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?579848-435hp-Damson-s14a-Super-clean-and-brand-new-SR22-big-spec, I know the car and the owner well Feel free to ask anything youd like to know, theres not many people who know them better than I do, Ive written off 5 (6 if you include the S12) to start with
