  1. To think, you know all that info about wheel testing but dont know to speak to the importer/sales agent rather than the manufacturer RT Performance and Driftworks are both JR official importers and both traders on this forum as well, you need to be talking to them. As for failures, I dont think its something to worry about, its very rare that a wheel fails and its usually only after a huge impact, be it a Rota or a BBS. Rotas are also pretty light and you can replace them one by one, difficult to look past these days Id say
  2. Aye, fair play to them but did we really need 25 minutes of coverage in every half hour on the news this morning? I swear, if I see Lineker pop that bottle of bubbly again Ill throttle him. Fun fact: Apparently what Man United spent in the transfer window last season would have bought every player i the 132 year history of Leicester. Fair ****in play lads, particualrly pleased to see Ranieri do so well after he got shafted at Chelsea
  3. Controversial TBH Ive never had a decent run in a blobeye but I found the Evo a proper involving car, had a sweat on many a time while driving it. Are they that good?
  4. Mate, Im not trying to be pedantic, Im concerned there is something wrong with your car if its handling like a 5 Series BMW. Which is?
  5. OK, if you say so. E39's are good for what they are but they arent 2 seat purpose built coupes at the end of the day. And best saloon chassis ever? It doesnt even have an LSD, and IMO not as good as an E90 M3 or even the E82 that I rock about in these days. Each to their own but if an E39 handles as well as a 350Z Ill take the rear seats and change thanks BTW, according to Dallara the best roadcar chassis ever is found on the Rolls Royce Phantom, its 7 times as stiff as a Ferrari Enzo apparently.
  6. You need to get something checked on your Zed my friend, no way an E39 bimmer should handle better, even an M5 ..........
  7. Moar lows required. The guy you bought the rims from would agree too
  8. This thing drove to where its parked: So the short answer is youre miles away from having any problems, you can pretty much tuck the front wheel under the arch before it will start catching on lock. Mine ran pretty low: but it got even lower on track: and still didnt ever rub Ive run driftcars even lower and although chassis rails and diffs would occasionally touch Ive never had a problem with wheels on front arches. Speedbumps wont make any difference unless your planning on hitting them at 40mph as well
  9. It ended up with a mate in Spain and is still terrifying him on regular basis We were chatting the other day, it was only an 8v running a bit more boost, Konis and a few other bits but it felt quick and handled like nobodies business, it was almost like it was daring you to push harder and harder. Regularly got out of it with large sweat patches but no chance of ever having one again, prices have gone mental and are even higher on the continent
  10. Best Ive owned is my 135i, it just does everything from decent economy to making great noises, before that Integrale as it was such an insanely involving drive. Best Ive driven is probably a 981 Cayman S - far from the most expensive but so communicative and balanced
  11. Errrr, here: Cayman and m3 aren't fair comparisons. They're very different. The Z is a mini muscle car. Feel very heavy compared to Cayman/boxster. Maybe I read that wrong but when you go on to say "the only thing that puts me off is the interior" that would suggest the weight isnt an issue for you. Errr, you didnt, Chrislich did: i found the german cars well built but just bland and boring. Its in exactly the same class as a Cayman but doesnt have very much to do with aforementioned Senator which is an ancient saloon car with a big V8. An M3 is very different prospect, admittedly, but its also one of the main alternatives people consider. Apart from the Cayman's with the M97 engine, where they redeveloped the IMS so it became much, much more reliable. They also hold their money better. As for the rest of it, I cant be arsed to keep quoting but an E46 M3 is less than 370Z money and youve said its better yourself, the thread title gives a bit of a clue to what he was looking for (he says alternatives, not "alternatives that are similar to a 370Z") and they probably put the 370Z in tests with other cars that were around the same money, the fact its not as "quick or agile" is hardly the testers fault. Thanks for the insults but I stand by what I say. When I was looking at a 350Z I considered a Boxster or an M3 , when I was looking at a 370Z I considered an E92 M3, very nearly bought a Cayman and ended up with a 135i and Ive known a good few people do exactly the same.
  12. No comparison to the DS2500, Carbo's are far better. Ive got XP10's on the front of my 135i and Ive been impressed, only bad part was that I managed to set fire to the passenger side cailper while bedding in so its a bit noisy when giving full brake death. Prefer them to RS29 but would probably still take Carbon Lorraine RC05+ given the choice
  13. I was proper torn up by this, for those that dont know FF to 3:15 on this: Genius
  14. Wow, have you had a child? I must have missed that despite you mentioning it in EVERY SINGLE BLOODY POST ......... Congrats, youre clearly made up over it but we've got the message now dude.
  15. They are both saloon cars, the only thing they share with a 370Z is being overweight. And explain to me how feeling heavy is a good thing, unless youre in a tank? Each to their own but a Holden is a Vauxhall Senator with a V8 engine, an M3 is somewhat more developed than that and it shows in the drive. And interior. And quality. And handling. etc. Anyone who describes M cars as "boring" clearly hasnt driven one, and E9* M3's are now similar money to a 370, same as a Cayman is. Oh, and the BMW and the Cayman will not depreciate as quickly so in effect you could spend more to start with anyway. Maybe Im some kind of weirdo but when I was last looking for a car I drove everything I listed as they were all roughly in the same ballpark pricewise, and like Ekona, I think there are better cars out there for the money. If youre looking at the very bottom end £12K cars then maybe not so much but from £16K upwards theres a load of stuff thats just ...... better.
  16. I actually bought a 135i and nearly bought a Cayman, but youve got M3/M5 as well, older 911's, Focus RS, S15 Silvia, RS* Audis, C63 Merc, Lexus IS-F, Jag XK-R ......... all properly good cars in their own right
  17. About half the proper cabs in Amsterdam are Teslas these days, I was gutted that I finished up with a Merc

Repairs and use of S/H parts are a lot cheaper than OE replacements. I had an S14 200SX written off for a fairly minor dent in the front bumper as the replacement part would have been £3500 or something similarly ridiculous. If Id been inclined to do it Id have probably been able to get a secondhand bumper, in the right colour for about £120 .......... I also had my 350Z written off for fairly extensive panel damage after a trip through a hedge, just the front end was uneconomical to repair with OE parts. The new bodykit, custom archwork, wheels, tyres, replacement panels and lights all fitted and whole car resprayed (well, not the lights) were about the same as the payout that I got from the insurers:
  20. I bought a pair of Barkers shoes from Jermyn Street last week and didnt even look at the price tag. They are lovely though

    Audi R8

    Mmmmkay .............
  22. Yep, they are good but RS29/CL RC5/Carbotech/Performance Friction are a class above IMO. I noticed a big difference going from Mu's to the CL's
  23. OK, so their customer service is "shocking" and youre happy to tell the world .......... except it was only one guy and he has now left the company. Bit harsh dont you think?
