  1. I suppose you could in a way. Techno, like House, like Drumb and Bass are the roots of their genre, they have all expanded over the years. Showing my age properly here but Drum and Bass was originally called "Jungle Techno", it only became D+B in the mid 90's. Real roots are Peril, Goa Trance, Chicago House and Detroit Techno, pretty much all EDM came from one of these badboys
  2. I do a lot of business in Europe, and was given an example the other day of what might happen if we left the EU. At the moment we can use reverse charge VAT, basically where we tell HMRC who we have done business with and where and then dont have to charge and claim VAT in 20 different countries. The information is shared between EU members and it all happens automatically like magic. If we were to drop out of this agreement, the administrative burden of claiming on our side and validation on the country in questions side would be huge, its likely we would have to pay an extra fee and suffer much longer return times. In itself that would probably be enough to kill my company off, along with a lot of others and this is without any of the other free trade arrangeemnts that would go out of the window - if we arent paying into the EU we cant expect them to carry out administration for free. Its not just the big obvious things like free movement of people, its all the other stuff that you dont even see unless youre importing/exporting that will bump the cost of running a business up, very few business can accept even a 5% increase in costs without serious problems.
  3. Daily Mail reader right here: Where to start? France and Spain have scary tax offices and laws that make HMRC look like pussycats, Turkey isnt in the EU and Greece's main problem was that they totally misrepresented their economy in order to join. Tax evasion there is rife, but when the GDP is 30% of what its supposed to be then youre on a hiding to nothing anyway. A "leader with balls" still cant go against EU, or even UK legislation and just force new laws through, Id say a leader with balls would be one that had had a referendum for Scottish Independence, and then another on whether we stay in the EU, maybe he would negotiate so that the UK (and in some cases, only the UK) doesnt have to subscribe to the EU directives that arent beneficial for his country too. Take control of our borders? What do you suggest, blow up the Chunnel and fire missiles at all cross channel ferries? The UK has far and away the lowest illegal immigration of anywhere in Europe, and as has been stated many times EU (i.e. legal) immigration results in a net benefit for our economy too. As Ekona has pointed out, if you spent even 30 seconds actually researching this bullshit propaganda youll find that once again, our economy benefits substantially from the "aid" that we give to foreign countries. Sorry to single you out but this is what terrifies me about this vote, that people will just pay attention to the big writing on the front of tabloid comic books and then form political opinion over it. Take 10 minutes and actually look into what youre saying, if you still believe its correct then more power to you .......... but I doubt you will.
  4. YES! TECHNO VIKING UBER ALLES!
  5. Knightracer used to do a +15mm overfender ....
  6. Please tell me you are going to space the wheels a bit more, particularly the rears, 15mm more lows will work wonders as well IMO. Dont want to sound harsh but there no point having massive arches if you arent going to fill them
  7. Maltesers, easy. Flip top head?
  8. Loving your work here Stew, superb car and Id imagine you wont lose much, if anything if you keep the miles relatively low. Interestingly enough my "benchmarking" was done against a 997 turbot which proved very slightly quicker than my car on one of the lower power maps, good feeling isnt it? BTW, have you sold the 123 yet? My brother is after one (and the wife but she can wait)
  9. Its something Ive discussed and thought long and hard about and TBH the only solution I can see is to leave them to it. Any intervention by the West will be turned into propaganda by Islamic Fundamentalists, any military action from remote locations will result in civilian casualties, any feet on ground will result in military casualties ........... and unlike WWII or The Falklands there isnt any real endgame, history has taught us its impossible to wipe out guerrilla groups and attacking terror or religious groups just increases their power amongst followers. You literally cant win, so why even bother?
  10. As Col has said, this is probably the best example of a "Who's the bad guy?" conflict ever. It started because a lot of the population were very strongly opposed to President Assad, claiming his government were undemocratic and unjust. They went on to form the Free Syria Army which initially the UK government supported, even suggesting that we would help them overthrow Assad due to his "chemical and biological weapons", despite him having support from Hezbollah, our enemy. Apparently. Around the same time ISIL declared support for the FSA, and we considered helping them out as well. Fast forward a couple of years and the UK is now in support of Assad, against the FSA and ISIL still consider Hezbollah to be a terror group, but are still condemning some of Assads actions so arent entirely on board. The US have declared war on ISIL, are very against Assad and Hezbollah and actively back the FSA. Russia are in support of anyone who will fight against ISIL (including the FSA) but also support Assad and Hezbollah. Thats before you bring Iran, the Kurds, Shia's and Sunnis, Al Nusra, Turkey, Saudi or Qatar into it. So who are the terrorists? ****ed if I know

    Oh lord

The absolute danglies, as good as Nissans get IMO.
  12. The 90's called, they want their witness list back Car looks good though man
  13. Sounds like they saw him coming! Nope, because he had the sports pack so Skyhook suspension and ceramic brakes, I think even the tyres are a weird size so cost an arm and a leg too. He didnt realise it has all the fancy stuff and certainly didnt realise what it would cost to replace .........
  14. Cheap to buy, ZOMG Mary Mother of Jesus to run. Mate of mine has one specced to the 9's (it was the press car when they were released and he has a DVD of VBH driving) but new brake pads, discs and a couple of shocks to get through the MoT has justs et him back £9K - hes only done 5K miles in the car since he bought it
  15. Ive got to say that I test drove a Nismo 370Z for well over an hour and agree with nearly everything Ekona says about the 370, maybe hes just psychic? I drove a 987 and a 981 Cayman, 135i, M235i, M435i, my own 350Z, 1M and a 997 C2S in the same week or the week before and all of them were better "drivers" cars IMO. And the reason I moved on from my Zed? Too heavy, not great for track (as standard at least) or driving hard, exactly what the OP is after. Fair play, I know everyone loves their own car and wants to defend it to the death, but everyone is entitled to an opinion and unless the club are going to censor negative comments about Z chassis cars the 370 owners are going to have to accept that some people think there are better cars out there for the money.
  16. Yep, done a few trackdays now with my 350Z and the missus Mk3 MR2 and always fidn myself trying to nick the keys for the little one, more involving, more demanding, more fun

    BMW E89

Ive driven the ZF 8 speed in M135i and M235i and while its not quite as quick as DCT its still pretty impressive, I probably would have specced the M235i with one if Id have bitten the bullet (no DCT option). Round town it just feels like one long gear and I think gives crazy mpg, out of twon its fast and direct enough not to be annoying. However, given the choice Id take DCT every day though, its a manual and its faster, what else do you want? Which comes on which cars Im not sure but the DCT is the better box
  18. Anyone noticed how some people just read memes on Facebook and then recycle without checking if its accurate? The BBC, as we all know is the mouthpiece of the Tories and: 14 hours ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-eu-36205211 15 hours ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36208781 Yesterday: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36202490 Day before: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36188558 4 days ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36178582 4 days ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36182511 And anyway, why use UK based news services these days? Russia Today, Al Jazeera and France24 are all much more even handed.

    Audi S5

Cant speak for the S5 but Audis generally handle like ass. £43K would buy a new Cayman as well I guess the M435i is the closest rival, Ive driven one of them but TBH didnt find it overly inspiring, if you can live with the smaller car the M235i is excellent. If not, the XF S is also a pretty amazing car and I bet not much slower than the S5 either
  20. If "they" are the EU then they dont have any power to change it, its a US drafted agreement. If "they" are the USA Obama has already made it clear that we wouldnt get special treatment as regards writing trade policies, never mind revising the TTIP

    BMW E89

See, same here, I never really saw the attraction of them but Ive known 4 car guys that all had one and really liked them, 2 went onto buy Z4's and are really liking them too. @Ekona - iDrive is brilliant, gives you something to play with in traffic jams an'everythin

    BMW E89

Dont listen to Ekona, he'd probably go back to steam drive given the choice Everyone I know who has bought a Z4 has been well happy with it, more so than Z3's (which owners really liked as well). As someone else said, the 8 speed is a damn fine box and the 3.5i (N54) can do 700nm without much sweat, the 3.5is (N55) version is still good for 400hp+ easily. If youre going to use it on track the e-diff will drive you up the wall but I have a feeling both 35 models will hold value very well in years to come
  23. We would probably still have to sign up to TTIP if we left the EU anyway. Bad thing, but not really relevant.
  24. Id have agreed about 10 years ago but the game has moved on - I had a DSG Golf GTI for a mega German trip last year (2800km in a week) and it was great fun, comfy and good looking. I drove it hard, hitting the speed limiter every day and still returned 36mpg, even my stupid 1 series can do over 30mpg if driven gently. Its like the diesel thing, 15 years ago youd only buy one if you were doing starship mileage but theyve come on so far that its the default choice for most people now.
  25. Scirrocco R? Who is paying for the fuel/company car tax? Ive had Merc A, C and E recently as hire cars and found them quite pretty, very comfy inside but a bit uninspiring to drive, the sort of car you'd expect a retired teacher to drive. Ive only tried fast 2's but have had some normal 1's and 3's and they are more involving than the Mercs are and not much worse inside so would probably lean that way, Id be having a serious look at the TT though for sure. Can you afford a Jag?
