  1. Most of it is confidence borne of experience, your average drifter can jump into anything RWD and make it work because he knows he can do it. A day spent at driftschool and a guarantee youll be able to do stuff you only dreamed of before, the Zed is very good for it as they are quite predictable and communicative. That said, the Nordschleife is not the place to practice, although once your good enough it makes wet days a lot more fun
  2. I always give cash anyway (universal vouchers I call it) and having banged out for a wedding a couple of years after living together for 9 years there isnt anything else we would want anyway. As Ekona says, "holiday vouchers" might be a bit more acceptable but I wouldnt give a toss. What we really need is the Austrian approach, where you lay on the day for your guests and they then pay between EUR 100-150 per person towards it, why cant we do that?
  3. I rarely got more than 22, the best I ever, ever managed was about 28
  4. We went to Bergerac in France, SERIOUSLY consider somewhere overseas for these reasons: 1) Cost - it sounds stupid but France is so much cheaper for this kind of thing. The 7 course (french, cooked by french chefs) meal was EUR 50 per head and wine came in at under EUR 3 per bottle, we had some friends get married at the same time and they were paying £22 per bottle for wine - thats 4K on wine alone, I dont even want to think what the food would have cost. We hired 2 big chateaux and all of the accommodation in the village, people averaged EUR 300 per couple for a week ........... Ive paid more than that for a night at a UK wedding 2) Weather - its never guaranteed but Southern France is a hell of a lot more likely to be sunny .......... 3) Hangers on - youd be amazed how many people looking for a free lunch drop out when they realise its going to cost them a couple of hundred quid to get there, these are invariably the same people you dont want to be paying for. 4) Wedding tax - it doesnt exist in France. Flowers, food, drink, venue rental, horse and carriage, band ............ whatever you want it costs the same as it would for a 50th birthday. 5) Duration - one of the things Ive noticed about weddings Ive been too recently is how quickly they are over, even as a guest. We did ours over a full week, the fact it was in France meant people treated it like more of a holiday and everyone had a blinding time - at least two weddings were replanned following ours as it was such a success Honeymoons can wait, spend the money on the wedding and if you can stretch it to a few days or more you wont regret it.
  5. Black BMW? 1 Series by any chance? Naah, wasnt me but if youre getting "tailgated" then best bet is just to let the guy past, he might have been on the way to see his baby delivered or something.
  6. Your definition of aggressive is obviously different from mine
  7. I was a massive fan and have just finished watching the reruns (Gold or Challenge, cant remember which) - it would be mental to see what people can come up with these days with additional technology. Razer was immense but was also immensely expensive, the best robot IMO was Typhoon 2 as it just minced everything it touched. And presenters? Craig Charles is a penis but the girls were tidy, good work.
  8. Funnily enough the guy that mapped it also did my drift car. TG requested extra flamage for the show as well
  9. Am I the only person who finds this actually ridiculous? For a start youd have to replace all front facing ANPR cameras (carparks and petrol stations usually use the front plate for a start), the police would only have 50% as much chance of identifying a car they were after, youd have no way of identifying the person driving towards you (be that just to wave at a mate or to be a witness to an incident) and you wouldnt actually be able to identify your own car from the front either, not a problem if you drive a Nismo 370 but might be more of an issue for a grey Ford Focus owner. If you want your car to look better then wash it more often .........
  10. Im actually getting angry with this now, so many people with so little idea what they are talking about are going to shape the future of the UK. They really, really should have kept this as a Houses of Parliament vote I think, its too complex. The number of people using the future of our country as some kind of popularity contest between Cameron and Boris is ****ing scary, frankly. You do know that you vote for MEP's, right? You also know that the vast majority of law that actually affects you has nothing to do with the EU, and its generally accepted that the laws they have imposed (mainly human rights and business law) are positive, and that without EU protrection the Tories would be bumming anyone on less than 50K a year? We already have trade deals with a lot of countries though and would be walking away from those if we left, also bear in mind we are a net importer so dont have a lot to negotiate with. I dont know if youve checked the import/export tariffs imposed by the WTO but we wouldnt be able to compete on them - Ive read that some of the EU contribution we save could be given to exporters to compensate but I wont be holding my breath .......... besides, robbing Peter to pay Paul is hardly good economic sense. And who did you vote for in the last House of Lords elections? You know, the guys that have power of veto over every single law passed through the elected house? Trade deals, fair enough but that hasnt stopped us becoming the 5th largest economy globally with 12 consecutive quarters of growth, low unemployment and increasing GDP. Im pretty happy with that. At least one "in voter" has got this then - immigration wont really be affected if we leave. All that will happen is our economy will become considerably more unstable and while Id be the first to admit that 10 years after Brexit we might be better off, we certainly wont be in the first 5.
  11. We have been going every year since 2005. Without fail, we go to Arnage (not the village, the track) for night-time viewing. Get there for about 10pm when its dust going into night. You get close to the cars, this close.... I can beat that.... LOL, nearly exactly where we ended up this year. At one point we were wandering around the marshalls camping before we realised where we were Dude, you should have come and said hello - I spent some QT with the Manbulance last year but didnt get round to it this year
  12. £1200 a year .......... is it worth it if the car isnt appreciating in value?
  13. Is this sex scene worth seeking out? Other than that, meh - a mate of mine is a cameraman and even he says its interminable.
  14. 15k for an engine build? Are you including FI in that? Forging, FI kit, management, clutch, building, fitting and mapping. No doubt someone will tell me it can be done for less but Im looking at new, high quality parts and a reputable engine builder, I dont think youd see much back out of £15K.
  15. Why not? 4WD mainly, not to mention very clever computer controlled 4WD. Ive also seen a GTR for £30K ......... lets say £7K on a base car, £15K on a 500+hp engine build, clutch and management, £4K on a big brake kit, £1500 on wheels and tyres and youve only got £2.5K left for everything else including suspension, fuelling and interior.
  16. It will cost you more to make a 350Z faster than a GTR than it would to buy a GTR. If you want something that will chase down a GTR in a straight line then spend £12K on a 500hp Supra, a 500hp Skyline or remap an N54 BMW ......... but you will still get dicked on the corners. Ive been past GTRs and E92 M3's on track in a relatively standard 350Z but that doesnt mean its the faster car
  17. There was still plenty of shoutiness though, and the SIARPC was longer than the last few that have been slagged hard. The difference was quite simply content - anything at Laguna Seca will be worth watching, Kevin Hart is a genuinely funny guy with some nice cars, the FRS/A45/CTR was a test of interesting, affordable cars that people wanted to see (loved the kid as well), Ferraris are always interesting but add Harris's drifty skills, passion and a 250TdF and you cant fail. And that Ken Block segment? How do you top that? Camerawork was spot on, scripts were great and the love that Harris, Evans and Reid clearly have for cars knocks the old lot into a cocked hat IMO. Carry on like this ans they will **** anything that came before them IMO.
  18. 235 is more economical than you think, and agree on M Sport suspension, if you drive anything like enthusiastically its got to be done. The 2's do seem to look better in white as well ..........
  19. If you dont need the space Id go for the 2, they handle better and go better due to less weight. The 4 is better looking though .......... tricky one.
  20. S2K is great as a race car and not much cop for anything else, certainly not better than a 350 as a day to day car, as Ive said pretty much anything "better" would almost certainly be older. Golf Gti's have a good rep for a reason, if not its difficult to look past the 330d. Sounds to me that youd be just as well served spending £3K on something "normal" and keeping the rest back for when something else tickles your fancy
  21. Really? Any particularly reason, I drove one (admittedly a while back) and thought it was pretty hateful, very lacking in torque. I guess youre looking for soemthing newer than a Zed .......... and I really cant think of much thats in the same ballpark, the Zed is about the best car you can buy for £8K IMO
  22. Its amazing, Corvettes have to be up there as some of the best looking cars you can buy ATM. Pretty low profile though, white with red leather dont you think?
  23. The Zed is a good clean shape to start with, as someone else said, keeping it as OE looking as possible it always the best bet, will help you sell on as well. Ive long said a decent bumper, nice wheels that fit properly and some lows make the best looking cars And I dont want to start a fight, but while kitted cars will always get more attention ask Zed owners which widearch they prefer, my old one with Chargespeed or the Veilside look and I bet 8/10 go for the the less ostentatious look, hell I bet given the choice 8/10 would take a standard car over Failside. Of course youll get positive feedback, people are hardly likely to walk up to the car and tell you it looks gash (like they will on here in fact) Veilside and the other transformer style kits were great in the early 90's, but that was 20 years ago, but its your money and your taste, just be aware its unlikely to be a popular choice.
  24. Quite possible as well, they have to default pretty badly but if they do then we are laughing.
