Looks mental, drives mental and goes like stink, Ive been out in a few 400hp ones and they rather take ones breath away Seeing as I love pointing out where Aashenfox has missed the boat a bit, rally derived hatches also include the 160/185/205 GT4's, Audi Quattro, Glanza/Starlet, Mazda 323 GTX and GT-R, Golf Rallye, Escort Cosworth, even a Lotus Sunbeam at a push - if you can find them the T16's, RS1600 and 1700's, 306 Maxis and R5 Gordinis will make a bit of money in the next few years as well Id have thought. But the winner for me is always the 'grale, they are just a masterpiece to drive, so much character and just all round lovely but the prices have gone from "steep" to "comedy" in the last few years

  5. Anyone spending £80K on an R34 is buying it as an appreciating asset. This is up for £80K because it only has 38K miles - if it had 88K it wouldnt be worth as much. If you buy it and put 20K miles on it you wont realise the same appreciation as if it was still 38K, you might not even get any appreciation as other cars with 40, 50K will be more attractive. Jesus, just realised its not even a Nur, thats crazy money!
  6. Sold my 350Z as it was too heavy to ever be a great track car. Superb to learn the ropes on but once you get a bit tasty the weight just holds you back. Bought 400hp 1 Series and while its bastard fast its also not a track car, despite uprating all suspension, brakes and diff. Arguing with myself whether to fit coilovers and make it more track biased, but even then its probs going to be a bit heavy for proper bants. Have a GTI-6, which is light, great to drive ......... but FWD. Means that more often than not youre as fast as youre going to get by the afternoon session. So what am I taking to Snetterton on Monday? The missuses bone stock Mk3 MR2 Seriously, they are awesome fun, so responsive and communicative and a good driver can giant kill like no-ones business (but you have to be 110% on it). Elises are good, Exiges very good but they are a lot more money, the ZZW30 is so cheap I literally came with a day of buying one to keep as backup the other day
  7. Got offered an M135i for £200 incl VAT the other day, 1 of 10 and theny were gone within 24 hours ........... nearly picked it up as a spare. The 1/240i is getting some very good feedback too, if I ws in the market would be difficult to look past them.
  8. So, the choice is spend £80K on a GTR and drive and enjoy it, or spend £80K on a GTR and not be able to drive it as it will devalue with every mile. Difficult one. The M spec is ridiculous money, there are plenty more cars at £80K that would be a better investment, youd make more money on a V spec costing half as much anyway. Or a Hakosuka. Or a 240Z that cost a quarter of the money.
  9. Aye, telling Charlie to **** off isnt really on no matter how angry you are, good to see that they are penalising this moving under braking thing though for sure. Was getting a little fed up of "why didnt Lewis bet the same" - mainly as he wasnt blocking an overtake and was on the first corner of the first lap Id imagine, I dont think he gained much at all. Other than that another rather boring one for me, Ricciardo did well to come through the field but struggling to remember any "highlights". Ive also stopped watching qually entirely, proper snoozefest.

Youre worried for no reason mate There have been very, very few isolated incidents of wheel spacer failure ............. just like there have been very few Prius's lose their steering or Carrera GT's that spontaneously ignite. The ones I have seen have invariably been down to cheap aluminium spacers, loss of wheels is usually down to the use of cheap wheelnuts, or cheap wheels rather than the spacers as well. If its a concern Eibachs are TuV approved so will not fail, I really wouldnt worry yourself
  13. Who are these jokers? What do they do when someone rolls in with a 350Z, check the chassis number to check whether it had 17's, 18's or 19's as standard? Do they point blank refuse to MoT anything with aftermarket wheels on, as they dont know what the OE sizes were? Can someone tell me how does a smaller radius tyre reduce brake efficiency as well?

Phone a broker - a real life motor insurance broker and explain the situation to them, theres probably an anomaly in the quote system that needs a human pair of eyes to look at it and realise its bollocks. BIBA would be my first stop although I cant say Ive ever asked them anything like this before, yuo need a broker and not a comparison company

  17. Daily is either a 430hp/575 lb/ft BMW 135i coupe, a V8 P38 Range Rover, a mk3 MR2 or a 306 GTI-6 depending on how Im feeling that particular day. The Beemer tends to win for some reason, cant think why ...........
  18. Not unless youve got 55 lb/ft, arguably you dont want to be breaking traction either. The correct answer is the cheapest rims you can find that will fit on your car - sadly standard 200SX rims are a bit small at 16 inch, but standard anything else will do the job handsomely, there are usually some cheapo 17/18's for sale on www.driftworks.com/forum You could hire rims from the tyre guys but Id recommend getting some yourself, they are pretty handy to have around generally
  19. What? He had a bad start yesterday, but hes also had 5 engine or power unit failures and associated penalties for fixing them. On the rare occasions that Nico hasnt found himself at the front he has failed to work his way up the field like Lewis seems to be doing every race and Nico cant get close to him in the wet, he never has. "Luckier" Ill happily accept, but more complete driver? No way - Vettel, Verstappen, Ricciardo and even Alonso are all a class above, if they were in a Merc and Lewis had the bad luck he has then the championship would be over by now.

Funnily enough I found the exact opposite - I ran a Nismo 2 way in my S13 and found it was immensely more predictable than the welder and was a lot easier to control the car by throttle alone than with a 3 way, I had a 1.5 in my onevia and it was similar. Might just be a car thing but I never got on with a welded 200SX, particularly after the plate diffs, each to their own I suppose. Dont disagree with the second bit at all either, theres a it of a price difference ......
  22. Nope, 2.0 and the S2K wouldnt see where the Megane went. Ive had my arse handed to me by a Megane while simultaneously handing an S2K its arse, they are astonishing. 7.54 round the ring, the S2K is 8.39 ........ for reference Seat Leon Cupra, Civic Type R and Golf Gti Clubsport are all sub 8 minutes and 2.0 2WD.
  23. Best race for ages IMO, even some proper racing in there :o Note how Lewis dicked all over Vettel and was a second a lap faster than Max ........... until he got close to him? See my earlier comments about dirty air affecting downforce, if he had been able to run in turbulence he would have caught Nico as well. Still feel that if Nico wins the championship it will have been handed to him, rather than him having to work for it but I imagine he wont mind too much
  24. Ironically it's not, it's a sodding Enzo underneath! No it isnt, its somewhere between 300 and 400% stiffer in the chassis for a start. A man at Dallara told me that, he also told me that the stiffest chassis in production was the RR Phantom, by quite a long way. Anyway, back OT - as brillo said, why not a Z4? Its halfway between a Z33 and an SLK for me, not very hairdressery and the 3.5 goes like absolute buggery. M3's are superb but a fair step up from what youre talking about in running costs, at this point Im required by law to mention that the 135i is a much better car as well
