  1. No problem at all IMO, I must have done mine a couple of times. You sure the alt belt isnt slipping? Means it will charge sometimes and not others?
  2. If it cost £65K and appreciates by £2K over a year then youve made more than you would in the bank, given that they have probably increased about 80% in value over the last 10 years Id say thats a fair risk. If you dont drive it then it wont go wrong, if you do drive it then theres a risk ........ but its not like you could enjoy the money at all if it was stuck in the bank. Old Fezzas are very easily to clock apparently too, not that Id ever suggest it of course Its a punt, but Italian supercars, Limited Edition Porsches and RS Fords are pretty much guaranteed to increase in value these days, even if they dont its very unlikely they will decrease in any significant way.
  3. Should be straight swap, you could change the oil while its off the car but other than that you should be grand
  4. I drove mine for about 4 years like this, never locked up apart from on track and much easier than messing with the yaw box. If you need to turn it back on just stick the plugs back in again. Yep, because every car without TC just spins immediately when it rains. Ive recently punted the "TVR drivers must be superheroes" line out, but this time Ill just opt for reminding you that racing cars still run in the wet and they dont all spontaneously crash into each other. ABS - good for emergency braking, no doubt TC - only needed if you can modulate your right foot Stability control - as above + cant use a steering wheel correctly
  5. So someone I know actually paid £9K for that monstrosity? Cant wait to find out who
  6. Youve not been to Blyton then? Owner is a dick, circuit is good though, certainly better than Mallory IMO. If its an "experience" thing where they let you dirve the cars, Bovingdon and Bentwaters have massive runways so could be good for a speed fix. 3 Sisters is a Kart track, anything with "driving centre" is to be steered clear of and most of the others I know of as fairly slow drift venues rather than actual circuits ......... this would suggest they wont be allowing any 120mph antics ....... apart from Donington Heritage, thats wide and potentially extremely fast. Carver Barracks I actually had to google as I live about 5 minutes away and didnt know there was anything there, I think I can see why now: ........ do you really want to "experience" a lambo at 50mph in 2nd gear?
  7. Mods, can we move this to the MeisterR section? I reckon Ive used probably 15+ types of coilover on various cars and I never quite got over how good HSD's were for the money on the 350Z - Ive no doubt v3's would probably be as good but they cost a lot more in the first place. I cant believe you can pick a set up for £1250 ........
  8. You map the ECU, rather than the engine so as long as youre not using some kind of one off, bespoke race unit then you should be fine regardless of spec. If you already have a mapper in mind then its probably worth asking him what he would recommend or is most comfortable with, SYVECS is becoming very popular recently
  9. Why would that make any difference when they have already admitted fault? They can hardly say that nowhereboy crashed the car when it was in their possession Theres clear cut and then theres clear cut, the car has to be put back to the owners satisfaction at the cost of the garages insurance. No favours or anything to be done here, this is 100% business.
  10. Exactly what a mate has done. Sold a house, had a chunk of money kicking around so bought a 355 with the intention of selling it in a year or so. He already has a 996 turbo as well the bastard Im in exactly the same position ........ but dont have anywhere to keep another car, if only
  11. Great thread idea, try and keep it to pics I reckon too Still miss it from time to time, mainly when on track, I dont think I ever realised quite how good it was
  12. Some cars seem to get on with them, others break stuff, it seems to be luck of the draw a bit.
  13. Thought about trying to get into a private position? Less kids, less planning, more money, more holiday, more classroom support, my missus loves her job and it clearly has less of the tedium and paperwork crap that goes with a state role these days. And you should see the Christmas presents from parents ........ Shes also private tutoring at £30+ per hour which there seems to be more and more call for, youve only got to do 20 hours per week and youre not far off normal teacher money. Hell, if shes good there are jobs going at Tashas school, Im sure we coud put a word in .......
  14. Read the first post a couple of days ago and thought "Bollocks, xmas isnt a word" :lol; The best book Ive read on etymology of English is Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson, a lot of the irregularities in English arent actually there for any good reason, they are just there. Its amazing how much effect a few (wrong at the time) people have made
  15. Remapped 135/140 even more impressive, mine is 565 lb/ft, so 396 lb/ft per tonne. This is also why 2.0 diesels can burn off a GT86, a 2.0 VAG effort puts out 240 lb/ft from 1750rpm ...........
  16. But none of those cars have actually sold ............. theres an 04 in grey with 55K miles from a dealer on Autotrader for £4980, an 07 plate with 80K for £5K, a dealer 04 with 50K for £5K .......... Im not saying for a second that your car isnt worth a lot more, but the dealer has to be able to shift it AND make a bit into the bargain, hence the lowball offer.
  17. I imagine that is trade price for a 2004 350Z, how much did you think he would offer you? It would have to be a pretty special 04 for it to sell for much over 5K private, and the dealer would have to fix any faults and then warranty it too. Youre also comparing a modified Zed to a standard 86, thats probably why it felt quiet and floaty - new exhaust and suspension makes a lot of difference on any car. And a 205 GT4 with boost mods is a quick car, no doubt, Toyota used to make this thing called the Supra as well .........
  18. 20K buys lots of cars that are in with a good shout. 5 years ago, maybe not but times move on and new cars depreciate like a bastard.
  19. Big decisions like these are difficult but I find you know if it was the right choice within about an hour of making it, onward and upward
  20. No. Not in the slightest. NS2 are distinctly average but theres definitely worse out there, NS2R are pretty good track tyres.
  21. Unless your N54 had all of this replaced before you bought it And lets be honest, theres a bit more potential in an N54 than a VQ37 at the end of the day
  22. Do a massive burnout on the old ones then, get your moneys worth Im usually the dude that points out that different tyres front to back isnt actually going to kill you (it wnot, Ive done it), but particularly at this time of year even I wouldnt be running two different budgets on the rears - the Zed has a lug of low down torque that can catch out even the best of us, for the sake of a couple of hundred quid its not worth it. However, the people saying that turning ESP off will kill you? Learn to drive boys, I never turned ESP on it 6 years of ownership and didnt have it at all in a considerably more powerful series of 200SX's, how those boys with TVRs dont end up in every hedge/bus stop is impressive too. Sure, if youre not confident then keep it firmly in the on position but its hardly a self destruct button .........
  23. Its a great site actually, kills all of these fitment threads stone dead. Assuming the posters are being accurate about what they have done to the car of course ........
  24. If youre rebuilding an engine anyway then uprated parts are a no brainer, they are often cheaper than OE as well. If youre going turbo then IMO its pointless without uprated internals as well, all that time and money to only see 40% of what the turbo could achieve? No thanks.
  25. Thats a lot of words when you could have just said www.rimtuck.com
