Step Children and relationship break ups....
docwra replied to nowhereboy's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Dude, shes left you three times in 12 months, who gives a toss what she does and doesnt like? From what Ive seen youve been doing everything you can to make things work, youve only got one person to blame when they dont. I was lucky that I had this when I was much younger, I as an absolute sap over it and got played by the girl in question. All I got from it was a sadface for 6 months and a relatively large portion of my late teens when I should have been sticking it in anything with a pulse rather than sitting at home crying to myself on a Friday night. The feeling when you finally realise youve moved on and are your own man again is awesome, if you can also accompany that with a sweet girl then youll wonder what you were wasting your time on -
Personally I think there are better cars for the money they are at ......... but its the usual stuff, hoods, alignment (car, not just wheels), oil use. engines do go bang but not very often, never heard of gearbox problems but we shifted my brothers on after it started making a noise from the clutch. If youre serious I may have a mate selling a beauty of an example, he has just bought a Cayman

Step Children and relationship break ups....

Dude, its your limited time on this mortal coil you are wasting here, if you keep going back youll never actually accept its over and always be waiting for "another chance". 3 times in 12 months is more than enough pissing about to handle, life is too short IMO - move on and find someone that genuinely makes you happy. Its hard on the boy but like I said, its your life that needs to come first, not his or hers. Apologies if this is harsh but Ive just see a couple of friends suddenly become single at close to 40, one in particular has realised hes been wasting the last 5 years trying to make something broken work again. Life is too short. -
My 21 year old, 180K miles GTI-6 dynoed exactly standard power and 2 lb/ft more than standard torque. If its a healthy engine no reason why it shouldt still do the same as it did when it was a young un

350Z calipers are pretty damn good as standard, discs dont make a huge amount of difference unless they are mega cheap and there are a lot better pads out there than Yellowstuff. My old 350 with Carbon Lorraine pads, HEL fluid and braided lines, standard discs and calipers stopped as well as anything Ive driven.

370Z Nismo - Thinking about it but what do I need to know?
docwra replied to AndySpak's topic in 370z General
Ive seen this with a few dealers recently, they are only allowed to go down "approved" test drive routes which quite often are full of traffic and give no opportunity to actually drive the car. The Alfa salesman I went out with the other day couldnt be more apologetic but it is a bit ridiculous asking people to drop 10's of thousands on a 15 minute drive where you didnt get out of 3rd gear. They did say that they would probably be able to sort something a bit more involving but I get the impression that a deposit might be needed first Funnily enough my experience with Nissan couldnt be more different, I very nearly got a perfect darts score testing the GTR and had the back of the 370 sliding all over the place, quick complaint letter to Nissan UK and try another garage for sure -
No way man, I wouldnt pay more than £5K for any DE engined car. I came incredibly close to picking this one up just for the lols: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-cars-sale/253118-350z-2006-facelift-296bhp-3500-a.html

I wouldnt be too put off by the Cat D, particularly if he can show photos of damage and repairs, but its also not far off what youd be looking at for an undamaged 04 plate. Also a bit suss how "slight bumper" damage can write off what he obviously thinks is a 6K motor, theres not a lot of information there either ........

All this "VQ's fail a lot" I think is relative - RB's, SR's and LS fail more on track, even JZ's die. Anyway, if you can Id stay NA for better throttle response, the UZ is a good engine but IMO needs FI to see the figures to justify an engine swap, specially if youre already at arond 300hp. Will probably take some fab work but have you considered an M62, or even better an S65? M62's can be picked up for next to nothing and show better figures than a UZ, theres an adaptor plate available for the gearbox too ....... SBC is a lot cheaper than LS too, you can get engine for £500 easily. If you could find a VQ37 that could be interesting

Been For a Test Drive - GT86 & 370z & Scirocco R(ejection)
docwra replied to Stutopia's topic in Other Cars
I had a drive of an Alfa QF last week and would have gone out in an M2 as well but was too honest with the salesman (I said I wouldnt buy it for at least 6 weeks), the M2 I called 1/2 hour before I arrived ......... Not allowing you to drive a Scirocco R is hilarious, Id be complaining to someone myself -
Id be tempted to buy genuine, the extra cost can be offset with the time making something less accurate fit properly. Genuine Chargespeed all round is £1500 ..........
-
Its a Chargespeed type 2 IIRC but has obviously been customised so it meets up with the arches. The dude that made it is on Streetoptions@live.com if you want to try and get in touch with him

Can you get an XC90 for that money?

Cards on the table, I actually genuinely like a bit of Taylor Swift, they are awesomely catchy pop songs and Ive never had a problem with that. Biebers latest work has also been pretty good, the biggest issue Ive got with both is that they get overplayed but up to that point, fair play. However ............ what's Drake all about? My initial thought is its just me getting old but I still like the above, Im loving Tom Zanettis latest tune and Ill even go a bit of the more commercial side of grime from time to time. Ive also asked some younger mates (17/18) and they dont really seem to know what its all about either. Its not a dance music thing - I was on the Happy Hardcore and Jungle scene bigtime and its not variety, I still listen metal and indie and if I dont play some Hip hop at some point its been a weird week. Hell, I even listen to French rap music or dub from time to time, but Drake - no idea what the attraction is. At all.

Yay, 1 Series world domination continues How late is "late model"? They had a factory recall for the timing chains and earlier N47's also have swirl flap issues, if they havent been done it might be worth considering

?How do you compare Muse with AC/DC ? Ive seen both, Muse are a lot more artistic with their light show and their music TBF, more of a performance or a display type of feel. At one time they the best concert Id been to, Ive seen them twice since and would still happily go see them again. AC/DC just fcuking smashed it, they were awesome, massive energy and emotion and that was just the crowd Only bands Ive seen that Id rate higher are the Stones and Fleetwood Mac, thats pretty high praise.
-
Homologation perhaps? Looks like they have been selling them since 2012 anyway. From what I could find they have Ohlins DFV, are 175 KG lighter which isnt too bad with a fuel cell and a cage included, lots of bespoke parts made by Nismo ......... and need an engine rebuild every 5K km I dont thnk its an attempt to rip people off, its the same as an M3 GTR, or a GT3 RSR, they are race cars for actual racing. And Ive just found something that says its built to GT4 specs, a Cayman GT4 racecar is £100K, an M3 GT4 is about the same.
-
Just to weigh in on old Swifty and Bieber, you know they both write as well as perform? And anyone who can create images and followings like they have has to be admired, even if youre not into the music - FWIW as pop music I think its difficult to argue with either of their outputs.

This. If youre hitting in a standard car something is VERY wrong.
-
Cheapest 981 is £33K too. cheapest 3.4 is £35K.
-
Yarp. I have a feeling that 130's are going to hold their money over the next few years too, they are a pretty underappreciated car.
-
Touche And why not knowing the name of a 1930s physicist who has been dead for nearly 50 years makes you a terrible human being Im not entirely sure. Id be more interested in the uber rich and their lifestyle than the famous, it would be fascinating to see how Zuckerberg, Sheikh Mohammed or the Queen actually live, what do you do with yourself when you have more than you could ever spend?

Exhaust, air filter and remap wont see a Focus RS in the 11's, see about 3 posts up and the Golf R I found that did an 11.99 was running drag tyres with intake and intercooler upgrade. The next quickest (11.89) had a turbo upgrade as well.
-
Aye, respray, the wheels are brand new and so is the BGW

I know you werent mate, and I know that 400hp is easily in reach with a bit of mapping .......... but I also know that getting into 11's is a pretty serious task and not just "a few mods"
