  2. R8 isnt really that expensive maintenance for a supercar though, I reckon a Cayman would be about the same. Unfortunately when you start messing about in Porsches and M cars its generally going to cost more, but short of engine failures its usually worth it - I d definitely get yourself in a manual V8 before you dont have the chance anymore.
  3. Not in my experience. PS4/PS4S are awesome fast road/occasional track tyres but like PS4s they do get a bit melty after a lap or two pushing or a really hot circuit. Off the track IMO they are the best compromise but ............ ...... NS2R seem to handle heat better while being pretty decent in the wet and Ive got A052s on the BMW as (hopefully) the best all round track tyre for Spa and Zandvoort in November, but then again they are bastard expensive and only have 7mm tread to begin with 🤪
  4. My Z28 was a replacement for an F355 - I certainly considered a 981 GTS/GT4 but thought Id end up driving it to work every day where the Ferrari was very much a special occasions type of thing. On paper it ticked the boxes but turned up to see it and wasnt really blown away - its very big, looks heavy and the guy selling took it very easy on the test drive (weird as he'd won a sprint class in the car last season), definitely not Ferrari replacement material. Got in to drive myself and decided I was buying it within about 250 yards - chassis, engine, brakes, noises are all incredible, it just gets better the more you use it. The fact it cost half what the Fez did for a car with less than 10K miles was the clincher, I cant see myself selling it now
  5. The car was made specifically by Chevy to go round the 'Ring as quickly as possible, it laps faster than an LFA, Ford GT or LP640. And they didnt set their times in the wet, trust me when I say it goes round corners This one has 150hp over the car that did the 7.37 as well Despite the power the reason I bought it was the chassis, its absolutely sublime and genuinely as good as *anything* Ive driven. The only other street car fitted with spool dampers is the Aston one 77 and ceramic brakes are a £10K option on a GT3 .......... we dont talk about fuel though Oh, and its very unlikely to depreciate, this is 1 of 51 produced with no aircon. If it was me with the 40K Id still be looking for a 981 (arguably best street car Ive driven, also unlikely to depreciate) but dont rule out the leftfield options without trying them first, for example you could get a nice TVR, F-Type, Exige for £40K .......
  6. Each to their own but thats got a 7.0 V8 with 650hp, 10K miles, spool valve suspension, full ceramic brakes - the standard car lapped the Nurburgring in 7.37 in the wet. I like a 370, dont get me wrong but ...... really?!
  7. Up to you, Id use it from time to time to keep it in working order but dont think its essential by any means. Used to drift my 350 and never thought it needed an oil cooler, the training cars used in UK dont have them either
  8. 981 and 718's dont (in fact late 987's dont either) and the reason they get recommended so much is they are awesome. Anyway, as it happens I bought an ULEZ exempt new car for about £40K not that long ago ........ might be a bit tricky to find one but if you buy a Nismo 370 over this you need your head examined

Cant see why youd want to switch it on and off though, surely you just run a constant dual pump system? @Osakakev, if its the diff cooler you should be able to hear the difference switched on and off when lying under the car, or at least feel the pump doing its thing. If it was a second fuel pump it would be in the tank somewhere so should be pretty obvious
  10. More likely to be an pump for the diff oil cooler TBH, has it got a diff radiator fitted? ETA: yep, just seen youve mentioned it in spec. Very unusual for people to run a secondary fuel pump, much easier just to buy a bigger primary one If it was used for drifting (which with those mods Id be amazed if it wasnt) then Id be very surprised if its still got working TC, I chopped mine off ASAP and enjoyed the car much more

Ive driven quite a lot in Belgium and was going to say the opposite, just drive as fast as you want as there are no police anywhere, if they do stop you say you still thought you were in Germany If you can coincide Spa with a track or test day then do it, you can access the whole circuit from the service roads and some of the views are quite epic (Pouhon and the bit past Blanchemont particularly) Dont bother trying to speak the local lingo as youll end up speaking Dutch to a Frenchman and vice versa, avoid Brussels unless you like stationary traffic and Nurburgring is only 2 hours from Spa .........

I got a quote for taking a car from Cambridge to NC500 last week at £450 + VAT, the fuel alone would have been well over £300 You might find transport companies can offer some kind of service with this, worth an ask I guess - if not just get the train up, have a few celebratory beers on the way back 👍

  16. I remember GTRs being that cheap youd buy and MoT'd one for an engine swap and throw the rest of the car away, £3.5K is the cheapest I recall. All of the guys that were in the scene knew this was going to happen, but no-one had the money or space to take advantage, chances are youll see a better return investing in property anyway. That said I know a guy who sold a 22B in 2011, he got £21K IIRC, hes a bit gutted now
  17. I think Ive got 4 in there before, maybe even 5 - passenger seat all the way forward with 2 people on it, 1 behind and 1 straddling strut brace. Not recommended for long journeys or speed bumps

Thats kind of the point of the test drive though, if something breaks then the car wasnt up to scratch in the first place, obviously if the potential buyer crashes thats a bit different dont think Ive ever bought a car without driving it first, if youre serious then day insurance isnt that expensive.

Thanks for the response, its appreciated, even the arrogant and **** bits :lol: The first couple of quotes up there are recommending Yellowstuff whether you meant to or not - you may have had good experiences with EBC but until youve compared against something better (and Im sure youll have heard people slating EBC before) you cant really judge, I genuinely dont know of anyone who has used Pagid RS, Carbotech or CL and have had a good word to say about EBC afterwards and Id seriously question anyone who does track setup and uses EBC over the other options. Likewise comments on track pads, while McDonalds cars might have issues youre on a 350Z forum, Ive used the harshest pads you can buy and although they are noisy and dusty they still work from cold. Im sure you could have a decent run on Mastermind when it comes to ICE or whatever you have got loads of experience with, but from what youre saying its not brakes, certainly not for serious use. BTW re: belittling people - rather than a Nova, I had a 200SX in 2001 and I was one of the first guys to start drifting in UK in 2002ish, it was a bit more involved than subs and neons. Similarly I loved “forum member who has one product and thinks it’s the best that was pretty much you for the majority of the first half of the topic", thats an absolute classic I used 7 different types of pad* on my 350Z and currently have cars with Pagid, Carbotech, CL and a full ceramic set up on my drive at the moment, I guess thats "talking about people you dont know about" though *Seeing as we are here, in order of preference: CL RC5+, CL RC6, Carbotech XP10, Project Mu, DS3000, DS2500, Yellowstuff (TBF these were worn when I got them) Anyway, nice bantering with you, Id strongly advise looking at RC5+ when you next need pads and maybe we can talk again after that

TBH this is another reason Ill post on these threads - as you know I do quite a few trackdays in the UK and Europe, none of the regular guys will go near EBC, I guess 70% use CL or Pagid RS so its not really a matter of conjecture. Similarly I wont talk about what I havent used, while Ive heard good things about Ferodo Ds 1.11 and Uno thats all I can say until Ive tried them myself
  21. Because its a classic forum situation that reduces the value of the info in the thread, and by extension the forum. Member1 asks for advice, member2 with limited experience weighs in, member3 with more experience points out whats hes saying isnt really accurate. Rather than accept member3 is giving better advice, member2 starts talking about qualifications they hold, something a mate did once and various other irrelevant stuff and finally posts something like "You dont even understand" when he realises he cant back up what hes saying. Member4 searches for the same info in a few months time, finds this thread but doesnt know who to listen to and ends up with Yellowstuff on his car. Maybe Im just old fashioned but I started modding cars before google existed, the information on forums was all that was out there so it had to be accurate. You'd still get guys who didnt really know what they were talking about posting but they get shut down pretty quickly and the forum, and the info on it becomes self regulating. There was a time when Id tell anyone that would listen DS3000s were the best pads ...... and then a more knowledgeable mate told me to STFU until Id actually tried something decent. Now when I see someone making a similar claim I try to do the same, if you look at my first post its just correcting some info, the response I got wasnt exactly "Thank you" though. The problem is that everyone has to be right all the time these days, instead of accepting that some people have more knowledge and more experience they just start ignoring questions and casting aspersions, the people with the actual knowledge leave and the forum stops being a reference for information and starts being an FB chat thread. So anyway, back to the question again - @azurez33 what exactly is it I dont understand?
  22. Dont be like that, I want to know what the issue with track pads on the road is and how EBC Redstuff perform better than CLs. Come on, play the game, youve made some very definite statements that arent correct so rather than "you didnt understand what I typed" (I did, its there in black and white) why dont explain what you actually meant?

Im genuinely overjoyed that you have a degree, congratulations but not really sure how thats relevant here I do indeed have my own experiences, in fact quite a lot of them with quite a lot of different brake pads and this might be why I weigh in on threads like this; IMO the reality is anyone recommending EBC pads for anything other than road use hasnt limited or no experience with superior products. This is not the best person to ask for recommendations, see also coilovers and even tyres in some cases where everyone thinks the one they are using is the best. By all means ignore me but try a set of CL RC5+ on the front of your car and then try and tell me Redstuff are anything like the same
