un1eash, look into the M4 lower arms as well, they make a LOT of difference, if you ditch runflats at the same time its like a differet car Apart from a C63. Or an E63, or a CL63 ....... you get the picture. Or an XFR, XJR. Or a Maserati, or a Bentley CGT. Or RS4/5/6. I could go on? The big difference between 1/2 and 3/4 is size, theres not a huge amount it but the smaler cars feel a lot more at home down a tight B road. Im supposed to be driving an M2 and an M3 in the very near future, at the moment the M3 Comp has it licked on looks alone but we will see ........

And for balance totally agree, the guy in the M2 was a dick, Id have been getting as far away fro him as possible personally. Theres a big difference between a bit of a cheeky slide and 120mph past pedestrians, specially when you clearly dont have the talent to be doing half that speed.

Valy's Zed build #Rocket Bunny >The Blackout<

Are you planning to drive off road in it? -
The X2 isnt that bad, I find since Bangle all BMW designs are initially but then grow on you, the M cars are proper eyecatchers and where I used to think the X6 and 1 series hatch were hideous I actully quite like them now. Not my bag as I cant see why you would ever take one over a 2 series (are there any benefits?) but each to their own, at least they are a bit different.

Not sure I agree on the M3/M4 comparison, I know a lot of former M Lite owners that would say that too .......... the real M cars are a different prospect entirely. M Lites, from the old 135i M Sport (like Ive got) through M135i/M235i and onto the current M140/M240 dont really have any competition to speak of, if youre looking for a relatively small, practical RWD performance car then youre buying one They are immensely better with a few easy suspension mods (control arms and ARB's mainly) and the loss of runflats, with an LSD they are absolutely superb. They are incredibly good value for what they are IMO, but the real bargains are the F21 M135i's, the prices match their numberplate years and they are just superb all round cars. Having driven more than 7K miles in N55 cars the auto is probably the best box choice too, hes wrong on that as well

Safety is a fair one, they are far from the best way of stopping a car and can cause them to flip, I think a lot of it is to avoid safety cars too as youd have one everytime a car went in. For me its pretty straightforward, if there had been a wall there .........

Bloody hell, you lot are a laugh a minute ........ 1st dude - seriously lacking in talent but its not like he pulled out into oncoming traffic or drove up a kerb. 2nd dude - dont see the big deal TBH, no traffic, nicely controlled, not putting anyone in danger. Both would have got Section 59's at worst IMO. The vids where people are trying to burn out inbetween crowds of people make me cringe as everyone knows what will happen if a Mustang tries it ............ but it still happens at Le Mans every year and Nurburgring most trackdays, stuff like this is just exuberance. Flame on by all means, but this sort of thing has been happening ever since someone realised a burnout was a laugh probably 80 years ago.

FWIW the XL spec MPSS rub slightly on one of my arches where normal ones dont, youre probably talking about 1-2 mm at most though.

Ill let you know mate, he usually ells me what he pays but Im sworn to secrecy though

Jesus Christ. If you have about £30K in your pocket and want to do 11 second quarters, they are both valid choices. If you want a new car to take the kids to school and do the shopping every day, one is clearly better than the other, if you dont mind an older car and want to drive on racetracks, one is clearly better than the other but it doesnt stop them being the same money. And Im sorry but this is just naive, money is not the only driver to buying cars or we would all be driving £500 Fiestas. I listed off enough reasons in my last post, if you CBA to read it Im not going to bother posting it up again, suffice to say I could have bought a car that cost three times what mine dis, I could even have bought a new GTR but after considering practicality, running costs, depreciation, reliability and a few other things I bought what suited me best.
-
Give me about 4 weeks and hopefully I will have, a mate has just bought one with 621hp Also supposed to be driving an F80 M3 and an M2 in the near future, will all be interesting comparisons

First bit - because its 4WD, and can be remapped to GTR levels of (straight line) performance for very little money. It also doesnt look like a chavwagon (Civic), have only two doors (Megane), cost big coin (Focus RS) or carry a BMW badge. Second bit - despite doing GTR quarter miles the Golf would be a lot newer, a lot more economical, less ostentatious, better equipped, more practical and probably still under warranty. If your wife is involved in the decision these will all be very big plus points over the 9 year old R35, trust me The point is that a 30K GTR is not an option for most people, its not cheap enough to be a weekend only/track car and has potential for heavy expenditure if it goes wrong, or even if it doesnt. I dont know if you remember the title of the thread but this is why I think it will continue to depreciate - 9 years ago if you wanted a GTR then there werent really any other options, but there are plenty of choices for the same money now, some that are a lot newer and can offer similar performance.
-
The world where GTRs are starting to be roughly the same price ......... but the buyer has to do the school run and then use the car as a daily and doesnt want to spend £5K a year on keeping his car on the road. Bear in mind we are talking an 8-9 year old GTR which does an 11.6 second quarter and will probably have at least 60K miles on it, probably more, I can see a lot of people taking a 2 year old R over something like that.
-
Marshalls had an import on their forecourt for £28K a couple of years ago now, theres been enough facelifts and they are expensive enough to run I think the bottom end could go sub £20K within a few years. When a Golf R or a TT-S can do 11 second quarters for £1500 of modding a car that costs more than that to change the tyres isnt going to be as attractive as it once was

E92 M3 is an awesome track car, like, genuinely awesome but you need to be on track to make the magic happen. Torque and power is all up high, chassis really comes alive when driven at speed, stability and stuff in fast corners is mad - arguably as good or possibly better than mine but Ive changed everything and the M3's are pretty standard. I was lucky enough to smash round Rockingham in a mates F10 M5 the other day and found the same x2, they are stunning on track but youd never get near it on the road
-
Interestingly enough we were having this exact conversation following a trackday at Spa on Monday - those present were driving E92 M3's, a 987 Cayman S and an F80 M3, me in mine as well. All the lads can pedal a bit and were seeing 2.47 - 2.55m laps We all agreed that the Porsche could probably use another 50hp but the BMW's had plenty, as true track cars it might been be worth backing them off a bit. Cant imagine I would have said that 10 years ago but its definitely the case now, particularly when it was wet.
-
I was actually having the same conversation with someone this morning, my N54 is 430hp and 550lb/ft and you need to know what youre doing to drive it quick, a 700hp one would be uncontrollable. I think there are going to be a few "recently completed" N54 builds go up for sale as people realise they have overdone things somewhat .......
-
When you can go around stabbing people and getting away with it if youre "bright" I think 10 months is absolute ridiculous.
-
I used to drift with at least two of the drivers as well. Chuffed for them (it a 5 year tour!) but FML, how cool would that have been?
-
Fixed that one for you mate Always said an S chassis with a VQ and gearbox would be a great combination, looking forward to seeing this progress
-
Caymans are better though
-
Caymans/911s not on the menu? Maybe a 1M? E92 M3's are going to be much, much more fun on track than an A45 ........
-
Mods, can we slap some trade fees on this guy, hes clearly working for Tesla ....... the vid had been released about 1/2 hour before this post
