£100K, 16mpg and will depreciate like bitcoin ..........
-
This is very interesting, was talking to a mate in the pub who has Q and BT and he was saying that the Sky engineer he called out was really suffering trying to make it work together, I was asking how as it cant be that complicated .......... seems I was wrong
-
You see the bit where I say "personal experience"? That was around 1500km in 2 M135i's and 2500km in the Golf across Austria, Germany, France regularly hitting the limiter on the Autobahns, driving slowly is an alien concept to me Fair play, most miles were outside of town but I was amazed with both figures, seriously impressive. Cant speak for the other but I wouldnt be surprised. TT - not enough seats, Legnum is a shout though.
-
From experience I know x35 BMW's can see 40+ mpg, so do Golf GTis. Focus RS is near 40, 981 Caymans are 30+ and 718's are supposed to be close to 40mpg.

I was indecisive now I'm just not sure!!!! Over to you lot

All I can say is theres no point in having toys that you cant/wont play with Ive come into some money recently and naturally decided to spend it on a new car. Except there isnt anything that Id really want - I test drove an S/C 370Z and while I liked it there was no way Id use it over my 135i, or even the MR2 for that matter, and while I like Range Rovers Ive got a better milemuncher already. Id really like a Cayman but again, the 135i covers that area nicely, if you have to decide which car youre taking to Nurburgring then you can probably sell one of them. Sadly I have to agree with Dan, sell the 370 and stop the depreciation and it will make it a lot easier to buy its replacement when it reveals itself to you -
Clutch kick is the one everyone learns first as its the easiest, but shift lock and lift off are actually better for keeping the cars balance, they just take more speed/confidence to pull off. Flicks with power over is probably the best as you keep momentum up but you need even more speed and space and its not the easiest to practice. Too many people rely on the handbrake for entry, regardless of anything else its a brake so is slowing the car down, why would you want to slow down?

Youve never driven a V10 Phaeton or Toureg I see ......... Lacking in performance and to a lesser extent comfort, TBH you could make a similar argument about most high spec Euroboxes these days - they are bloody good allrounders but the best .......... I dont think so.
-
TBH theres not much you need to to do, they are pretty good straight out of the box. Dont get carried away with arms and diffs and drift buttons, a 350 with a decent seat and maybe some lock mods is more than enough for a beginner. Add coilovers and youve got something you could win competitions in. And FWIW you dont need a handbrake to drift properly anyway, youre much better off learning to do it with power and weight.

I think youve got to look at it from the average persons point of view - you might live up a 3 mile long farm track and have 5 kids but most people dont ......... Allround for me is (in no particular order): Performance, value, practicality, reliability, safety, comfort. Stews 997T ticks some of these boxes but its not practical (nothing with less then 4 seats is) and its a bit pricey for the average man on the street, a Tesla is no good if you want to travel any kind of distance. Macans are expensive and juicy and not actually any bigger insidethan a standard saloon and a Lamborghini cannot be the best all rounder in the world by definition - its a Lambo Used to say 4 door E46 M3, would probably go with a 335i/335D estate these days, maybe a Golf GTI, they do pretty much everything well and some things extremely well.

For sale - 2004 DE GT 350Z in Kuro black - Reduced £6,499
docwra replied to veeg33's topic in Zeds For Sale
Feel free to ask mods to delete .......... but people wont pay for the time and love youve put into it, they will just pay what they think an 04 DE with 85K miles is worth. And its unlikely that will be £6500, I know a guy who picked up a slightly tatty 05 with 89K for less than £3K a couple of weeks back. -
Good work that man, truly excellent cars. IF you are looking at remaps, look into MHD as its a lot cheaper than custom mapping.
-
They are a bit soft for my taste but the engine is a beauty, and the 8 speed ZF one of the best non DSG's you can buy, good choice. As someone else said look hard at the options list as resale depends a fair amount of having the right options and right colours, if you want more power its as easy as downloading an app (MHD) to your phone and buying a cable. A few chassis tweaks make a lot of difference but TBF if youre looking at 435 rather than 235 it might be better left as a milemuncher
-
What is it with Nissan and rubbish tyres? Cheers guys, appreciated
-
I seem to remember they were Neovas but not sure, was there any other options including the dreaded runflat?
-
If youre leasing a BMW then you cant beat TRL's prices: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=106417&p=1361177#p1361177 - these are genuine prices and not sales pitches. There used to be a calculator for adding options but its not up at the moment, Ill update if it comes back. I looked at buying the Alfa QV on PCP about this time last year but was put off by the low GFV (£25K IIRC) ........ they seem to have only dropped £15K since release so Im thinking they could be £15K out on the GFV, gutted

Ive done this a few times for a mate that lives in Wales, he does the opposite for me and we have the same agreement with a few of the other members of my car club. Last one was a rally prepped Mk1 RS2000 with 210hp and sequential box, why wouldnt you want to go drive something like that?
-
If your diff works you wont need it ........... yet
-
With S/H prices of M135i's atm youd have to REALLY want a 140 to pay the extra ......... that said the B58 (140) engine has a lot more potential over the N55 (M135), with breathing mods only they are already outperforming M2's ...... :o Other than that can only echo what others have said, spec is important to resale price and there are a few must have options and if youre up for a bit of effort M3/M4 lower arms and ARB's make them handle much better, a remap will see 400+hp as well. Difficult to find anything that competes at the price IMO, I use them as hire cars for smashing around Europe and have a 135i sat on my drive at home too www.babybmw.net is pretty good for info

Ive had 1.5 way and 2 way on cars and Kaaz, Quaife, Nismo, Cusco, Weldo .......... the Kaaz is a fine product, no doubt but its a bit noisy and clunky compared to the Nismo, the Nismo is a lot easier to adjust as well. Quaife works in a different way and feels different too, not my cup of tea but each to their own. By no means am I saying to avoid the Kaaz but the Nismo IMO is a better diff, Id lean towards a 1.5 over a 2 way for a streetcar as well

Guys, Jez is a good mate of mine, I actually spoke to him - its all pukka.
-
He has just confirmed to me. Like I say, tempting ........ might have to get in touch with yer seller and see what he has to say
-
And its legit, all work carried out where he said it was, genuine reason for sale, bit of a bargain TBH. Tempting.
-
No its not, a mate had a Roller once that only got driven in the dry and that had a lot more than 6K miles. I happen to know the gentleman who apparently did the work on it, Ill drop him a line and see what he has to say .......... theres a temptation to return to the Z car fold with this one, I have to say
-
Original work was done by Will @ Streetoptions (who is a magician BTW), it was painted white by Greg @ Tradelink when I sold it top him, it might even still be there
-
Mine was done in metal ......... after Id driven it into a ditch, Id never have done it otherwise My arches were probably about 80mm extended each side and the wheel specs I was running were faintly ridiculous - 18x10 ET -35 front , 11.5 ET -25 at the rear or something, wheels like that dont come up very often and spacing wheels for widearches is not acceptable ........ and it ended up white, notice how much has been added to the Chargespeed bumpers to make them fit with the arches:
