I dunno about you but apart from wheels & a drop, this looks pretty standard Its pretty standard bodyworkwise, but has SUS coilovers, Cusco toe/camber/TC arms front and back, HKS exhaust, and serious work has gone into making those wheels fit. Its definitely not standard and definitely definitely not OE though Really?? SERIOUS work?? I've seen this dodgy shoehorning of fat wheels and stretched tyres on plenty of chavved up Golfs, Saxos and Clios and it's not exactly hard. A lip roll, wheels which are actually too wide (and would be illegal with correct size tyres) and then stretching silly size tyres on to pull the tread back under the arch. Unless you're under 20, haven't developed your own personal taste yet and are driving a Euro box I don't see why anyone would do it. It makes the car look tacky and almost undriveable! Don't get me wrong, I like the stock look and I like a subtle kit with some tasteful wheels...but some of the stuff you've posted up is just crass!! Oh, forgot my disclaimer...this is just my opinion!! One to which you are perfectly entitled. Flame suit on again, but to my eyes most of the wheels in this thread dont fit right - its something that seems to be standard in the UK Z scene. To my eyes, the ones on that blue Z do. And its not "just a lip roll", but you seem to know all about wheel fitment and arch modification so I wont patronise you Remember, Ive actually contacted the guys who own the three cars I posted. I cant believe you think that looks tacky though, I really cant. You wont like my car much.

Fair enough. Makes sense to me to have the pictures and words in the same place, but if its photos only, its photos only. I wonder whether that was why the OP got a little unhappy about it being moved though - perhaps his intention was that people discussed their choices (and other peoples). Either way, Ill stop now as it seems my words will be gone fairly shortly as well

I currently own 26 9J+ JDM wheels with another 4 on order so you could probably say that

Why? Im genuinely interested here - the Z33 is a beautiful car as standard but it can definitely be improved, Im just interested to see how other peoples opinions differ to mine. This is a discussion board isnt it?? RTB - the cars Ive posted have all had arch work and suspension work over and above coilovers to make them like that. If you look at the first pic you can see the grey car has a different front bumper and different skirts - the back bumper is different too, but I cant find any other pics atm. The red car has a different lip and different skirts as well, but it is the wheel fitment that attracts me to all of them TBH. If your taste is for the OE look then fair enough, but I have to say Im surprised.

So you are saying that in your opinion a 350Z cant look any better than the way it comes out the showroom??
-
See, I look at that and think "standard" - it looks really nice, dont get me wrong, but a Nismo kit and GT4's on standard ride height is not inspirational. Thats OE Im afraid. Once again, I am not knocking the car itself, just the terminology
-
Great bitching guys Flamesuit at the ready but a lot of "inspirational" cars on this thread look rather "standard" to me ........... Anyway, theres only three for me: which now looks like this: These were so inspirational that I contacted the owners to find out what the crack was

Anyone Gone From a Powerful Turbo Car To a 350Z?
docwra replied to Tricky-Ricky's topic in 350Z General
So they get 400bhp out of 2 litres? How do they make that lag free? Quite often by mapping in the Anti Lag System. It will also depend on whether you are running a stock turbo or not. Mine, for example, runs an after market, twin scroll turbo and produces maximum boost from 3000 rpm onwards. Yep, that exactly - twin scroll and antilag, along with a good aftermarket map. The antilag sounds immense as well The Evo is much shorter geared than a Skylione which might be why you didnt get on with it phil - I prefer it personally though -

As a pretty competent drifter myself, I can tell you theres no way you would ever catch me doing that if theres ANY other traffic about - its just stupid. The car waiting to come on the RB could have caused him serious problems if it had chosen to go. I can also tell you that he has pretty weak skills, and again, its bloody idiotic doing that on a road at anytime, day or night if thats your level of talent. As we say on a certain drifting board, street drifting is like getting at yourself - everyone does it, but its only the hardcore tossers that get their mates round to watch and film it -
I got 78db @ 4K rpm at Castle Combe last year - Jap spec, decatted. I think it was the lowest he had tested all day

Pretty fair comment that - I got my ass handed to me by a Focus RS the other day which was disappointing, but I was looking good while I got beat. As for the Seat's, dont underestimate - my bro had his first tear up the other day with a standard looking Ibiza, and there was pretty much nothing in it. His Evo 8 is running 383hp/391 lb/ft. -

Looks like half the SXOC is in this thread Ive still got a 270hp S13 convertible, a 370hp S13 and my brother has just bought a 400hp Evo, and its pretty much as the other say - you do miss the kick from the turbo and the noises that accompany it, but for me I prefer the more linear power delivery. The Evo is almost lag free and is savage, but is very difficult to find a rhythm in (mainly as you are braking a lot coz its so fecking fast), whereas the Z seems to flow a lot better. Id add that for drifting the N/A delivery is streets ahead. -
If you get CF doors you will need to buy door bars too I was thinking of getting carbon doors when I did mine, and just leaving a 10mm pinstripe so you could see the carbon. I actually spoke to R35LEE and you can guess the rest though ..........
-
Yep, was a difficult decision for me too, but glad I went the Z route - my brother has an S2K but is getting rid after about 10 months as its just that little bit too difficult to live with Awesome cars but I find you need to be in the right mood to enjoy one.

More pictures look! Its actually clean now

Cheers guys - Im really pleased that nearly all of the feedback has been positive. The car needs to go down an inch or two, and the arches are perfect for the rims - they will tuck nicely. Unfortunately due to the protrudey front bumper its going to be a big NO for speedbumps, but it will look the tits. Ive had a couple of people suggest a FOBW (its a BGW round my way - Big Gay Wing) but Im not sure ......... same goes for the front numberplate, I just dont know how Im going to mount it, but Im thinking a square plate down on one side. The guy that did the work is Will @ Streetoptions - the arches are all fabbed out of metal and he reckons are tough enough to be rolled if I need it - shockingly good work. Couple more stage pics from the build - Ill do a full project thread once Ive got some pics of it clean
-
It should actually have been a carbon diffuser but we decided that the black would look better with the blue - if anyone wants a carbon diffuser let me know It looks absolutely immense from the rear - you'll see once Ive got some proper pics up

A little while ago, I had a bit of an incident involving a 350Z, a roadsign, a ditch and a hedge (in that order). The poor old thing didnt come out of it looking too good: Ouch. So anyway, I decided that it needed fixing. OE Nissan Parts would have cost more than the car was worth, so I spoke to Mr Dan at SRB and ordered up a Chargespeed Type 1 kit - front and back bumpers, skirts and a carbon diffuser. Next I decided that Id treat myself to some new wheels, as my missus had already nicked the Gram Lights you can see in that picture for her Onevia. I found a set on ebay, but unfortunately lost them at the last minute Fortunately, the guy who won them is a mate of a mate (now a mate of mine too) Nick at Nickson Motorsport couldnt fit them so got in touch and offered them up to me. Nice one. Except when I finally got hold of them, I found that they were rather larger than I had thought, particularly at the front. Unfortunately due to the enormous dish, they also wouldnt go anywhere near clearing my Brembos. Arse. They did look awesome when test fitted to the (still bent up) car though, so I manned up and decided that it was now death or glory. I contacted Will @ Streetoptions and after a bit of a chat decided to go for it. The boy done alright, dont you think?? Shitty phone pics, but Badass. I got great pleasure yesterday from sitting in my living room, watching people nearly fall over from staring at it, probs trying to figure out what it is Ill be doing a proper project thread once Ive cleaned it a bit, and it is going to be going lower so dont start, but Im pretty damn chuffed Oh, and 10J ET -41 front, 10J ET -43 rear.

I remember having this discussion on the 200SX webboard about 5 years ago. Sadly, our thoughts were proven right, but I dont think its down to the car TBH. Any good looking performance car will depreciate and once it reaches a certain level will become accessible to a wider market. Where a S-Class MErc or a Lexus will appeal to your Dad though, the Z33 will appeal to a younger, baseball cap wearing element. As far as modifications go, I dont think the surface has even been tapped in the 350 world yet, at least not in the UK. Admittedly, there are some lary turbo and supercharger conversions, but Ive yet to see any mental wheels, crazy body modifications, engine swaps or drag/drift specials. Im probably going to sort two of them next week mind you ....... Its not a chav car though, at least yet. Honda Civics, Saxos, Focii are chav cars and the 350 is in another league entirely.

So did I. If a Scando rally driver got to that angle he was going to spin - you dont invoke that drift angle outside of drift competitions. Sorry, but I get sick of hearing "We were doing this in Escort/Capris/Morris Minors before you were born sonny" or "Rally Drivers do that with their eyes closed" Drifting is having the car sideways before you enter a corner, and maintaining the maximum angle of attack whilst staying on line and hitting the apex, then keeping the car sideways for as long as possible on the exit. Any fool with RWD can do a powerslide, but its balancing the car before reaching the corner and then maintaining it thats the art. Quite aside from that, Kawabata was doing close on 100mph in 4th for that corner, didnt drop much speed through the corner but then kept the car on the lockstops slowing back down to 30 odd mph for the next corner. You dont do that in a Cortina.
-
Oh, and if a Scandinavian did that "years" ago then it was because he was about to spin. By no means the quickest way round a corner, obviously.
-
That wasnt written by a drifter .......... Backwards entries have been going on for years - the UK guys have started doing it now as well. Not as good as that, I hasten to add, but "dumbstruck with amazement" - errr, no. Luke Fink: Driftsquids: Kawabata-san can pedal a bit, but has competed in the UK and been beaten by our boys on more than one occasion
