  1. I have been known to 8 sets of rear tyres in the first 13 months kinda suggests that I have done, though I try not to now Ive got 19's on the back. Im not in competition as I dont have the time (Im too competitive anyway, cant stand losing and Im not good enough to win ) but I am certainly "pretty good" - I can drift in 4th gear and have seen entry speeds of over 100mph, and Im quite happy twin/triple/train drifting with people As Ive said before, when you are happy going round a private roundabout on the lockstops banging off the limiter in 3rd, a bit of a TCS flash isnt quite such a concern. If you dont ever see the light then IMO you arent using the car to its capability - I saw it on my first test drive Like a rev limiter its there for a reason, its not a bad thing if it flashes up. The TCS is definitely a bit too quick to come in, but its a safety device and as such works well. Ive known a couple of lads with MK IV Supras get to 90 degrees before it kicks in, and you can imagine what happens then ............ Remember, youve got traction control under your right foot as well ............ ITs actually a pretty safe car to slide, its very square on the road, progressive and predictable when comared to an S2K or even an RX8 - I think a lot of drivers would benefit from some additional training as I think you would be suprised just how capable these cars are
  2. Wash your mouth out with soap man! GTR's better then Meisters!! Thought I should add these wheel will need some spacing to look as excellent as they should do on a Zed.
  3. Cheeky vid I took from the outside. It was rather loud
  4. Possibly my favourite wheels to go on a 350Z. Bit played out now though these days.
  5. They arent heavy, they are awesome, but they are a bit proicey and the Z33 really needs 19's at the least.
  6. Ive been drifting for 7/8 years so am probably a bit more used to the ole sidewaysness than most. The first thing I do when I get in is turn the TCS off - IMO when you are pressing on its more of a hindrance than anything as it changes the balance of the car when it kicks in. The braking on the front wheels is a horrible, horrible thing and if I knew how to stop it I would, if you are right on the limit you dont need more load on the outside wheel all of a sudden. That said, I wont let the missus drive with it turned off at all
  7. That was actually Julian in Belindas car, but Im sure she would have been capable
  8. Hah! See the black softtop S13, its the last car donutting at the very end when the camera zooms out? Thats me that is Cheers for this, its much better quality than the previous versions. Shame they didnt show what we did after we had got the record
  9. Being blunt, you are mad if you use £40 ebay cheapy cheap wheel nuts IMO, they probably dont even have a recommended torque setting and damaging them would be too easy. Rays are 75 lb/ft, which feels far too loose but if you overtighten then they are liable to strip the thread. Rays may be expensive, but then they are holding your wheels on, which is pretty important some might say.
  10. Indeed, my GTI-6 is faster than the Zed in real life and more fun too. And cost about the same as 4 tyres. Ive also got a 207 HDi that averaged 52.3mpg on the way to Newcastle the other day, despite not being overtaken by anything
  11. There arent any safety regulations covering wheel nuts in Japan or the UK AFAIK. Meeting it therefore isnt that difficult to pass them. If you really need coloured wheelnuts then pay the extra money and get the Rays, but make sure you follow the torque settings and arent taking them on and off too often. Id copaslip them or something as well as they have been known to corrode, meaning they need to be ground off, probably taking your wheel with them. They look pretty n'all, but there are too many potential downsides to me.
  12. They are banned in any form of FIA motorsport, and the ones in the link I doubt have any kind of safety rating on them ........... Ive known two cars lose wheels in the last month, both had alloy wheel nuts
  13. Don't you mean twice? If you can get a trolley jack on that front point and lift the car youre a better man than me
  14. I wouldnt go messing with the inlets myself - I matched a inlet manifold to the inlet ports on a 200SX a few years ago, but thats because the original casting was SHOCKING - if you get it wrong you can do more harm than good.
  15. Weve had this discussion on Driftworks and are currently doing it on SXOC - alloy wheel nuts are not as strong as steel ones and we have recently seen a few failures. My post on there: 1. Alloy is softer than steel. 2. So soft in fact that wheel studs can strip it. 3. So can a man with an angle grinder who wants your wheels. 4. Before you say it, the reduction in unsprung weight is probably about the same as cleaning your car. 5. If you dont believe me, see what Driftworks had to say about it http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drif...el-nuts-s.html 6. Alloy wheel nuts are not allowed in competition. If you really, really have to use alloy then Rays have brass inserts but Id personally recommend steering well clear. I certainly wouldnt go near anything thats costing £40 on ebay And to anyone who is about to tell me "Ive used them for x years and never had a problem", I think I used the same analagy on the DW thread "Ive fired this revolver at my head 5 times now and it hasnt gone off, it must not be loaded"
  16. Buy a trolley jack and do it yourself. You can jack the back off the diff, meaning youve only got to do it three times too
  17. I agree, thought they must be the "before" part of the "before and after" ........ My car, from two years ago, this year we are in a sheddy looking campervan with flower stickers all over it (and the driver names of course)
  18. TBH Husky I'm not arguing with you per se, just the concept of "correct English". The word teenager didn't exist until the 1950s (dreamt up by by NY ad-men) but almost immediately became common usage. The very best of text-speak will be amalgamated overnight and the rubbish stuff will be discarded. Text speak is no indicator of intelligence, pride, education or class. It (probably) can only be taken as an indicator of a comparably young age. As for your last sentence, the answer is yes! Text speak is self-evidently at the very forefront of the evolution of the English language and you are judging people who use it. Is my post invisible or something? Text speak is alternative spelling of correct words, its not a language at all, not even a pidgin or a creole, its incredibly unlikely to supercede spellings we have been using for hundreds of years. It is just badly spelt English. As for everyone saying "I cant spell, does that make me a chav" of course it doesnt, you are making the effort to be understood - its people using txt spk that are the chavs.
  19. Captain, you are obviously a man who has studied English, you can tell that from your style of writing. You say there is no such entity as "correct" English, which Im inclined to agree with, but there is "correct" spelling, there has to be or we wouldnt be able to read what other people were writing. Seeing as this thread is effectively about the spelling of words and not the use of words, impressive though your post may be, its not strictly relevant. We need a uniform way of spelling words like "mate" or "thanks" as without it there word stops being the word. Its also necessary to avoid phonetic confusion through accents, patois or pidgins, all of which are still recognised part of the English language. Words like "innit", "sick", "nang", "pikey" or even "howay" are all examples of slang, and thats a lot closer to what you are referring to - this is the evolution and development of the language, these words may well become commonplace in The Times within the next 5 years. Differing spellings of standardised and accepted words isnt and wont, thats plain wrong. Or "incorrect", if you like
  20. Meisters eh? Guessing they were brand new as there hasnt been a set like that floating around for a while, can you post specs?? They look amazing on a Zed, but I wont spoil your thread, everyone knows how to use Google Image Search
  21. Yep, mine is not overly loved by me although the missus seems to - its a great car but I dont feel for it the way I do my GTI-6 (they will have to prise the keys from my cold dead hands on that one) That said, recent test drives (including a 997C2S as mentioned on this thread) have left me pretty cold. It will be replaced eventually by M3 or IS-F, not sure Ill love them either and will probably still keep driving the pug
  22. Quite possibly Jez, I just dont know if Im around that weekend at the moment - Ill definitely be coming to see you sooner or later though Is Ninja still the operator at SRR BTW?
  23. I disagree with this, motors doesn't need to be 13 to 1 AFR at low rpm/boost levels. Running a turbo car at 13 to 1 at high rpm isn't a good idea needs to be in the low 12's/high 11@s AFR to last espec if you run high top speeds. Even a N/A 350Z will be in the 11's AFR at high rpm. All car need to get richer going up the rpm. Yes if the car is different cams/compression/S/C_Turbo size it all makes a diffrence to the require AFR. If you play with the axis number on the AFR map I can make it look super smooth if I like. But how many times do you drive a car from 1500rpm to 6500rpm on full throttle? dyno plots are just for reference. Hey, Im not arguing with you, you do it for a living, I dont. I can see that a turbo car needs to run richer at high revs, didnt realise it was necessary with NA though. I just find it interesting that you have deliberately mapped to change the AFR's a fair amount as the revs go up, Ive not see that much variance before
