  1. That would be my first choice. I was chatting to the guy fitting my coilovers the other day. He said "Import is it??" and I took the ****, as from the numberplate recess on the rear bumper its obvious. He pointed out it was an aftermarket bumper. I stopped taking the ****.
  2. They will make an Elise shake like a sh*tting dog if you pass at over 150mph Static burnouts are very difficult though.
  3. +1 - we're looking at chopping in Amanda's Ibiza, and although the quote for it is about £6500 in Parkers, they called around other dealers and found out they are quite hard to shift atm with SEATs good deals on new cars, so dropped the price they are willing to pay to £4500 as they dont think they can shift it You tried we buy any car? Ive sold a couple to them now at more than dealers were offering on trade in
  4. Speak to my mate Phil @ archenemy http://www.archenemy.co.uk/ Highly recommended, they have done a few of my cars now
  5. Yes, but compared to cars with similar GT credentials (a 200SX is not a sportscar, neither is an RX8) its heavy. Thats all Im saying, its not because of big fuel tanks or heavy duty hubs , the car is heavy in the first place. Ekona might be right, for it to work dynamically it needs to be 1500KGs, but Ive mever known a car you cant make better by making lighter
  6. Amazing engine, bit of a soft chassis for me. 1M is going to be where its at I think, same engine with a remap but M sport footwork.
  7. Yep, this is the only way to cut the front wheel braking thing which I hate. Switch it and you can put it back on when you want Lum from SXOC BTW??
  8. As we all know, there are very simple things (plenum spacer, HFC, decent sounding air filter, throttle controller doobery) that should have been standard, whats to say a diet shouldnt be included in that list? Id have thought they would have developed the 370Z with a view to weight saving a bit more TBH. The biggest problem the 350 has is weight, plain and simple and this is why this is an interesting topic to me. If it was a 1250KG car then it would go, stop and handle a lot better and would be frankly awesome. If you can find out what creates the weight then you can consider how to remove it, which will improve the car, no question.
  9. Yes, and there are cossies, 200SX's, Skylines and all manner of other cars putting 600lb/ft through much older and weaker designs too. How much do you think an uprated driveshaft adds? 1kg each side? Maybe 2? The prop is another what, 3KG?? An RX8 has two extra doors man! They must be at least 25KG each!! In that pic of the Zeds rear suspension setup, I wonder how much of that was additional bracing added after the first design?? Thats where the weight is for me, a patch to solve a wobbly body.
  10. The S15 was just a facelift of the S14, proven by the fact that most oily bits fit both (speaking as a former S14a owner). OK. I was speaking as someone who has had both (at least for a weekend for the S15), and as Club Secretary and Treasurer of the owners club. The S15 is immensely stiffer than the S14 and has a fair old amount of additional bracing. Unfortunately the pics are gone but you get the idea: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/technic ... acing.html I like the way everyone is claiming the engine weight I put up on the last two pages isnt right, I didnt make it up - anyway, I fail to see what engine weight has to do with the gearbox or other dynamic components. The torque might affect it, sure, but this one: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car ... ialty_file has 290lb/ft and is turboed but has only had the clutch changed, and I know of others running standard driveshafts, gearboxes and hubs?? with much more power than standard. I also know people running MX5's with much more power than standard without changing the drivetrain. In fact, who changes hubs anyway?? Is it when you want to convert it to run on rails or something??
  11. What do you reckon reserve will be?? £8K? More?
  12. WOOO! PEDANT ALERT!! Having just had HSD's fitted on mine (which wont be as good as KW's) Im amazed that every single aspect of the handling and ride is better - more control and more comfort - it would appear that there is quite a lot of room for improvement over the standard set up.
  13. The RX8 has a lot more space and the engine is only 40Kg's lighter, when you are talking about brakes as heavy items then you are clutching at straws Im afraid ....... The Silvia was released 2 years bvefore the Z33, and its not very similar to an S14 at all, its a lot stiffer and has additional crash protection. I could find loads of examples but I dont need to, the Zed is a heavy car for what it is. Why didnt you just say that in the first place then And I thought the 370z was a tiny bit lighter than the last 350z? Thats what they were trying to sell it as anyway. I actually only noticed the other day when I was having coilovers fitted just how much excess metal there is under the car, its more than on my convertible S13. Id have thought the major driving force behind the design of the 370 would be to get rid of some of this metal (and weight) but its not "noticeably" lighter at all. Shame, as I really think the VQ35 would benefit from not having to drag round all that extra lard ....... one day my VQ35DE S13 will show the world this.
  14. OK, fine. How did Nissan make the S15 (same power, same year, same configuration, same manufacturer) 300KG lighter? How did Mazda make the RX8 (same year, 2 extra doors, cheaper, similar power, same crash test results) 200KG lighter? How do Porsche (newer, better crash testing, more power) make a Cayman 300KG lighter? Im sorry, arguments about the metal used, safety devices, engine weights arent anything to do with it. You only have to look at that bleeding great strutbrace in the boot, the similarly large one under the boot floor and the additional bracing all over the car to see the reason its heavier is the original design wasnt stiff enough. IMO at least. Next question - why is a 370 heavier than a 350 then??
  15. A post I made on a previous "Why is it so heavy" thread: I think perhaps a different approach might answer this question a bit better .......... RX8 - engine weight 122KG , overall weight 1350KG RX7 - engine weight 122KG, overall weight 1270KG 200SX - engine weight 150KG, overall weight 1250KG 350Z - engine weight 160KG, overall weight 1550KG Sure there might be a couple more airbags in the Z33 (apart from the RX8), but there is 2 less seats than in the 200SX or RX8 .......... The RX8 is a contemporary of the Z33, and the RX7 and 200SX stopped being produced in 2002 when the Z33 was first built. Why are these cars 300KG lighter when they arent really very different - the S15 200SX is made by the same company! Even a 2009 911 is under 1400KGs, a Cayman is under 1300
  16. How much were you charged per hour, out of interest?
  17. YHPM, Im in Glasgow for a wedding this weekend as well (but will be drunk all the time I expect)
  18. Not really that much work - vinyl on the bonnet, crappy spoiler, blue light tints ........... The work will have been in sourcing wheel that are that hideous, yer man did well there. Now tell me you dont want a exhaust that lights up seven different colours lmao Where do I sign??
  19. Sorry dude but TCS being off is never to blame for an accident. Driving faster than the conditions allow is .......... As I said earlier, theres another TC system under your right foot
  20. Proper plate diffs improve just about any cars handling masses, but again can make it a bit less predictable ..........
  21. Theyre good, but isnt Bren @ Apex the K Sport man already??
  22. Its not a fake, see why they sh*t their pants:
  23. Not really that much work - vinyl on the bonnet, crappy spoiler, blue light tints ........... The work will have been in sourcing wheel that are that hideous, yer man did well there.
  24. You mean the thing that brakes both front wheels if it thinks you have downbshifted too far?? HOW DO YOU TURN IT OFF, TELL ME MAN, ITS NEARLY KILLED ME A COUPLE OF TIMES!!!
  25. The car can be driven quicker with TCS off, no question. Thats says to me that if its flashing up you arent pushing to hard, you are just approaching the limit of what the car is happy with, which is fine. Poor tyres, alignment and road conditions can affect that of course, and Id certainly recomend any driver who isnt totally confident to use it in the wet, but in the dry I find it affects driving enjoyment and performance. Oh, and if you cant tell when your wheels are spinning try watching the rev counter next time Ive found on the very rare occasions Ive driven with it on it tends to go on hard upshifts (usually 2nd > 3rd) or when cresting, both of which arent really major issues AFAIC.
