  1. Oh you'd be surprised: The amount of threads I've seen with "I was passing Elises/Caterhams/GT3s all day in my Zed!" on here beggars belief! They were parked in the pits though TBF, a friend of mine has just done a 8.34 at the Ring in a 230hp SX on road tyres, it can be done ........ Of course its not going to be in the same league as a trackday special, but I tell you the eye opener for me - after years of driving shonky driftcars or 200SX's on their limit of power to a track, having get the tools out when I arrive, change tyres, fiddle with suspension settings, suffer from noise on the way up and back its an absolute pleasure to cruise up, stick a helmet on, rag about with the air con blowing and then just drive back again. Seriously considering a European tour this winter as the car seems to be capable and is enough fun on track to warrant it
  2. Nicely put my friend, very nicely put. In the first session, at least for the first few laps I was being very, very careful as the sudden change in balance would certainly be enough to send you spinning into a barrier if you were at the limit - a couple of the guys behind me commented how they werent too keen on passing as they kept seeing my car shimmy and clouds of (tyre) smoke coming from the front! The second session was totally different, with some nice 4 wheel drifts and a bit of movement under braking, and is the first time Ive realised quite how good the car is - I dont think you can reach that point with the nanny aids left on, I really dont, and as Ive said elsewhere my opinion is that you are denying yourself something if you do. Sure, its not for the average man on the street, and my misuss drives everywhere with everything turned on, but on the track its a different story.
  3. Deactivates everything, including ABS, which I didnt even get close to needing on track I went from this ....... ...... to this ......... ........ in three plugs
  4. But I had matched tyres Realised my explanation was a bit rubbish, I basically pulled off the cover for the brake fluid, and you can see three connectors on top of each other, each with an ovalish plug. I pulled all three of these - top and bottom were easy, middle one needed pliers. You know youve done it right as the TC off and SLIP lights come up on the dash after its been done Will try get a pic later

Did a couple of sessions at Donington at the weekend and Im even more impressed than I was now. I didnt even change the damping settings and they were just awesome, where I expected them to be every time.
  6. Cheeky update on this, as I went out for two sessions at Donington this weekend. Im running 255/40/18 on the front and 275/35/19 on the rear, both with matched RE050A tyres (someone tell Ekona, quick ) Before anyone says anything my TCS is probably super sensitive due to the non standard radiuses. After 2 corners I was already having problems with the stability control firing the front brakes on me, it was actually causing them to lock and threw the car off line. I managed to drive round it for the most part but it seriously affected my enjoyment and Id argue the stability and safety of the car, bad news. Got back in and pulled all of the ABS plugs and got the slip light to come up, went back out and the difference was astonishing. I only plugged them back in so the missus could drive it home. Id also add that Ive run spacers on loads of different cars and the Zed was the only one that was adversly affected by it.
  7. Nobody likes to see two men rolling around hugging each other. in the early years of ufc there were no rules , no glove , no weight classes. so Royce Gracie brought bjj to the ufc and dominated every oponent no matter how much bigger they were by taking them to the floor and puting them in situations were no one had been before or been used to . Yeah, Ive been watching it since UFC 10 or so, just far, far prefer striking battles to ground and pound. Lots of respect for the guys that do it mind you I heard that to try to make it safer after 4/5 of them the authorities decided gloves needed to be worn in the ring. All this actually achieved was a large increase in head injuries as thew guys could punch full strength without breaking their hands
  8. Mr drive, last year: 350Z - 290hp S13 convertible - 290hp S13 driftcar - 387hp Then I had two 306 GTI-6's for another 340hp, a campervan and a transit weighing in 150hp, and an S12 driftcar that was probably about 200hp. And they all worked!!
  9. But conversely, a teaching degree (B.Ed) from De Montfort is generally considered to be superior to one from Cambridge ....... I remember it with my A levels - my college offered two different examining board courses and one was substantially easier than the other. Unfortunately, unlike universities people dont tend to know the difference between two maths A levels and everyone who took the harder course wished they had done the easier one ........ Likewise, if youve had one good candidate from Rubbishtown Polytechnic and a bad one from Warwick Uni, for example, you would probably lean towards Rubbishtown regardless just through personal experience. As an employer myself, I have to say I would only really be additonally impressed by Oxbridge, Edinburgh and maybe a couple of other universities on someones CV
  10. Seems that one is a one way street to some extent
  11. Does it actually do anything though, other than click??
  12. Boxter S is a soft top mate, not the same comparison. A 2007 Boxter S is 1356KG anyway, a 2007 350Z droptop is 1634
  13. The number of complete tards Ive seen on video, showing their faces and numberplates while exceeding the speed limit massively/drifting/street racing is unbelievable.
  14. Ummmm. Sorry mate, no-one gets a GTR at 21 without some luck featuring in there. I worked 70+ hours from the age of 18 (when I left college), I cant accept that there would be any way I could afford a £20K car at 18 and then insure it regardless of what I did for a living. I now own a company that turns over 5m a year and I cant afford a GTR ........ sure, I could sell my house and buy somewhere much smaller, but to do that at 21?? Fair play to you and your mate, always good to see someone grafting for what theyve got, but you cant tell me that anyone, anywhere could have a GTR at 21 if they worked hard, I cant accept that. end of the day if you have a good job you can afford it! it all depends what you do with your money. like you said you could if you had a smaller house. anyone that works hard can have one at that age, it just depends what line of work there in and how they handle the money there on. A GTR over 5 years is a £15K deposit and £900 a month. Thats before fuel, tyres and servicing, so lets say £1200 a month. Insurance will be at least £5K, so another £450 a month, thats £1650 a month, plus the £15K in the first place. If you live with Mum and Dad, dont ever go out, dont drink, dont have a missus, dont smoke, dont buy clothes you will still need nearly a year of saving £1650 a month, then you will also be paying that for the next 5 years. Thats £26K a year ........ which is a bloody good salary for a 20 year old, even if he has no life at all. If you are earning £35K, which is a LOT for a 20 year old, thats still only £500 a month to enjoy as well as your GTR ........

Out of interest what other coilovers have you had? Just curious Lets think, Ive got HKS Hipermax II on my S13 (very good), Teins and RSR's on the Onevia, Boge on my old Delta, D2's (horrible) and Apex Gen I on my old S13. Ive recently driven cars on Tein Flex and Superstreet, both of which I liked and Apex Gen II which are a vast improvement over the originals Id say. Im told Driftworks CS2's are excellent but Im not sure Ive driven on them myself
  17. Ive missed something havent I? All I saw was a link to a forum where a guy admits doing 90mph ....... EDIT: OK, read some of it, very sobering. Whats it got to do with doing 90mph on a motorway, which seems to be why the OP is being called an idiot? If admitting doing 90 on a mtoorway can be used against you in a dangerous driving case with totally different conditions two years down the road Id be very surprised ..........
  18. Hos is going to get nicked when the police dont know when, where or even if this actually happened? I think you are being a bit pedantic chaps, Ive mentioned far worse on forums and havent been arrested. Oooh, hang on, theres someone knocking at the door, Ill be back in a second .......

Polo I think went "true coilover", and his car doesnt bear much resemblance to anything on here either Driftworks boys do run them, DW are the official sales people so its not surprising, but they really are good, Ive never had coilovers that can be more compliant than standard suspension, but then work like track suspension when pressing on. The car isnt bouncy, crashy or unpredictable at all, it really does do everything better than standard.

    HSD Coilovers

Just had them fitted and Im really, really impressed, every aspect from ride to turn in has been improved. For the record this is about the 8th set of coilovers Ive had on a car and Ive driven countless sets, these really are excellent. See Driftworks for buyingness
  22. TT's are Golfs in a posh frock, Zed was designed to do what it does The boot is rubbish though TBH, the strutbrace gets in the way of putting anything sizeable in it I prefewr the 350 in pretty much every other aspect though
  23. two things: CREDIT RICH PARENTS Or the obvious one, work hard in a decent paid job. I did, I had to buy and insure all those cars myself and worked my arse off for it. If you can afford £7K+ for the car and then £3K+ a year on insurance at 19/20 you either dont have any kind of life, or are getting money elsewhere.
  24. Whatever happened to the days of buying an absolute shitter of a car and driving that until you could afford to insure something decent?? I had a 1.1 Mk1 Fiesta, then a 1.2 Nova, then a 1.6 Orion, then a 1.8 Sierra before I got anything Id want to mention in public
