  1. Same here. I think they give prisoners the option to have testing done on them instead. That way the person can decide rather than some poor animal being tortured. Ive been involved with agrochemical testing on animals and its not that easy. Its not nice but its a necessity for the development of medicines and agricultural solutions that these things are tested on animals - the animals are not in pain or discomfort at any time and are treated extremely well I should add. You cant see what the effect of a fertiliser would be on redents by testing it on Mad Pete or Dave the Key ......... you would also need to find 100's, if not thousands of willing volunteers for each stage of each new compound.
  2. Yeah, I got one as well with a nice picture of a Note on the front ......... eh? Surely youd use a GTR? Either way, when Range Rover and Lexus invited me to similar they were going to let me drive the cars ........... think Ill be swerving this one
  3. Exactly my problem, Im actually running 18's on the front and 19's on the back, and front profile although taller isnt quite enough to compensate for the difference ....... the car has far more grip (255's and 275's) but its not lack of grip its reacting to. Understeer and lack of steering feel in new cars is what puts so many nose first into ditches, in RWD it puts the fear of god into me ......... Ive mentioned it elsewhere but on track I unplug the ABS sensors inside the wing, SLIP and VDC lights come on and presto hey, a car that doesnt think it knows better than you do
  4. Its not triggered by grip, I had a mare on track the other day with brand new RE050's (all round, thank you very much ), it is the difference in rotational wheel speed - doesnt have to slip by much either as it was triggering on nearly every corner. I run non standard wheel sizes and non standard tyres sizes so just turn it off most of the time. The one I find most unnerving is when it decides you are about to understeer and fires the front brakes, it must detect the most minute amount of slip on the fronts though as it always does it too early ........
  5. Nobody will ever convince me that having 4 FK452s on a car is safer than having 2 RE050's and 2 FK452s - your overall grip will be reduced, braking distances are increased, feedback will be less. With 4 452's the car isnt as "Nissan intended" either, and as for temperature ........ if you are the type of guy who checks your tyre pressures hot and cold to within 0.1 PSI then by all means you keep worrying about temperature differences I know, Ive tried it, on track, on road, drifting, hillclimbing, you just have to drive the level of grip that you have, not what you had last week. Your VDC comment is also wide of the mark, it acts on differing wheels speeds not grip levels. I for one would 1000% prefer a car thats strong at the front but looser at the back, these things are lethal when they understeer. Not disagreeing that the best thing to do is to go buy 4 of the best tyres you can, but if you rear Falkens only have 1000 miles on them replacing them seems a bit pointless to me. Sorry to keep banging on but when you start talking about temperature and VDC grip levels .......

    Tyre advice

Although I really rate PS2's (and pretty much all Michelin tyres) Im far too tight to actually buy any either

    Tyre advice

Im surprised by this, Im not a fan of Vreds at all, but PS2's IMO are about as good as you can buy. Maybe its something to do with the voodoo diff and suspension on the M3??
  8. As you may know, Ive had a few face offs with Ekona, one thing I would say is not once has he been condescending or ill informed, the guy clearly knows what hes talking about and can put a case across. Asking for a conversion rate from Bar to PSI isnt the most technical of issues either, lets face it .........
  9. In its old form (standard with nice wheels) it used to get a comment every other day, and I remember when I drove it to Le Mans the Frenchies went mental for it, got a lot of attention that week. Since its been wide arch with stupid wheels people actually take pictures when I stop, stare in traffic and fall off kerbs looking at it. Ive had three strangers shake my hand as they feel its lovely but an achievable car for them, thats nice to hear Being honest, I dont get the hysteria, certainly not over standard cars - they arent that rare round these parts, and at the end of the day can be picked up for £6K these days, hardly a Maserati Gransport or a GT2RS .........
  10. Needs lowering for me, arch gaps detract from what is a sexy wheel.
  11. Weird, when we had the thread on car weights there was load of "Of course it wont weigh as little as the Porsche, the design/materials/overall cost are in no way comparable" Id have one like a shot myself, things that cost twice as much usually do for a reason.

    Jaguar XF-R

Im told by a friend who has tested an XF-R, IS-F and M3 at Nurburgring that they go in that order. Having driven a V8 XF, I can believe it too ......... like driving melted chocolate but still turned in a 13.4 1/4 mile for the SXOC TOTB team last month
  13. Good spot - I noticed the brakes in the first picture but the badges kinda give it away ........ http://www.supercars.net/cars/3517.html
  14. I would fundamentally disagree here. Everybody can see the obstruction, everybody politely queues up to get past and the idiots who feel they can use this as an opportunity to "overtake" and bypass everybody are incredibly annoying. Everybody else is just being sensible about it rather than pushing past each other just right by the cones. The Highway Code actually says merge in turn, but if the outside lane is empty then the proper thing to do is get in the inside lane. You arent "merging in turn", you are beeing bloody impatient and holding up the people who are already queueing.
  15. I got hit for exactly the same thing here, was carrying the plate in the car as it had literally just come back from the bodyshop. HE said that I could either be done for no front plate or not displaying tax ...... crime of the century that one when he knew the car was taxed as he had just checked ........
  16. Horse riders cant really clear up after themselves though, that would mean gettin off the horse and letting it run about while you scrape up its shyte ....... I know some riders do have scoopers but you need someone to walk behind you with one. As for bikes, come live in Cambridge for a while. You dont know how easy youve got it, believe me.
  17. A stock car should be fine, I got a Chargespeed front bumper and it was close ....... then I lowered the car and its tickover in first with teeth gritted
  18. TBF the jump from a 355/360 to a 430 is just as big, relatively speaking. The bastards When I visited Maranello to discuss some business I got a tour of the road car factory - we went downstairs first, and as the 458 had literally just been released I was drooling, didnt even really register the 430 spiders on the same production line My contact then said to me "Now we go see something special", stepped into a lift and we came out upstairs - according to him the only true Ferraris are the V12's, which are all made upstairs. It was pretty cool, it has to be said ......... but would you take a 599 over a 458??
  19. Tyre life all depends on how you drive, Ivbe had rears last for less than 1000 miles but I drive a little differently to most Best price I could find on Bridgestones last time was Black Circles, Camskill are usually best, mytyres and blackcircles are worth a shot as well
  20. 5 of us could club together and get an F430 for a whole day .........
  21. Ben, is that not a GTR-D rather than a grid old chap? Strike that, 6 spokes rather than 5 but it must be a Grid Drift -D then If they are coming in mental 19 inch sizes let me know for sure.
  22. The 2 lane stretch of the M11 from Bishops Stortford to the A14 every single day, without fail has its average speed reduced to 55mph all the way up from this. They put in signs telling lorry drivers they couldnt do it, do they pay any attention, do they f ..... I also enjoy people waving at me to slow down when Im doing 40 in a 40 and flashing me when Ive gone into their lane to overtake something and pulled back in 5 seconds before they have passed me. Oh, and people who have to wander over two lanes when negotiating a roundabout despite me being right beside them
  23. I was really impressed with my accountant's, dorve it a number of times and although it was a bit soft for my taste it was a great car - that engine is one of the best produced inthe last 15 years IMO. He bought it from new and had a lot of niggly faults which was disappointing though, I have to say
  24. Missed this first time round, Barrtech Ive not heard anything bad about and yes, they do really work on Ferraris Only other one Id really recommend is Ivan Barrett in Warboys, I must have been through about 8 independants now with my various cars and they all **** something up sooner or later Marshalls charged me for washer fluid last time I was in (I dont have a washer bottle), "tested" the aircon and told me it was working (air con wasnt working, but the light came on) and told me I needed to buy a new air flow meter for £500+ when actually I just needed the cassette part (at least £250 cheaper IIRC) and the car hand tbeen washed as promised - you *might* be able to do better ........
