Pressing the button turns the TC off which will allow you to drift as much as you like, but it doesnt turn off the stability control that will fire the front brakes if it thinks you are understeering. Not that big of an issue but annoying on track. Easiest way to sort it is to pull the three ABS plugs on the inside wing near the brake fluid reservoir, this will light up the TCS and SLIP lights on the speedo and means everything (including ABS) is turned off. To turn it back on just plug them back in again The more I think about it the more I reckon your problem is alignment, as others have said the RE050A is a damn good tyre and shouldnt be breaking traction on mild throttle, TBF it shouldnt really be doing it on full throttle ........
-
While bracing, ARB's and bushes are all worthwhile for sure, I found slapping a set of HSD coilovers on improved every aspect of the handling and ride straight off If you are finding the back end a bit wobbly with RE050A's at fairly low lateral force then Id be checking the alignment as well, they are usually pretty sticky TBF.
-
I really rate them and they will go way lower then you would ever need. Mine actually isnt much lower than standard, Polo will be running on his ass though
-
They are the best, but cost the actual earth to boot. I like my RE050's, Ill have a nearly new pair of 255 Vredes for sale before long as well.

Most I know with this kind of level of car have a Range Rover, big Merc or BMW (AMG or M if they like going fast). The one guy I do actually know with a 458 has a Maserati as his daily, but he also flies a giant prancing horse flag every time Ferrari get a podium in F1 so its not that surprising

Number86, spot on. It seems to be an issue that most forums suffer to varying extents, mainly as the majority of users dont have a range of experience - we used to have a similar thing on the 200SX board. Then as people started buying other cars after the 200, they started realising they arent the be all and end all, and that even scrabbly hatchbacks can be better.
-
Surely thats obvious though? People would buy a RWD sports coupe because they wanted one, not because they thought it was more fun than another car. For the money a zed costs that opens up a whole lot of other cars you could buy, and everyone has their own personal preferences as to what they like or find fun to drive. Read the start of this thread. The world and his wife cant see how a Megane is comparable to a 370. Its only after a few real life experiences that people start to admit that perhaps the scrabbly Renault is a good car and its taken 5 pages before anyone is accepting that its actually quicker in the dry as well. This is from a club of supposed afficianados who actually own one of the cars in question My last choices of cars were a 911, M3, GTR, Focus RS and Lexus IS-F, the only thing they have in common is the money they cost (roughly). Rather like our two here, actually Ive got a 306 GTI-6 and a 350. The 6 is more fun, safer to fling about and faster than the 350 on a wet track. On a dry track I doubt there would be much in it. I can fully accept that the Megane is quicker and more fun.

£230? I cant imagine they will be much cop for that, I take it youve seen Nissan prices for headlights ........
-
Cup brakes, KW Variant coilovers and you are away. The CSL is one of the best track cars there is.

Thats a beautiful eulogy, she sounds like a fine lady. So sorry for your loss.

Very nice but get that airbox cover off quick smart
-
If its cash then a tenner a wheel tops, or my average day out drifting would cost about £300 just to get the tyres fitted However, having recently had a super rare and super pricey VIP wheel damaged by a monkey fitter, I can see the other side of the coin too.

Prolly not a local, the food at Browns is rubbish

Cheers Mr Liz, good balanced post there and if I ever have the opportunity Id love a go in your Zed, racecars in my experience are different gravy. Im sure youd find my S13 pretty entertaining as well, it doesnt like going straight for very long at a time The point is that once youve spent the money on the 350Z to bring it up to spec you could have bought an NSX anyway, the same as £5K on my 306 would make it insanely good on track ......... if cost is no object then the RJN boys have shown that the 350 can be rather good but for me its nowhere near a first choice.
-
Clearly similar experience along the way then, Im with this 100% Apart from M3's being the ultimate Ringmeisters, obviously Evo's in my experience tend more to oversteer than Scoobs (again, experience, my brother has an FQ Evo8 and one of my Bezzy mates a Classic Impreza) and are more fun because of it, the S2K would be great fun too ....... and a friend of mine is selling this: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=503765 - funnily enough he is the guy with the charged MX5 I mentioned earlier
-
I didnt TBH, if I did Id ask why he seems to be so insistent that the Z33 is a great track car when a lot of people with experience of plenty of others dont agree. Surely youve driven plenty of other stuff Mr Liz, do you really rate the 350 that highly? In fairly standard form? If so Id be interested to know what you think its more fun than for future reference as well

A heavy landing with the wings full of fuel could over stress them, it's not just a weird excuse! Pffff next you'll be telling me they have to shut down wind turbines in high wind as they cant spin that quick ..... no wait I just always heard these quotes that the wings are so strong you could put twenty elephnats on each wing or something and they wouldnt break. I wonder what the greens think of that fuel 'usage' They bend upwards, not downwards usually TBH its pretty unsuual to fly round to lose fuel, there was obviously something a bit worrying going on Who you flying with, I might be supplying guys to them and can give them a ring and

OK, to be more specific I currently own a 350Z on coilovers with basic mods and brand new RE050A's, a standard MR2 Roadster, a heavily modified 400hp S13 200SX and a GTI-6 with a few choice mods. I just listed them in reverse "fun on track" order, the top three are interchangable depending on where you are driving The lap times dont make a blind bit of difference to the enjpoyment when you are out there. You could also buy the top three all together for less than Id sell the Zed for. Each to their own and all, the Zed is great, capable and rewarding and I loved taking it round Donington in the summer, but as someone with a fair amount of experience of a lot of different cars I wouldnt be recommending it as a track only car.
-
A friend of mine has a ~300hpo charged MX5 with sorted suspension, brakes and tyres and its astonishingly fast round a track. He reckons he could build me one for under £4K, having watched him chase an extremely well driven and set up 400hp 200SX round Donington without losing any ground and been out on hillclimbs with him I can tell you that any Zed this side of £10K isnt even in the same league.
-
And I think all of the other cars listed are better in some way, Ive tracked everything else (other than an FD) mentioned here - main reasons that they are lighter and faster which is kinda the point of a track car for me. I would love to take my MR2, 306 and Zed on track on the same day - I already know the other two are more fun and it wouldnt suprise me to find they are quicker too. Im perhaps a little biased, but you can easily find a decent condition track specced 350hp 200SX for £4K now, you dont have to do anything else and theres loads of room for wheels as well. Zeds are great and all, but they are GT cars, not track weapons IMO.
-
General advice ........ 1. No point in buying wheels and then continuing to use spacers. Get wheels that fit in the first place 2. 10J ET20 IMO isnt going to quite fill enough of the arch. 8.5 ET15 definitely isnt. 3. You wont need stretched tyres as you are staying well within the limits of "normal" fitment and are still running standard suspension 4. Look here: http://www.rimtuck.com/search/thumbnail ... meterr=19& Good luck
-
With others really, theres a lot of cars Id be looking at before a Zed - MX5, S2K, 200SX, GTI-6 (honest) The weight is always going to be an issue, and ergo so will the lack of power - Ive got a 200SX driftcar with top spec suspension, diff, wheels, mapping etc., knocking on 400hp and all told it cost me about £4500, my MR2 roadster I want to track as standard its that much fun If you love the Zed then go for it, Ill follow the thread avidly, but I think youll get a lot more bang for your buck looking elsewhere.
