No. I didnt actually think the 650hp 200SX I drove last year was too powerful either. Man up a bit. Or learn how to drift and have fun at lower speeds, though if you get caught doing that it may well be bye bye license ............

For drifting information I would recommend www.driftworks.com/forum - theres a few Italian guys on there as well, you might find someone fairly local to go mess about with -
standard configuration for D2 Racing suspension

ok... but for drift i can set hard the rear and the front most soft? the height most height in rear than front? or this is incorrect? Personally Id set the car flat, and would still start off fairly soft - you still want lots of grip, you dont want the car jumping about. I drift mine on 10/8 KG HSD's, set fairly soft with no preload and no droop and its awesome. -

Yes, in my exoperience the lower and harder you set them, the worse they get, not just for ride but also for bouncing all over the place. Try and use the most compliant setting that you can -
That was what I was talking about, and Im sorry for wasting your precious time with my completely pointless comment. I also apologise in advance for showing the OP can get Toluene here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/toluene-DIY-Too ... ene&page=1 and at most model shops. I still wouldnt use it myself though.
-
If you are really that worried (which I dont think you need to be at all) then Id consider buying some race fuel and putting that in instead, Toluene isnt entirely legal to pour straight into your fuel tank (nop duty ) so isnt that straightforward to get hold of - race fule is a lot more straightforward. If you want to siphon a tank then pull the fuel hose off the engine and do it from that end instead would be my advice EDIT: Actually, ignore my advice, its obviously pointless as Sasha says. Let just stick with the findings of Karl Benz, his car worked pretty good and stuff. Who comes on here to find stuff out anyway, everyone knows engines run on magic pixie dust and fairy glitter, whats the point in getting technical about anything.
-
I know exactly where you are coming from and the advice is spot on, Im not arguing that at all - its just people like slimjim will take that on board and start siphoning tanks and buying toluene when they dont have to. I have a heavily modified turbo car that was live mapped on 97 RON, Id still put 95 RON in it if I had to, I just wouldnt push it quite as hard and turbos are 10 times more susceptible to det than NA is. I know, Ive been through enough engines Predetonation/knock/pinking/pinging, a thorn by any other name ...........

Hi Tsuchiya, didnt know you rocked a 350Z Ive had D2's on other cars, and found the best place for them is the garbage really ........... Id looking to set them as high as you can bear with minimal preload/droop top try get the best out of them. -
I know you know the cars and this site well, but do you actually understand where and why the damage occurs? Any damage caused will be through predetonation, and will be be to pistons/big end shells generally and if that happened every time you filled up with 95RON and went over 5K then you wouldnt see the bottom of the first tank, you probably wouldnt get 5 miles down the road. The bottom line of it is that det is more likely to occur when using 95RON as the car is mapped to use a higher octane, notice "more likely" rather than "WILL". Id agree that you are foolish not to put Super in as thats whats recommended, but telling people that engine damage will definitely occur isnt correct. Ask Mark from Abbey.

RE050's on the front, FK452's on the back. Place your bets, which end will go first Anyway, we really need to stop the mixed tyres one before Ekona gets here

Do you have a number for Ghostbusters? Always banging on with that slogan about WHO to call, never actually tell you HOW to call ...........

SRSLY?? Thats not "slippy", thats on a bloody ice rink! Whatever, Im getting bored of this now. If you are trying to tell me that a Land Rover on any tyres, on the road travelling at 60mph will grip where a 350Z with Falkens and RE050's doesnt, in anything other than the harshest conditions then Im afraid I dont accept it. If I was following a Land Rover or any kind of 4x4 and my Zed started sliding off the road where their car didnt, Id stop immediately as something is clearly wrong. This reminds me of the time I was saying that mixed tyres dont make you slide into ditches themselves as you actually drive to the grip thats available - IIRC I was told that was wrong, but then on this thread: Wont you look at that!

Pretty sure it is man, theres no additional wind noise generally speaking, its only when going right/over bumps. Dave - that was my first thought, that it was just the switch but the increased wind noise when its "open" suggest there is something moving, albeit only a tiny amount. If I cant push the door open from the inside Im not too worried TBH, its just frustrating
-
VDC only kicks in when it detects the symptoms of understeer. This means its not down to a heavy right foot, that would have set off the TCS and cut drive to the back wheels, not fired the brakes on the front. In my experience it would have come from liftoff oversteer halfway round the corner or going into the corner too fast in the first place, both of which are unlikely if you are following a Land Rover.
-
Round a 60mph bend though? I know my car pretty well but if the VDC started kicking in following any 4x4 at below the speed limit then Id be thinking something was up too ............ If I hadnt experienced the VDC before (which you can tell he hadnt) then Id probably include the Landy in the story too, to show I wasnt going that fast. As everyone immediately accused him of doing.

Well, not quite but ............. Noticed it about 3/4 months ago, the interior light would flash on when going round right handers. Figured out it was the door opening slightly, didnt worry about it too much as it went away. Unfortunately it then came back and now you can hear a very slight click, then interior light and door open light on dash come on - usually does it on right handers but can do it on bumpy roads at speed as well, it can either be "open" for 10/15 seconds or it goes from open to closed quickly. Pulling the door inwards while driving fixes it, sometimes for a few days, sometimes for only 5 minutes. Im not concerned as the car has done two hard trackdays at Donington and Bedford without the door physically opening, and if I sit inside I cant push it open or anything but the lights are annoying and the seal with the outside world is lost so theres a little bit of additional wind noise when its "open". Anyone any ideas on how to sort it?

Fair one Just thought I'd say though, you missed an apostrophe out there docwra. Runs and hides Its a style thing, I dont use them myself Maybe Im just shaping for a here, but I have noticed a slightly "superior" attitude to anyone who isnt coming from a £10K+ car - its nowhere near as bad as Pistonheads (I dont actually go on there anymore because of the users that think they are better than everyone) but worse than somewhere like SXOC (where since drifting got famous we have already watched our cars become the chavs choice of showoff car already) You are going to see a lot more guys coming in without RWD experience, sometimes with limited experience of cars at all and tempting as it might be to shoot them down in flames most times its better to educate than to berate The busyness of the Welcome forum shows this place has a hell of a future in store, Im just pointing out that not everyon who misses a comma here and there is automaticaly a chav
-
Yes ......... if you arent driving it for the performance then you are better off buying a Primera, surely. and if Im wrong, why does this site condemn everyone to the 7th pit of hell for running mismatched tyres?
-
If that's the 'new kind of owner' then god help us all Youve never had the TCS/VDC cut in on the road? Maybe you should consider something cheaper to run, like a Micra then. I know not everyone is a mad speed bastard like me, but come on, whats the point of having a 350 and then driving like Miss Daisy everywhere?
-
It wasnt the ABS, it was the VDC which can come on for a variety of reasons. He was following a Land Rover, do you think a Zed should be able to go round corners at the same speed as a Land Rover without the stability control coming on? I do, but again, what do I know, Im probably one of the "new kind" of owner though. Theres no need to be supercilious and patronising here, its not like hes asking the best way to streetrace at McDonalds.
-
Oh, sorry, must be me reading it totally wrong then. Do me a favour, this is the typical "Im better than a Saxo/Clio/Corsa" owner rubbish, at least be honest about it. The new kind of owner is obviously one that doesnt use commas, because I can understand the words just fine - pull the other one.
-
Bollocks, word confusion issues. I didnt mean forged, I mean cast, Ive had this discussion with Ben a few times. How embarrassing.
-
So is your spelling. Beware the irony trap I think people are being a bit harsh on the bloke TBH. He has asked a perfectly reasonable question (why did my car start braking for me), if I didnt know about the VDC then Id be surprised too. The fact it kicked in doesnt necessarily mean he was driving too fast - if he was following a Landy its pretty clear he wasnt, maybe he hit wet leaves, patch of diesel, whatever - I know mine has been known to come in without me driving like a tool. As it happens Ive actually got my ABS, VDC and TCS all turned off at the moment and probably will leave it like that until the missus drives the car again, I found it infinitely safer, more predictable and more controlable at Bedford Autodrome like this the other day. Am I driving god? I dont think so. The mixed tyre explanation from some shows how people will repeat a response, parrot style without even thinking about it as well, its not mixed tyres causing this issue. Unless mixing your tyres suddenly gives you less grip than a Land Rover, and I dont think it does. Finally, as for this comment: You drive a sub 10K Nissan thats probably your pride and joy, how does that give you the right to look down on others like you are in line for the throne or something? Are the "old kind" of owners rich aristocracy who never exceed a speed limit and all have Le Mans titles under their belts? I dont think so, so stop acting like you are better than this guy. The guy has asked a genuine question, OK, maybe it could have been worded better but Im actually a bit ashamed to have anything to do with this place after some of the answers.

All Rotas are forged, and on weight they are comparable with a lot of aftermarket wheels too. The GTR-D isnt a copy of another design and is still cheap as chips too

Buy an Integrale. Missus will probably hate it, but its practical and has good heaters at least
