According to the Calibre Coachworks website, that was a Max Power 350Z. Ooooh.

I think its probably a greater issue for the JDM's as they are originally mapped to use 100 RON. 95 RON might not kill a perfectly working engine, but any issue with the MAF, inlet air leaks or similar are going to be a lot more likely to cause damage than if you were on Super. Its a much bigger issue on FI engines, Ive driven a standard Evo that was detting its tits off on 95 RON (the guy in the garage didnt even realise) but even with NA I wouldnt risk it myself.

Thats not really anything special TBH - I used to be a test engineer for a company that specialised in raytraced CGI images, we did the whole Jaguar X Type press launch with pics and vids of all of the cars going through puddles, under moody lights, cutaways etc. without anyone realising the car hadnt been made yet. Cant find any of the old images but these arent too bad: All 100% graphics

Strongly recommend Wheel Genie in Huntingdon, astonishingly good and not scared of anything

Archenemy are mates of mine, they will travel to you and Id recommend them. Z33 arches arent the easiest do roll, and the rolling itself is a bit of an art - not saying you cant do them yourself but Id have one of the Archenemy guys come out if it was me. Which it has been

MX5 is a good shout, 200SX's are good too as they are always freakin broken.

OK, put it this way - Ive currently got HKS Hipermax II on an S13 200SX, HSD's on my 350Z and Cusco fronts, Tein rears on another S13. Ive driven cars (mostly 200's) on road and track with D2, Tein, HSD, Meister R, Cusco (95% sure ), Boge, Apex Gen I, Apex Gen II and Daiyama coilovers. None of them short of the HKS have impressed me like the HSD's, and the HKS went straight onto a track car, the HSD's are better on the road. Anything other than D2's are an improvement, but the HSD's are unbeatable for the money IMO.

Because they run <35mm ground clearance, which generally goes hand in hand with more aggressive wheel fitment. Its that easy. UK version of above: (OK, its US as well but you get what I mean)

Theres actually a very good one just down the road from Barneys, which you also mention

I believe my HSD's are 14/7 and as I say, they are a perfect compromise for me - I should add Ive driven lots of other cars with coilovers (I own 3 others at the moment) but unfortunately dont have experience of other coilovers on a 350Z. Damping is adjustable (mine is at 50% and is fine) and its worth taking the wheels off and giving them a decent clean and grease once or twice a year if you dont want them to seize. I cant recommend them enough, a few recent track excursions have confirmed that they are very good. Talk to my good friends at Driftworks: http://www.driftworks.com/shop/hsd-hr-c ... z-z33.html

Moeders is a cracking good restaurant, if you are into your beer there are loads of brown bars that are cool too http://www.dutchamsterdam.nl/147-amsterdams-brown-cafes Ive been over loads of times, usually just hit the cafes but did the bars last time, it was excellent

Private jet is always quicker, why do you think people use them? Turn up 10 minutes before you need to take off, get off straight into a car as opposed to get there at least an hour before, then youve got immigration on the way out, poncing around getting on the plane, missing a take off slot, getting off the plane at the other end, big old line at immigration, waiting for your luggage, queueing for a taxi. Plus the fact you can actually work on the flight and arrive relaxed, rather than head ringing from a screaming baby, and thats before you get to the fact you can take off and land when it suits you, not when it suits Stavros. Its the future, Ive seen it

When I was looking, I found the aftermarket stuff came in at a lot cheaper than OE anyway - I remember one repair quote of £13K from an insurer that actually got done for less than £6K. Might be worth looking into decent quality aftermarket rather than OE, they would both need spraying anyway
-
Drift the next roundabout, then stop so they can have their picture taken with me.
-
Actually, where are you?
-
Thats cheap, very rare and gorgeous wheels them. I have a set myself
-
Aye, thats kinda exactly what I said mate It is the point though, what suits one driver isnt necessarily going to be right for another, you are always compromising between ultimate grip and stability when playing with alignment. Try something thats not too agressive, if you get on with it then try going more agressive until you find your sweet spot

Can you fit skis in a 350Z? I doubt it TBH, same for the S2K as well (although I spose you could put the roof down and have them sticking out the top)

Bank holiday competition - guess the weight

So did he TBH, I was really surprised, I think Id started to believe some of the hype that the car wasnt that fast and was too heavy etc. but the way we kept with/went past well driven cars that on paper should have been quicker thats well off the mark. That said, I was having a chat with Steve, a drifter mate of mine last night and we agreed that the experience we have had of cars effectively being out of control, and the inevitable lots of crashing that comes after being out of control means we are probably more comfortable pushing hard than an average trackdayer, and a lot less scared of stacking it, maybe thats where the difference came. Theres no way I should be going past a 997 GT3, no way on earth. One thing I will say is that on the limit a 350Z is one of the easiest cars Ive driven to handle, its like its talking to you all the time He highlighted this with a story about the last time he was at the Ring - the hotel owner was an ex bike racer, and offered to let him follow him to the track. Within about 2 miles Steve had lost the hotelier guy, as he was so much quicker. Steve was on his own in an M5, old matey was 5 up in a 1.3 Polo That day was £99 through Javelin, unfortunately they dont have any more available at the moment for Bedford but Im up for doing more this summer anywhere (drift car is being fixed AGAIN), hopefully we can get a few more Zeds out on track and eat up a few more M3's next time.

When I was a young man, all the girls wanted an older feller with money and a nice car. Now Im older, with money and a nice car, they all seem to be after Emo dropouts who ride the bus. Dammit.

Good point, well made trackpig. Theres a little too much "I know better than everyone so ignore them" around these parts sometimes.
-
That front fitment is spot on, I dont actually recognise what you have on the rear as stretch personally ......... but then I run 225 on 10J's As for the "its dangerous/car wont handle/looks rubbish" brigade, I wouldnt worry too much, if was any of those things people wouldbnt bother, would they?
-
Maximum traction would be about 4 degrees of toe in for a start, not sure Id want to run that on the road though What are you looking to do with the car - mainly track, mainly road, bit of both? Id probably advise running 0 toe front and back, -1 deg front camber, -1 degs rear camber to start with and see how you get on - that said Ive read that you can go very camberous on the front and little on the back for uber grip and better straightline stability but I guess its a matter of taste. I wouldnt advise changing caster from original settings but again its up to you. Some people like a car that fidgets about like an eel plugged into the mains, others prefer it dead straight. Likewise with the toe, I like a bit of toe out on the rear personally but it does make the car feel more nervous. TBH your best bet might just be to take it to someone who knows what they are doing, tell them how you want the car to handle and let them do their magic.

Bit of a slow one today so thought Id throw up a writeup on a trackday I went to at Bedford Autodrome on 26/03. I headed up with a few boys from the SXOC, and was pleased to see it was a b-e-a-u-tiful day when we set out about 7.30 - convoyed up there with a 400hp S14 but was generally well behaved on the way up. Unfortunately satnav took us to the wrong side of the airfield so we missed the briefing - no worries, we got to see some of the iron that was out there with us, including a couple of Ariel Atoms, an XKR, a GT3, a very new looking GTR, Cobra rep with an LS7 fitted, loads of E46 M3's, Elises and Clio's, some pretty ordinary Euroboxes (3.2 A3, Seat Leons etc.) and a few weird ones like a Radical, and some full on Can Am Lola that broke after two laps or so Was pleased to see the lovely Jez from Horsham Developments was there in his 350Z, and also a former SXOC member with a very high specced S14 that I was looking forward to chasing. Heres a pic of our little gang, one of the Clios dropped its bottom end on the first lap and the S14 got black flagged for noise after 3, other than that all of the cars were excellent. The track is suited to a 350Z - quite fast, lots of 3/4th gear sweepers and only 3 slow corners, even they can be taken in 3rd though. My car was absolutely awesome all day - the grip was astonishing, a couple of passengers got out with painful necks and it didnt miss a beat all day. The 350's certainly seemed amongst the quickest cars out there - I had the GT3 pull over for me fairly early on, and after letting the GTR past he let me back past after 4 corners, not sure the driver was too familiar with it. We also proved that a stripped Z33 with Uprev is only very, very slightly faster in a straight line than one with huge arches, standard management and a full interior with nothing in it on the bends, although Jez's "interesting" technique on the chicane down the straight (i.e. missing it out completely and going off road) defintiely proved the fastest line Anyway, heres a vid - Im in the blue Zed, Jez is in the grey Zed and the camera car is a Mk2 turbo MX-5 running a bit over 300hp - he beat an F430 round the Nurburgring yesterday so Im quite pleased he couldnt quite keep up http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... mItOTxtcwE
