Repaired tyres are not better than new ones, I dont care what the name on the side is. Crap wheels with good tyres are a good way of saving money though, theres even a chap selling a set of Rays with RE040's on here at the moment as it happens
-
Would strongly advise against Paisley, heard many horror stories about them.
-
Dont ever buy anything from Nissan and dont ever get them to fit anything unless you like spending money. TBH, clutch change on any RWD car is pretty straightforward, Mr Clutch could do it but Id see if there is anyone who knows 350Z's in your area first, I dont think it would cost any different and you would have a bit of peace of mind
-
Im with Mike, sounds like the MAF sensor is on its way out - if the car wont rev over 4K then its almost certainly in "limphome" mode as it cant meter the air its breathing. A new MAF sensor is about £600 from Nissan but after buying one I found out that there is actually a cassette type thing that slides in thats much cheaper, even more so if you You can replace it yourself in about 3 minutes too
-
BUY BUY BUY. Thats a steal mate, do it quick before you think about the fuel too much
-
You need to research your Mercs a bit more, the numbers on the back arent any indication of what they can do To give you an idea (and I havent just done this from memory BTW), in the W215 (00-06) CL's, the CL500 had a 5.0 engine, but the CL600, facelift CL600, CL55 AMG and facelift CL55 AMG all have varying power 5.5 litre lumps. There was also a CLK55 AMG available until 02, after 02 there was a CLK 500, a CLK55 AMG and a CLK63 AMG which were totally different again. Power was anything from 300hp up to 493hp in these cars apparently. Jesus.

As above, with your own booze serving bars, toilets and cover from the rain? Thats not rubbish mate, thats the pleasure of being one of 1500 odd people who are standing in front of 78,000 who wish they had those tickets too. Definitely, definitely worthwhile IMO, more so than VIP at a "normal" venue
-
Depends on what level of VIP and what the venue is TBH .......... if you dont get free food and drink then I doubt you would get backstage, however backstage isnt really where you want to watch from anyway, sound is invariably rubbish there. Gold circle at places like Hyde Park and Knebworth are good as they stick you in front of the "normal" crowd, usually with your own bars and toilets, other places Ive been its varied from a different set of bogs .......... and thats it up to unlimited food and drink, meet the performers after the show, personal barman, free souveniers etc.
-
Try ......... nope. From D2's own instructions: All D2 products are used for racing cars, vehicles operating on non-normal road conditions and also vehicles for demonstration purpose. D2’s products should not be used in vehicles operating on normal road conditions. This product can only be fitted in a racing car or a car for demonstration and other vehicles fitted with special equipment and is not suitable for driving on normal road conditions. This product is not permitted to be fitted in vehicles operating on normal roads. This was all from the Swedish D2 site but you can bet it holds true for UK as well. Very, very few aftermarket parts are actually fully tested and declared totally safe by an independant body, the only one I know of that you see much is the German TuV - although there are apparently BS standards as well Im certainly not familiar with them. It means that pretty much anyone can start banging out parts as long as they say its "not for road use" and not have any comebacks. Scary huh ??

+1. Dire fuel economy??? getting 2-3 mpg less than 350z.... Dont tell me you actually believe those bullshit economy figures? How is a 5.0 V12 pulling around 2000KG going to get consumption anything like a 3.5 V6 pulling 1500? Trust me, 6 series are a scary prospect at the pumps, my old 740i used to use about 35% more fuel than the Zed and that was taking it easy.
-
Youve asked for opinions ........ this backs up comments Ive made elsewhere on here, that cheap wheels will always look cheap. Having them this big (although I am surprised that they look to fit OK) will just draw more attention to them.
-
Excellent, sounds like they might put their hands up. A bit of free labour and you are well within fixing territory
-
The way the car goes is very reminiscent of what mine did, lets just say my left rear tyre wasnt in the best condition at the time either Theres probably not much you could have done, with hindsight dipping the clutch might have pulled you out of it but hindsight is a wonderful thing
-
The other thing Id say is unless its going to be track only (i.e. trailered to events) or competed in, leave a bit of interior and all the soundproofing in it. The comfort loss isnt worth losing 100KG IMO.
-
LOL, good post Ricey. Dont agree with much of it, but good nonetheless
-
ESP was off, and how much heat do you think I put into the tyres when drifting? Not had any blowouts as yet ....... This theory might be right but I know my approach to it would be "@*!# happens" and not try to go all CSI on trying to find something to blame. I think Steve knows Im not pointing any fingers here but this place can come across as overly nannying sometimes, the "what if" factor seems to scare people on here a lot more than it does on the other boards I use
-
You know, its comments like this that make this place look a bit strange to the casual observer. The tyre hasnt failed because its been fitted to a different sized rim, its ridiculous to suggest it was. And no doubt going to get flamed for this, but even a 245 on one side and a 225 on the other cant cause an accident - it can unbalance the car but its still the driver that puts it into a wall. Mechanical failure of a component or oil on the track can be blamed, but even then no-one is going to pay you out because you stoved it up, differing grip levels from side to side isnt going anywhere in a court.
-
I cant see youve got a case either, if the tyres were incorrectly inflated you wouldnt be looking to go legal, its along the same lines. You as the driver have a responsibility to check the car is right ......... and Im afraid I dont think youve got a very strong argument anyway. If it punted you off the road within 5 minutes of picking it up[ thats one thing, halfway through a trackday is another entirely Its not like they put your brakes in back to front, I think people are getting a little hysterical here.
-
Totally agree, me and him up there had great fun going past most everything at Bedford a while ago. I really dont know where this image of them not being that fast comes from, they handle really nicely and are so communicative that you can spank them round a track and surprise a lot of "faster" cars Coilovers and tyres and as much power out of the engine as possible and you are good to go IMO.
-
lolwut It's no more dangerous than any other car ever made in the entire world in standing water. If you're running the OEM A048s then you need to be a bit careful, but that's just common sense and equally applies to folks running R888s on their Zeds. I never had a single issue with the VXR220 on 48s ever. Also it doesn't have VTEC, it has VVTLi VVTLi kicked in yooooo! Doesnt sound quite the same though, does it I disagree with Ekona on the tyres thing TBH, I found my old S13 on DO1J's was @*!# scary in the wet and Id struggle to do more than 30mph without it aquaplaning, my good friend Bind tells me his Exige is the same. Could be him being a poove, could be geometry, could be anything, Im just telling you what he told me.
-
One of me bezzy mates has an Exige and really likes it .......... and he drives like a bit of a girl and still hasnt taken it on track in over year, if he likes it then youd love it I expect Only real issues are that its posivitely dangerous in standing water, the heater needs sorting if it hasnt been done already and its an expensive ballache and hes scared to park it anywhere in case it gets damaged This is outweighed by the awesome handling, incredible noise when VTEC kicks in yo! and people taking pictures of it everywhere he goes

Eagle F1s have been known to delaminate like that too.

It will be the same guys, yes. Who was instructing you BBK? -
Might be a bit late, but the verdict from my friend out there was "If he is a decent estate agent and knows what he is doing then he WILL make money out here" Meet you for a beer when Im next visiting then?
-
Im annoyed, I cant find any pictures of me shooting sparks from my tyres but its not unusual, you arent doing it right unless you blow a tyre Heres my good friend Lex doing the same at Santa Pod though:
