  1. Why have Ekona and I suddenly started agreeing all the frickin time? This is no fun.
  2. Hang on a second, a 350Z is only 1 second slower than am Exige S round the Nurburgring? I call bollocks, no way in hell - track tyres, much better power to weight but more than that an Exige S is a track car with numberplates, not an overweight GT thing
  3. Having recently returned from Anglesey where we drove "spiritedly" on the way there and then on track as well, youre right, not a great deal at all. The supercharged MX5 was surprisingly similar as well
  4. TBH, I still think its rough - I have video footage somewhere of me drifting at Santa Pod. I spin, and as you do stop the well off line and wait for a chance to rejoin. I notice a Skyline about 300 yards away heading towards me, and then watch in amazement as he goes straight into and over my (stationery) bonnet, bending various parts of the car up in the process. He then jumps out, calls it a "racing incident" says "@*!# happens" and heads off on his merry way. Sure, I was pi**ed off but thats what happens when you go out on track, if it goes wrong then its going to cost you whether its your fault or not. Ive since seen the same or similar things happen at least 3/4 times, writing cars off on a coupl eof them but who decides where the line is drawn between "negligent" and "accidental"?
  5. It does, but anyway .......... I nearly bought an S2K when I got the Zed, my brother did buy one a few months later so Ive got plenty of back to back experience. Tghe S2K at maximum attack is a superb car, but can be a little too much effort to drive the rest of the time, particularly on a commute or somewhere where you arent going to be able to open it up, but this means its probably the better weekend car. So, long story short, if you have a racetrack on your way to work go S2K, if you dont then go for the Zed, both are extremely good cars
  6. Do you walk round every day with your eyes closed? Attractive young ladies are used to sell everything from perfume to supermarkets, and moreso when the product is aimed at men, its been happening for over 60 years. No-one forced them to do that, in fact they are probably chuffed that they got 3 shifts worth of working in a supermarket's money for wandering about for a few hours in lycra. I cant imagine what your reaction is to the womens magazines showing celebrities in bikinis on the covers and TV like Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.

A speedo that reads 4% out isnt a major issue for me TBH, and while the TCS may be affected thats a very 350Z specific problem, all I was saying is that generally speaking tyre profiles have very little effect on ride quality
  8. Anything will fit if you try hard enough, but theres no way in hell you would get brakes under 8J - ET43 without spacers, I reckon you would need at least another 25mm on the arch as well. 10 ET6 is easy, almost goes under a standard arch. BTW, I run 10 ET -43 on the front of my car, it can be done

What? Where does it say the tyre profile has to be lower if the wheel is bigger? The profile on a 245/40/19 is exactly the same as on a 245/40/18 and anyway if youre relying on your tyres for damping then youve got suspension issues that probably need sorting first The tyre construction will have more to do with it anyway, a soft 35 is going to be more compliant than a hard 40 anyway. 19's are more expensive though, thats a painful truth unfortunately
  10. The idea behind limpmode is to stop the engine damaging itself - the old classic is when the air flow meter breaks, the car cant tell how much air its sucking in so it goes to a mega rich map and limits revs to avoid damage from detonation. You can still drive it, just as cs2000 says its not an enjoyable experience. BTW, the rev limiter thing is only for the shift light, it doesnt actually move the rev limit
  11. Superclarkey was selling a rotisserie thing a while back, might be worth a go
  12. Hang on a second here mate, I think yer man has been done a proper favour by the people questioning the details - you might see forged engine builds and uprated cams every day of the week but I doubt it, its worth asking the question. Now theres a lot more information here, including a remap, a dyno graph and some impressive figures. Sometimes asking questions is perfectly reasonable, the car is 100% more saleable now IMO because people, including me, did exactly that.
  13. But I did, and took them back off again, car had been aligned as well. Now running 25mm spacers all round with stupid wheels and its fine again, weird.
  14. Dont sweat it, the day after driving a 997C2S and a spanking new IS-F I was refused test drives in Focus RS's, twice. Car dealers are tools, generally speaking I know a guy who is a helicopter salesman, at a show told a scruffily dressed guy to get of his stand as it was for potential customers only. Said guy then walked onto the stand next door and after 1/2 hour had dropped just over £8m ordering two helicopters to add to his fleet
  15. Ive got RE050A's, the letter doesnt matter a great deal TBH as it refer to the speed rating, as long as youve got V, W, Y, Z then youre fine. Dont confuse them with Bridgestone RE040's, which 350Z's used to come with and I had changed within 500 miles, they not so good. Are they not pretty terrifying in standing water and even worse on cold roads though? I mean, Federal RS-R and Toyo 888 are the testes on a track but I wouldnt run them through winter, Ive tried with DO-1J's and 888's and having to stick to 25mph or start spinning isnt my idea of fun
  16. Very nice, who did that then - Hux or Nick?? You working on a timescale here mate, is this a 2014 BDC build or are you hoping to have it rocking sooner?
  17. With respect, its very unlikely it was the filter itself causing the problem and far more likely a dirty sensor, you should see some of the filters Ive seen being run on driftcars Limp mode is a lot more distinct than a bit of a misfire, it wont allow the car to rev past 3500 from memory and drains all of the power, if the engine felt like it was running lumpy then I agree with others, and would go further and suggest a dodgy coilpack, if it comes back then try disconnecting the coilpack leads in turn to see if they make any difference - if theres no change then theres something wrong with that plug/coilpack./lead
  18. In my experience Michelin > Bridgestone (Im running them) > Pirelli > Contis Weirdly hensh65 is the second person on here recently saying they dont rate the Bridgies, that suprises me as I personally think they are very good indeed, and Ive used more tyres than most If you want cheaper then Vredestein and Falkens are worth a look
  19. Aye, sorry to hear this, best wishes for a speedy recovery on behalf of SXOC as well as me personally.

    Ideal fitment?

Best bet to avoid VDC issues = disable that bad boy. If you ant really nice fitment then Id take what Kyle has said and add 10mm all round, but youll need to get your arches rolled first
  21. Anyway, enough of this, I quite fancy a Cayman R so Im going to have a nice cup of cocoa, go to sleep and hopefully by the time I wake up Ill have dreamed everything I need to know about it so can save time on a test drive. Night night.
  22. I couldnt disagree with you any more on the GT86 or BRZ, Dude, hes driven them, you havent. EDIT: And having driven an RS Megane, I think you might want to try one of them as well before making sweeping statements.
  23. The 64GB iPhone 5s is over £700 .......... Usual Apple bollocks for me, how having a plastic back is a "feature" Ill never know. They are chasing the game now and they know it, more and more people are looking elsewhere as they realise that iProducts are more and more fulfilling the saying "Yesterdays technology at todays prices" ..........
  24. The difference in weight between the Mr2 and GTI-6 and 200SX and 350Z is less than between a GT86 and and a 370Z. Anyway, the point was that its not about numbers, its about how the car drives.
