  1. So i managed to fit my motorised number plate holder yesterday. Very happy with it. (Cheers Tarmac ). Guide to be added shortly but his a quick video for now: Okay here's the guide. To be honest it's a custom job to fit this rather than a direct bolt-on. It took me about 4-5 hours to fit but i was taking my time. Tools needed: Angle Grinder 10mm socket Screwdrivers Drill Metal drill bit Jigsaw Additional Materials: Metal bracketing Self tapping screws Small nuts and bolts. Pro-tip: Use an electric drill battery to operate the plate holder when fitting, before you've wired it up. First things first... with the bumper still on decide, where you want the plate to sit. With the Nismo bumper my only option was to have it sit in the lower opening. I made a note of the approximate height off the ground that this would sit. Next you need to remove the front bumper. This is an easy task and you can follow one of the guides from on here. I've done this countless times before and it can be done in around 15 minutes. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/48292-face-off-front-bumper-removal/page__hl__%2Bbumper+%2Bremoval After this you must decide what to mount the number plate on. Our best option on the zed is to use the large crash bar and suspend it from brackets to the height we need. Out of the box it comes with only 1 metal bracket but we need more than this, so i picked up an extra bracket from Wickes for £1.18. I cut this in half using the angle grinder. http://www.wickes.co.uk/content/ebiz/wickes/invt/156722/Herringbone-Joist-Strut_large.jpg The next step is to work out how long i need the brackets to be. Using some cardboard taped to the crash bar, I offered up the plate holder to the approx height from the floor measured earlier (11.5" in my case) and then cut the cardboard to the length required. And then using this i had a template for the length of my brackets. I measured the center point on the crash bar using the tow hole as the center line and then attached the rear hanger which i bent to shape using the self tapping screws that i'd bought separately. After this I mounted the plate holder on the rear bracket and worked out the height of the front brackets. I used he two halves of the bracket i'd purchased separately and bent them to shape. Note that they're only mounted half way up the crash bar - when the polystyrene filler is fitted it sits flush against the top half of the crash barrier. This stage takes the longest to do as you must use a spirit level to ensure it's level in all directions. I also replaced the bumper on the car several times to ensure the positioning was correct. Notice that i also cut out a piece from each bracket to make sure the towing eye can still be fitted. (I did straighten the plate holder up before i firmly attached everything!) After this i refitted my bumper mesh and cut a hole the width of my plate using snips. Now the final stage before fitting the bumper is to wire it up. This is very simple and only needs connecting to the positive and negative terminals on the battery. I routed the cables down the left hand side of the engine bay and under the passenger headlight. I used number plate tape to secure the control unit to the back side of the crash bar. After this, give it a quick test to make sure it's working, and then refit the bumper. The final stage was to cut the holder down to size. I did this whilst it was mounted on the car using a Jigsaw, and a dremmel to tidy it up. I'd had enough by this point so rushed it. The final step then was to secure my plate using number plate tape. And job done.
  2. Search for Greekman's clutch issues on here... he's gone through about 4 master/slave replacements on the HR i believe. He may have ended up with some uprated parts from ZMANALEX in the end to stop the problem. I might be making that up but thats what i'd be searching for if it were my car.
  3. Shiiiiit. So i drove a colleague's Range Rover Sport today and it's a game changer.... i need one.
  4. Leads put back on the plugs in the wrong order.

  6. Sorry guys i didnt get to fit this last week as the weather was a bit crappy, but i will definitely be fitting it this weekend. Having had a look through my bumper it's looking like i'll need to drill into the crash bar behind the bumper and add in some additional bracketing to get it to the right height. It comes with one strip of lightweight bracket and im not sure this will be enough, so i might need to get an extra bit from B&Q to secure it. We'll see....
  7. Ticket/passes to stand posted session info picked up on day If you bother to look at post 379 you will see you are in the 2pm session Ok fair one, but mods/martin it might be worth having a locked thread with just this kind of pertinent information in it, as this info is 60-odd posts back from here and i dip into this thread every time i see it.
  8. f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ckf*ck
  9. I've watched a lot of air crashes online, but that is probably the most chilling one i've ever seen. It literally just dropped out of the sky.
  10. Sorry but between the PM and the posts on here im not clear on what to expect I have track time booked. Will i be receiving the required docs for this in the post or am i collecting it on the day. Secondly please can i be put into the 2pm session if not already done so... i'll have been on the road since 3.30am the night before so im hoping to get away by 4pm in the afternoon. Cheers.
  11. Good shout. I remember last year there being talk of them stopping people with non-standard number plates so i fitted my stock one for the drive in and drive out.
  12. We were supposed to do the Staropramen brewery tour which is in Prague... but it was a 45 minute trip to get there for a 30minute tour so didnt bother.
  13. Dont change money befor eyou go, you will get spanked on the exchange rate. Just use a cash machine over there you get a much better deal, and yo uonly get charged £1.75 in fees per withdrawal. In the UK i only got 25.5 exchange rate, but out of the cash machines i got 29.3! Pints... anywhere on the main roads is £3.50 per pint (99k) but find some more authentic places off the main streets and you can get beer for 90p a pint. the standard drink over there is Pilsner Urquell, which is a dreadful watered down lager... but we drank enough of it!
  14. Is it just sandpaper and paint, or do you get some kind of filler with it too?
  15. I think you can do this as an experience day nowadays, kind of like the red letter day things.
  16. Ah Jay i went last weekend and all i can say is it was totally awesome!!!! One of the best weekends i've had in a long time. A few of the guys went to the strip clubs and sex shows etc, but i didnt fancy any of that so didnt bother. It's pretty hard to avoid though... as soon as it goes dark there will be 10 black guys fighting each other to get you to come to the strip club they're promoting. Friday and Saturday are big nights but Sunday is dead in town. Also whilst there i found the coolest bar i have ever been in. It's about a 10 minute walk from the center and kind of isolated in it's locatioin but it was a great place. We were looking for a sports bar called The Drunken Monkey but we got to the address and it wasnt there. So we went into the only bar on the street and a few of the guys were panicking as it was a proper back alley place, down in a basement. However once in there i got talking with the owner who was a guy called Jason from California... this guy was awesome! He told me the story of how he used to work for the Drunken Monkey and the owners went to prison so he took on their lease, but a few days earlier they'd got out and come after him and beat him up, and wrecked the bar a bit! Anyway, this guy's passion is Beer Pong so he sets us up on his beer pong tables and we ended up staying in there for 3 hours playing it... it's an ace game! Then for me as if this bar couldnt get any cooler i said to Jason... 'can i smell weed?' and he was like, 'Oh yeah, just go and speak to Mark the weed guy over there he'll sort you out'... brilliant! Music-wise it wasnt really my scene but it added to the over all effect - it was all Nirvana and ACDC and Foo Fighters etc. Loved it. Anyway this place was called Balls Deep in Prague... https://www.facebook...BALLSDEEPinPrag Other than that, it seems the main night club centrally is a crappy 80's/90's disco place called LaCerna. We went there on the Friday and it was alright, but then Saturday everywhere we asked still recommended the same place which was pretty lame. We went back but nobody was happy about it. Avoid if you can. Lastly we were recommended to go to another bar on the Sunday called Harley's bar. This was a bit of a biker bar but with a cool vibe. Slightly gay though too which was odd, but cool all the same. Food wise we mostly had burgers/kebabs etc, but one night we went to an all you can eat and drink Argentinian steak house for £20 a head. Really good quality meat and you get 3 hours in there so it worked out to be good value. I forget what it's called though.
  17. I'd really like an LPG, but at £2k to get fitted that's a big investment on a 100k plus car, and would take me 2 or 3 years to get it to pay for itself. In terms of buying an already LPG'd car, these seem to be £1500 dearer and i'd always be nervous about it.
  18. You're not helping!! I'd have to sell the zed in order to get a newer/better model though and i dont want to do that, so i've got to stick with the bag of nails option if i want one.
  19. Ill say it again, my Rangey costs me 45p a mile in fuel alone. Unless you have an oil well in the back garden the petrol V8's arent practical. Yup... pretty painful. For the miles i intend to do i cant justify throwing that money away.
  20. Okay - i've slept on it and changed my mind. Im not going to get it. I did my sums on the petrol vs the diesel last night and it's not pretty reading! It will cost me up to £50 out of my own pocket to go and visit some of my customers for work - even after i have received my fuel allowance! For example if i have to drive up to Glasgow, it will cost me £175 in fuel but i will only be paid £125. With a Diesel i will just about break even.
  21. Yep i've seen that white one on various sites, it looks pretty bad to be honest. I think i've probably made this silver one sound worse than it really is... like you say if the paperwork stacks up then it could be a good deal. I reckon there might even be some money in it if i tidy it up and return it to stock somewhat, as there are very few locally at this price point. It all depends on the mechanicals being sound... and to me the engine appeared to be spot on.
