  1. I vote Mike's version. The odd sizes of the letters on the original was... odd.
  2. Update... So i finally picked up the Porsche on Saturday morning, and spent the whole day in the car! So far what can i say? Firstly - Wow. This car is insanely fast. On paper it has a 5.0 seconds 0-60 time, but it feels in a completely different league to the zed. This may be down to the power delivery which is unusual... it feels like 2 different cars! 0-4k revs and it could be a Mondeo; It's easy to drive, ordinary, nothing special. But as soon as you go past 4k it feels like a hyper car! Holy sh!t it's fast, and within an instant you're traveling at license-losing speeds, it's scary quick! It has clearly been designed to cater for it's target market... it can be an ordinary car for your 50 year old business man, or it can be a true supercar when you want to push on. The handling is going to take little getting used to. The car feels planted... so much more than the Zed ever did. I guess that's the 4 wheel drive doing it's job, but i've never been able to push on in bad weather in any of my previous cars as i have so far in this. It's fantastic. However one thing that is going to take some serious getting used to is the light front end... with the engine over the rear wheels, the front tends to go light when going over bumps round a bend . It's going to take some getting used to to come to terms with how that feels! In terms of image... it's a bit of a change from the norm so far. Firstly the guys... i have a good bunch of workmates and we all hang out socially etc and are all interested in cars - however with the exception of 1 or 2, not a single person has had anything positive to say about it! The majority have simply said 'oh, right' when they've heard what i've bought. I don't want to sound like a tw@t and say that they're jealous, but when any of them get a new car like an A4 or a bloody mini, everyone talks about it for ages, but nobody's interested in my car Secondly, the girls. Again i dont want to sound like a dick but within the space of 2 hours on saturday morning i'd had 3 girls trying to check me out, either pedestrians or other motorists. Like properly giving me the eye and a smile . Normally it's guys that look at my cars! Anyway, i'm happy so far. I'll be happier when my Range sells as i'm going to pick up an old C Class Diesel as a cheap run about. For now though, here's a couple more pics, and a video of my brother doing a drive by (which looks and sounds crap for some reason!)
  3. Sorry for the slow replies... im working my ass off at the moment doing 15 hour days on a huge project at work. Well i'm all set and will be collecting the car shortly after 9am tomorrow morning. Cant wait. I'm not as excited as i have been with most other car purchases, as i'd say i'm quite nervous about things (having not had an inspection and knowing what can go wrong, i guess) but hopefully i'll be grinning soon enough. Tonight i've had a little play in photoshop adjusting the wheel colour. It's got 18" rims on it which have a very slight lip, so i've done a mockup to see how they'd look with dark centres. What do you think? I'm tempted to do this. Whenever you're ready! I'll be looking for excuses to take it out anytime! Cheers Pete. Not certain on the cost but from the little bit of info i could find i think around £68k? I could be way off the mark though so not sure. Cool i'll look into it, cheers. Just hearing it last week it sounded monstrous so i'll see how long it takes me to get bored.
  4. Hi guys, Mods if this is in the wrong place, apologies. I've just put my Range Rover Sport on Autotrader if anyone's interested. (awaiting advert link) Really reluctant to sell but i've got to do an awful lot of miles over the next few months for work so i've decided to go for a Focus or similar rather than suffer the depreciation on the Range. The car is fantastic to drive, surprisingly quick and a very nice place to be. It is a Black 2005 Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 HSE with 12 months MOT and 3 months Tax (lower tax bracket as pre-06). The price includes the 22" wheels and the standard 19" wheels, but I can negotiate on price if either aren't required. Current mileage is 119k miles but it is in daily use so will go up. It has a full service history with a cambelt change at 105k and last serviced at 115k. It also has the following features: Full black leather interior Sat Nav Front & rear heated seats Harmon Kardon speakers Auto-dip mirrors Electric seats Climate control Air con Cruise control Front & rear parking sensors Front & rear heated screens Xenons Tinted windows Air suspension Refrigerator. Price: £13,450
  5. Yep spent a week there a couple of years ago. Lovely place, really enjoyed it. As above, Trevi fountain is really nice. We did that vatican which i guess is a must see but it was more tiring than interesting. The Colosseum was good... surprisingly big and the tour was worthwhile. Have fun!
  6. Good question... i think i'll still take spatt up on his offer though, for old time's sake! The plate is not being sold with the car (well it is - but then i am to return it to him asap when the documentation comes through.)
  7. Okay, i think im sorted. I've just done a check via HPICheck.com which is much more detailed than the MyCarCheck which i'd done first time round. This has clarified the situation - it is listed as stolen and a total insurance loss against the VRM only, and it even states the car that the VRM was on at the time (Mitsubishi Evo - just as the seller stated). So, im happy that the Porsche is a safe bet and that it's not got a scary history. Phew. That was a stressful afternoon.
  8. Its in the middle... it's a garage but it's the owners personal car. No he didnt own the Porsche back in 2007 when the 'registration' was reported stolen.
  9. I cant find any HPI checks which check on just the VIN. The one i did allowed me to verify the VIN matches the details which were returned from the reg check, which it did.
  10. Also, is there anything wrong with buying a car that has been previously stolen? I always thought it was a no no but there doesnt seem to be any info on whether or not it should be reflected in the price? Also looking on www.autocheck.co.uk which is a different site from the one i used, they say : A vehicle's previous stolen status and when it was recovered will not be reported in your AutoCheck. So reading this if i had used these guys it may not have been listed as stolen as it is not a current crime?
  11. I should also point out that there are no reports of it being on the V car register or any insurance claims against it.
  12. Hi all, I've done an HPI check for a new car im buying using the private reg plate it's currently on, but it's come back with the following: Stolen - This registration was recorded stolen on the Police National Computer on 1 Jun 2007 by Greater Manchester Police. I've spoken to the owner who says that it was a car of his at the time (on that private plate) that was stolen and not the car im buying. He said if i check just the VIN it will come back fine. The story makes sense, but i've phoned up HPI to verify this and they dont know the answer. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of this please? I've also called GMP to ask them but they were unable to help me. I've found 2 places online who check only the VIN (after 2 hours of searching) - one checks the National Criminal Insurance Database and the other checks the police databases of 13 countries (none of them UK!!) and both of these have come back clear. However neither of these have checked the Police National Computer. Can anyone offer any advice here? If anyone can help i can PM you the VIN. Cheers.
  13. Sorry for the short replies, I'm on my phone on a night out celebrating!
  14. Well @*!#. I've only gone and bought it! No pre purchase inspection or anything. The car is as straight as an arrow. It looks brand new, engine and radiators are immaculate. Never had a rebuild but had been maintained by Hartech for most of its life. No smoke, the engine sounds perfect, it's been a very well looked after car. So deposit paid and im picking it up next saturday pending HPI check.
  15. Thanks Paul, will check those points out too. Price wise if there are issues with coolant leaks are they scary items too or something that shouldnt put me off too much?
  16. Cheers mate. Need some confidence buiilding! I'm going to see it at 12.30pm... fingers crossed!
  17. Yep it was Mike that i spoke to today. Spent about 20mins on the phone with him! Is he an Aussie? He had a bit if a twang...
  18. Yes, captain Phillips is the Tom Hanks true story film. Loved it. Also loved Prisoners, with Hugh Jackman.
  19. Captain Phillips. Best film i've seen in a very long time.
  20. Cheers Leon but my bro is coming with me. This will be the first one i've looked at. I called that specialist in Knutsford today and had a great chat with him, Gave me quite a few things to check. However i asked him what he would do in this situation, and it was quite a depressing answer. He said he'd get the inspection done including bore scope check (which i would be doing anyway) but also that regardless of it's history, he would spend £1100 pretty quickly and get the IMS uprated and a couple of other bits done to make sure it's as right as can be. This is a bit off putting to me (on a 15 year old car that i dont intend to keep for the long term.) Thanks for scaring me to death. Every other thread is IMS or £8k rebuild. Hopefully the place in Knutsford near me which i mentioned - only trouble is they reckon they're fully booked until April! They said to give them a call though after i've seen the car and they'll see if they can fit me in.
  21. last pic shows the front lip done, agree not so sure about the badges Oh yeah, haha. I didnt see that.
  22. Love the LEDs and the roof. Not sure on the B-pillars (cant tell from the pic but looks like different vinyl to the roof?) Not a fan of the badge though. Have you thought about doing the front lip? That would look good.
  23. Its the interior that made me want it! When i used to be into BMW's there was a very rare oxblood leather interior which looked very similar to this, but i couldnt find it anywhere in the UK at the time and i wanted it so badly.
  24. Drool. http://www2.autotrad...rsche?logcode=p This is near me so gonna give the guy a call and go take a look on Saturday. EDIT. I've txt the guy and will be going up there saturday morning.
