Hi folks... My drivers side headlight bulb went out a while ago, and i've only just got the time to fix it now (after 6 weeks!). Secondly, the same headlight is very cloudy on the inside - its not moisture, the clear plastic has gone weird! So, i've bought a new headlight off eBay, which is a non-HID unit. However, now i've just taken my headlight off tonight and i can see that its got the HID ballast on the bottom of it, so i must have HID headlights... My question is, can i retrofit the HID gubbins (technical term) from my current headlight onto the new non-HID unit? If not, then i'll have to do the old 'oven-trick' and swap the clear plastic lenses - which i dont fancy! Cheers Chris.

Cheers Phil, whats the price on that - is it still £59 delivered as i saw on a previous post? I drive 60 miles a day to and from work, so im gonna see if i can get the x-trials locally first thing tomorrow morning, as i dont want to drive thursday/friday if i dont have to. If i cant then i'll be ordering from you at about 11am - is this still early enough for the 1pm Friday delivery? Cheers mate, Chris.

Hey all... it always happens when you put you've got no money! My rear pads need replacing asap - its metal on metal on the left rear, so i cant drive it now. I've been searching for about an hour and can only come up with EBC Redstuff, or Nissan X-Trial pads as a replacement. Ideally i want to get these tomorrow - which pretty much rules out the Reds... i can pick up the x-trial pads locally. Can anyone confirm that x-trial pads are the correct fit? Cheers Chris.

I dont want to sell it but i've got a bad back, so here it is. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/401844.htm

Hey guys, I've only had it for 4 months but im gonna have to sell her. I've had a bad back for a couple of months, and i found out this week that i have 2 crushed discs! I've got to have an operation in April! So - im selling my baby and getting a 4x4 instead - this is my daily driver, and it hurts too much to get in and out - and im only 24! So, i'll be advertising it from April - where's the best place? My mate sold his Civic Type-R this week on Piston Heads, and it went within a week - i never use it, but is it worth a look (i was gonna use autotrader/local paper.) I'll still be around the forum - i'll be getting another z next year maybe if i recover properly! Cheers Chris.

My budget restricted me to an Import too, and i was adamant i wanted leather, but when i sat in the ST (jap version of the GT) i didnt like it at all. Being the ST it included the satnav, which is useless over here, and it had all japanese writing on the buttons which looked terrible. So, for £1k less i got the normal version, non-leather seats, and no japanese writing! And i love it.

Hi mate - thats really useful. I'll try and take a look this weekend. Legend.

But even doing this can you access the whole back of the headlight? Cos i had most of the bumper off and the lining bent right back just swapping my sidelights - and that was a nightmare!! Is it easy to remove the headlight - or at least pull it forward? Cheers for your reply by the way...

Hi All, My drivers side headlight went out today - the main beam (not full beam). I've been searching for the last hour, and i gather i cant tell if i have xenons/halogens without removing the bulb? i have an 03 JDM, basic spec. So, having looked around it seems that worst case scenario im looking at £60 for a pair of D2R Xenons... which isnt too bad - but how can i tell if the bulb has actually gone - could it be something else? Finally, how the hell do i remove the main beam bulb?! I swapped my sidelight bulbs about 3 weeks ago and there's no room to move behind there - any suggestions? This is quite a major problem for me cos im not gonna get chance to look at my car till the weekend, and i drive 30 miles a day in the dark! ...Help!

Around 9.30am, on the A619 is it? I was passing through on my way to center parcs for the day. Gave me a wave and i gave thumbs up!

What a jip - The *most* i've had out of mine is 327 miles... and that was driving pretty slow. I usually end up between 290 and 310 miles - and i drive a mix of town/mororway/A and B roads... I've got a JDM auto though (which has a smaller fuel tank apparantly - it still costs me £65 to fill up).

i couldn't afford to live in macclesfield only joking of course. thought about led's in the reflector but chose against it as i think it may be an audi fad but they seem ok. the pics you took don't reflect when your driving around with a zed up your jaxy at night which is when you'd really notice them. You're not wrong mate... i rent a house worth £130k, and there's more room in the back of my zed! I agree with the audi perspective, but i think it'll be the norm soon enough.... hasnt the new S-Class got LED's at the front?

Fair enough, now thats better! I was just a little that all you mentioned was my '17s' like 'oh, is that all you got?' and made no comment about the lights! I know the lights wont appeal to many on here, but then thats exactly why i got them - they were different, original, and i'd never seen it done before (until i found the thread where someone had done it, obviously ) I hated my bmw forums i was on sometimes... you had to conform to what everyone else liked, or else you weren't welcome. The standard welcome message to all newbies was "You need clears and a drop." - it was so tedious! Anyway, i've got to get my rest - i've got to do the other side tomorrow... or should i take them out?
-
But i was posting re: the lights, not the decals on my wheels. And what does having 2 zeds prove? The point i was making is that i can only just afford to keep this car, so the £3 i paid for the decals was worth it to me - obviously i want some nice 'time attacks' or whatever, but @*!#, i haven't got 20 quid spare let alone the £2k they'd cost me...

Sorry sarnie - we cant all afford the quality of gear you're used to. if you havent got anything nice to say then dont bother eh?

Hey guys... Went against most of your advice and bought these bumper reflector LEDs... Finally got round to fitting today (or 1 side at least... it was going dark so didnt bother starting the other side yet). Also put in some blue LED w5w sidelights... i bought white sidelights but whether they were crap bulbs or what, they didnt look right. So i've put in some blue ones that i had lying around. Mark - i got mine from Delsa motorsport too... good turnaround. And i also got the carbon/white led's style. See attached pics - its impossible to take pics at night of lights, but you get the idea! So lets hope the weather stays dry tommorrow so i can get the other side done... otherwise i'll be driving in circles!

Welcome buddy. Im 3 months in and is till love mine! (normally im trawling autotrader by now looking to see what i can aford...!) Take it easy with the weather. -
Adjustment eh? I've been meaning to post for ages about the quality of headlights... i've actually switched mine on and off to check if they're still working - i couldn't tell if they were on! And the worst part is when driving in the dark, i cant go over 40mph on the country lanes cos i cant see... i have a queue of cars behind me... and when someone is behind me their headlights light up everything to the side/infront, and my car casts a big shadow where my headlights should be!!!! Im sure they cant possibly be so bad... can we check adjustment ourselves or is it a job for a mechanic?

Did i say he had to do anything to the bmw? whats wrong with you you tool?!

I like the dashboard pic, thats smart. i thought i'd get more flamed than this, but in this case im not bothered... I dont want them as just 'chav lights', like tyre flies or something, but i see them more as a modern lighting method - like on the new Audi's (A5, R8 etc etc). I think they look awesome. I just want plain white led's. See the attached thread which i found today... This guys car, for me at least, is perfect. Love the lights, and the headlights actually... and also those eyebrows (which normally i hate but these make it look like the new GTR!!) Anyway... continue flaming! http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270017[/url]

Hey guys... Does anyone know if there's anywhere to get these in the UK? i can order from the states but with shipping they're about £60... which isnt too bad but i thought i'd check here first! And i've got my flame suit on so do your worst!
-
Suit yourself. i know which car i'd prefer to be driving.
-
Whats wrong with that? You telling me a saxo or a punto is better than a bmw??
-
Dude... get a 316 bmw like the green one in my sig. Car was only £3k, and its only insurance group 11. And at your age thats a cool car to have. i had that at 21 and with no no claims, it was £1100. I'd had a crash the year before.

Ok bit more of an update... The noise is definitely from the right rear wheel, and is no-longer initiated by turning. It does it at any speed and any direction. The noise is directly linked to wheel rotation i.e. something in the rear wheel assembly is touching on something at a certain point of rotation. Does anyone know what the handbrake setup on these cars is? Cos i had something similar on my black bmw and the shoes were adjusted incorrectly making them permanently 'on' a tiny amount, which wore them out and eventually made a metal on metal noise.
