  1. Good conversation this guys. Maybe i had prematurely ruled out the mk3 MR2's then... i'll take a second look. I always hated the porsche lights on the front though. In terms of tracks, it'll primarily be the baby drift track at Oulton as thats a hoot. Speed's not an issue as you dont get above 30mph. Will be some propper track work too though, most likely Oulton and Donnington i'd imagine. RX8 is the front runner at the moment though I feel...
  2. Would have replied sooner but got stuck on a work call. It's in reference to my several recent threads Dan - that every other day im bouncing between getting an R8, an F-Pace, a 60's Mustang, or this week a track car. I almost went to see a Mustang last week but bottled it. Although Strudel - i wont be getting a Fastback - far too much money. Would be a notchback style most likely.
  3. Yeah thats my understanding too. I wanted something a bit newer. I think the mk2's and the MR2's look a bit too dated now. I know this is a pointless consideration for a track car, but its what im thinking.
  4. So after torturing myself for the last few months over what car to get next... this week im feeling like i'll put things off for 12 months or so and get myself a cheap track car instead. At the moment im thinking road legal, not particularly fast, must be RWD, and under £2.5k. Im leaning towards a mk3 MX5 (maybe CAT C or D for my budget) or an RX8 - but the reliability is quite off putting as i could be buying a lemon. Other options could be an e30 BMW but they seem hard to find at that budget these days (unless you want a 316 auto), or occasionally a Porsche 924 or 944 comes up around that budget. I had considered an IS200 as they're RWD and was briefly tempted by Tarmac's for sale at the moment, but i want something a bit more fun to drive. Longer term i may buy a trailer to tow it to track days but not right now. Reviews on the mk3 MX5 say its not great and not as good as previous gen cars... but surely for RWD fun it's got to be right up there hasnt it??
  5. I think it's the Tiguan SE-Nav. He's got cloth seats but plenty of electronics. Its the crappy dash plastics that really let it down, as well as the apparent lack of sound deadening leading to a cheap sounding cabin noise. Not sure whether either of those would be cured with an R. Compared to my 11 year old Range Rover Sport it's not half as nice in my opinion (and i HATE my interior!)
  6. I've sat in an F-Pace and wasnt particularly impressed with the interior quality, but my friend's just bought a 66-plate Tiguan and it's a real let down if you ask me. I'd want a lot more car for my money. Very average (although the ICE is quite nice). The 14-on X3 and 15-on X5's look good. Not been in one yet but the interior pics look great. You should be able to find a Q5 with the Virtual Cockpit though which might be appealing!
  7. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/4061-has-my-350z-got-esp/ Sounds like your ESP. In fairness though, in almost 6 years of Zed ownership, my ESP only kicked in once - when i was on track at Donnington. So either you were seriously pushing on or you've got crappy tyres??
  8. Well, the prepper within me wants this to happen. I've got a good selection of the essentials from the site below, but might need to get a couple of gas masks soon. I've got all the weapons you'd need though. http://www.preppersshop.co.uk/
  9. That's a nice looking 1'er. This is driving me mad... every single day i change my mind. Yesterday i was adamant i'd get an R8 later in the year. Today im thinking i'll sell my RRS, buy a cheaper 4x4, and get an old Mustang asap. Tomorrow i'll be back to the F-Pace probably. Arghhhhh.
  10. Why adjust the price? Sounds like you got a slice of good fortune so sell them for what they're worth.

I want an R8 and im going to make it happen this year, i hope. Not because its the most dynamic, or the most desirable, but because it's the most accessible 'supercar' based on price. 10 years ago you could get a Ferrari 355 for £35k... wish they were still that price as i'd rather a prancing horse for the money, but the R8 will do for now.
  14. Your car looks great, please dont ruin it.
  15. Boxing... meh. It's too corrupt for me, too many dodgy decisions which ruin the sport. Tyson was my favourite, but used to follow Lewis and Calzaghe quite closely. Dont rate any of the current crop, apart from AJ obviously. Much more of a UFC fan. I've probably watched 90% of the UFC events from the last decade. Love it. Big one tonight again too.
  16. Im in Biddulph! But not Jag.
  17. Yeah not driven one yet - but then im unlikely to be tracking it so im only going to be using 30% of it's potential on the road daily so im not that bothered about the dynamics. And it looks waaay better than an RS4.
  18. Whats your financial plan in 2-3 years time?? Buying a car is never a good way to save money if you have a specific financial goal in mind. Even if a R8 doesn't loss money your still spend money keeping the thing on the road. If your waiting for the current RR sport to depreciate than why not just keep your current car for 2 years?? But if you just want a new car don't over think things and just buy what you want, man maths and cars hardly ever make financial sense No financial plan... My aim is to keep my monthly outgoings on cars roughly the same indefinitely (excl maintenance). I could get an RRS now for the same price as an R8, but I currently drive the old shape RRS so im thinking whats the point. I might as well get an R8 (orother car) for a couple of years to enjoy.
  19. Right... been stewing on this for the last 2 weeks, and all i seem to keep coming back to is the R8. Im thinking get one of these for < £40k... enjoy it for 1-2 years by which time the current shape Range Rover Sport will have depreciated further - so then sell the R8 for what i paid for it, buy an RRS and get a 60's Mustang. I was driving along yesterday thinking to myself 'my current car's fine, i dont need and R8. In fact, screw Audi' etc etc... and literally that very second as i was having this argument with myself, an R8 drove past on the other side of the road and ruined what i was trying to make myself believe. It must have been a sign.
  20. I did this on my G-Wagen. It completely killed it. Covered anything sensitive meticulously, but it would never turn over again after that. Killed the starter motor somehow.
  21. Slight change of plans... looks like we're going to go to Thailand in June, and then Texas later in the year.
  22. Speedo is controlled by a fuse in the foot well. Double check them to start with. If the pod has stopped working too the white box behind the AC controls might be knackered?
  23. Nice. Im very tempted by one of these. Has it got the full digital gauge cluster with uprated stereo package, or standard?
