  1. A couple of my colleagues were talking about it today and they were saying they wouldn't be surprised if America was behind the poisoning in order to frame Russia.
  2. Yeah but thats just semantics. You're right, I haven't got £40k sat in the bank so no, I cant afford the car. But i own it, it's on my drive, i'm making the payments, and i've averaged 13mpg in my first 200 miles. Horses for courses I guess. I'm getting smiles per gallon with the fuel economy but tax is just money in the bin. As i dont see value in it I dont want to pay it. Im just really tight with money! I'll happily pick up 5p off the floor.
  3. Roughly 3 million new cars are sold in the UK every year, and about 85% of those are financed via deals similar to the OP's and the one i've just signed up to, so deals of this nature are very much the norm. The stigma attached to financing a car is a really old fashioned point of view in my opinion. You're right though - its obviously cheaper to buy a used car rather than new, but its also a choice - I chose for the first time in my life to splash out on a new car as a treat to myself (at age 34, same as you Andy!). Even if I had £40k cash spare, I wouldn't be spending it on a car. And again - saying if you care about a £500 tax bill you cant afford to buy the car, its utter tosh! I care about the tax bill and I can afford the car! You don't get rich by throwing money away.
  4. So i'm the idiot for being financially savvy and not wanting to throw £400 a year in the bin on road tax unnecessarily. Good one. You're right, I am putting my self in serious financial risk. Maybe you could give me some financial advice seeing as you're successful enough to be buying a GTR? Any help would be appreciated. You can yawn all you want pal. Look, i can do it too.
  5. I beg to differ! This week i've bought a new car priced at a smidge under £40k because if spending over £40k you have to pay £540 annual tax as opposed to £140. I don't want to waste money unnecessarily.
  6. I dont understand this logic at all... If only £11k is leaving his bank account in that period, how can he be losing £21k!? To the OP, i think this sounds like a really good deal based on PCP deals of similar cars. The only thing I would question is buying a 2018 370z in the first place, when they're essentially a 10 year old car at this point. I'd want something a lot newer for my money.
  7. I decided to go for the insurance in the end. With the gloss black rims, the slightest kerb mark is going to show up prominently, so I wanted that piece of mind.
  8. Well, it's been a long week but the wait is almost over... just 2 more sleeps to go! This is probably my favourite part of getting a new car to be honest... I pick the Mustang up on Monday night after work. I hope this beast from the east pt 2 has thawed out by then.
  9. Hey, thanks for the info. What is Ten Mustang, i can't find anything online about this? I'll check out the FB group, and i've already signed up to Mustang6g.com
  10. Fantastic. Put some pics up please when you get back.
  11. I've just got a new job as a Software Development Manager and our company is in the fuel card industry, with a multi-billion pound turnover. There are literally hundreds of active projects with fuel suppliers, distributors, networks etc across the globe. I brought up the future of EV's at my interview and asked what the future holds in this area, and whether there is a big push to integrate EV's into our product offerings, and they said there isn't. Within my my first week a request from a major fuel network who we've all heard of came in, to work on a proof of concept project to offer an electric fuel card - and our bosses all knocked it back and said they weren't interested! I was really surprised and thought when a major player like that comes to us first to test out a proof of concept with the potential that EV's appear to have we'd have been all over it. My bosses are the experts though so it could be a good indicator that the future is far from certain.
  12. Man... i'd love to drive Laguna Seca... Might have to put that on my bucket list.
  13. Keep posting GZ. I like EV's and I agree they will be the future. I'd happily have one now. The constant bashing and digs at your posts on here by others is ridiculous. If you dont like GZ or EV's, read another thread instead of trolling this one.
  14. Oops, got those digits in the wrong order somehow. I meant its 4784, so that'll leave me 11cm spare front and back,
  15. Progress looks good. I pick up my Mustang in a few days and i've just measured my garage. Width is fine as it's a double, but length... my garage is 5000mm and the 'Stang is 4478mm so it's going to be pretty close... phew!
  16. That is stunning, what a brilliant job.
  17. Check out the drift days at Oulton Park. Easy, safe, doesnt hurt your car or tyres. Here is me and my mate last year. http://player.vimeo.com/video/222959151
  18. What are people’s thoughts on wheel and tyre insurance? Ford are offering me this for 3 years for £250. I can make something like up to 10 claims for wheel refurbishment and the same again for new tyres within that period if they’re damaged. Sounds like a good price, but I’m not sure if it’s worthwhile or not. In fairness though with the gloss black alloys and the style of the spokes I can see them being kerb magnets. What at would you guys do?
  19. I've just listed this on eBay with a £999 start price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273099981215?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  20. Only just seen this. Yep i'll pop over, a visit is well over due!
  21. Well... sorry to keep you all waiting. I wanted to get my ducks in a row before i posted again. The TT was due to be picked up tomorrow, but after 5 calls I finally got through to speak to Audi and cancel the order at the weekend. I spun a yarn about getting my maths wrong and not being able to afford it. They were disappointed, but accepting. I spent about 4 hours at the Ford dealership on Saturday and test drove a Mustang 5.0 V8 Auto. The roads were wet/cold, and the dealer spanked it around the industrial estate initially, getting it fully sideways a couple of times. Nice to see they know how to sell a car of this nature. Anyway, it was a dream to drive - much nicer than I was expecting, although I wasn't pushing on as it was pretty treacherous. Everything just felt sharp, responsive and on point. We spent quite a while trying to find a car with the spec I wanted. We got close, but not quite perfect. I wanted the Pro sound system and Sat Nav and Reverse parking sensors but the only cars with reverse sensors had the heated seats too which I didn't want (@ £500 and not very good). So I saved myself £25 per month and skipped the reverse sensors/heated seats. It's got a rear camera as standard anyway so its not the end of the world. Anyway on to the best bit - I've got the car on a 0% deal for 38 months. I've only put £1500 deposit in as the money is better off being in my account seeing as its interest free. I really beat them up on the price, so much so that they're actually losing £900 by selling this car to me! The facelift model comes out in July and they've got a surplus of pre-facelift cars which they're struggling to shift. If they dont sell them in time, the dealership has to buy them from Ford and then they'll make a massive loss on each car, so it's better for them to sell to me at a small loss now. Crazy, but i'm not complaining. So i've got a £1500 deposit, 38x monthly payments at £475, then a £18700 GFV payment at the end if I wish to keep it, which i'm sure I will be doing. 3 year old V8's today are still over £30k so if that trend continues i'm sure to have around £10k equity in the car hopefully. My car arrived at the dealership today so I went to take a look at it. I've chosen the Grabber Blue colour which is the lighter one on the left. I definitely made the right decision in my opinion. The car is ready to collect later this week, but I'm delaying it until the 19th March as that pushes my first payment out until May, which'll help as i'm selling my Range Rover privately. In terms of mods, Dan, I asked them and they said that modding is fine and to crack on! First order of business will be a roof wrap and stripes either in gloss black or gloss carbon fibre. Going to add a pinstripe to the outer edge of the stripes too, in one of red/orange/yellow I think. It'll need an exhaust at some point too I think, but i'll worry about that in a couple of months. Anyway, here's a few pics.
  22. Despite being an RS, i'm not a hatchback guy... I've never liked them. I think out of the Audi range the TT is the most appealing. Good shout though about swapping to an alternative. One to consider for sure.
  23. Cheers guys, Still been unable to get hold of the Audi dealer so you might be right - they could be avoiding my calls, either that or snowed in at home like the rest of the country. Dan - good point on the T&C's RE mods, i'll be sure to check it out.
  24. Cheers guys. Jim - i'm with you, i've already been scoping out which mods i'll be doing. I feel like I did 6 or 7 years ago when I had my last zed. As i'll be buying on a PCP i think i'll need to be careful about what mods i do, making sure they're all reversible etc. I definitely be adding a gloss black roof wrap with black stripes (and maybe a red pinstripe).
