  2. ...well i did get 40p per mile until i got my new job, which is now 25p cos i get a nice car allowance too...
  3. Banana bar? No idea, just see it mentioned when people have suspension knocks.
  4. No point buying a nice car like a Z then putting a crappy fleabay Chinese knock off in it ...? Who's got a knock off??
  5. I had a Pioneer from the Avic series... very impressive units and would buy again... although they are pricey.
  6. Very nice... but your front wheel should be turned the other way for the perfect pic.

    Alfa 8C

I saw the 8C coupe and spyder at the London Motorshow in 2008... 2nd best car there behind the Ferrari F40. Its beautiful.
  8. Good point, well made. Never had that money in the first place... so shouldnt really miss it. ... but on fuel alone im throwing away £208 a month...
  9. For me its the software that it'll be running... If you look at these fake iphones and fake ipods etc... they look the same, perform similar functions, but the user interface just doesnt have the investment of the big companies, and they can just be awkward to use, slow, buggy etc etc...
  10. Thats Mint...! Well done Mart, and congrats Al...!!
  11. Windows Movie Maker is pretty good, although it is tempremental on my pc...
  12. Absolutely shocked, and am very sad to hear this. Only met ian once... he was late for the Krispy Kreme meet as he'd been playing footy...
  13. Andy - what a post mate!!!!!! You've just sold it to me. You're totally right - the zed will be my sanctuary from the stress of the new job. Cheers.
  14. 30k a clutch... ouch?! I hadnt thought of that... my previous zed was an auto...! I know what you're saying, and it is a fairly large chunk of money to be throwing away... 2 years of cheap driving and i'll be able to by a zed outright with the change... Maybe i do need to think this through further...
  15. You are absolutely right here Pete - i do drive very quick but employing all of the principles you describe here... i can get home from work without using my brakes. I couldnt bare spending £3-5k on a repmobile, and then another £10k on a zed for the weekend. I dont believe the zed is a weekend car, if i was doing that, i'd get an elise probably, or a caterham. The zed is an accomplished GT car when it needs to be, and a weekend special when you want to get your foot down.
  16. Thanks for that Mark... so this multi maps issue... how would i go about changing between the 2...? For example if i wanted to drive economically in the week, and have fun at weekend? And roughly, are we talking about saving 1-2mpg, 7-8mpg?? Why do i want a zed...? Because its an awesome car. I just wish i could flick a switch in it and only use half of the engine to save fuel when i dont need the performance What i dont want is a boring rep-mobile just for the good economy.
  17. Well... i sold my zed earlier this year for several reasons, but im looking to get another one early next year once a few things are sorted. However, i've got a new job at work meaning i'll be on the road a lot - probably doing 25k a year. My company will be paying me 25p per mile though. So, ignoring depreciation 25k miles @ 25p = £6250 25k miles in a zed @ 25mpg = £5221 (£1k in my pocket) 25k miles in a diesel @ 50mpg = £2724 (£3500 in my pocket) As you can see, by not getting a diesel, i'll be throwing away around £2500 every year...! So - what are my options to get the best fuel economy in a zed...? Im thinking one of those throttle controllers and possibly a remap...? But if i got the remap, is my zed going to be @*!# to drive etc...? I dont want to get a 2nd car alongside the zed. Any thoughts?
  18. Maybe he had a crate of beer in there...?
  19. dont bother with the discs mate +1
  20. Yep, every winter my fuel consumption dropped from 28mpg to 16mpg for the winter months. Very annoying. I believe it's because the air is denser and heavier, so the car burns more fuel to match the air ration...
  21. As a guide, i spent around £700 on non-brembo brake upgrades last year, and it wasnt worth it. The non-brembos are just too small for the car. I uprated to grooved and vented DBA discs @ £300+, Endless VN pads @ £110+ and braided lines... + standard rear discs. This was considered a fast road setup, but they took far far too long to warm up, meaning that standard performance was very poor.
  22. You can move them if you want... its just a rocket switch. If you choose where you want to mount them, just take the cable off the back and extend the wire, and attach to 2 new rocker switches which can be bought in halfords for about a fiver. ...picking the place to mount them is the hard part though.
  23. +1 i can relate to 90% of this and was born in 83, although i did have an older brother and sister who were born in the 70's, so my upbringing was probably influenced by them. Good post.
