  2. Try the club insurers, not all insurers are on price comparison sites etc...
  3. It is not as easy as you think, you need a 'laid up' policy but not many insurers offer this.
  4. Are you able to find a review site with nothing but good reviews for an insurer? Take them with a pinch of salt
  5. Yes it is a modification which needs declaring, if you chose your insurance company wisely then it will not effect your insurance premium.
  6. I am surprised we were uncompetitive, if you PM me your details (name and postcode) and the best price you have been quoted, I would be happy to look into this. Thanks
  7. As mentioned, the groupings are rough guides only, S2000's carry horrendous claims/loss ratios, for us they are much more of a risk than 350Z's.
  8. The revised groupings will make little or no difference to the price you pay, they are only there a a rough guide and insurers use their own ratings generally. You need to worry more about rising personal injury claims, fraudulent claims and increasing car repair costs pushing up the prices. Ollie Sky Insurance
  9. Good stuff. I'd look at getting the modirfications confirmed in writing, I have seen people have their fingers burnt in the past by using standard insurers for modified (even costmetic) cars.
  10. Thanks for the comment, if you PM me your details I will see if we can be any more competitive. How are Sheilas wheels with the modifications?
  11. Yes, to clarify, this is a standard loading. The policy underwriter has this standard loading across the board for this modification.. the same modification on a different car could give a huge power increase, also, this modification coupled with other modifications would also significantly increase the power. The leading is similar if not more relaxed with this underwriter in comparions to other specialist underwriters. I appreciate in this case it may have been done for the MPG aspect but we have to look at the bigger picture. We get customers who try things on (not saying the customer is in this case at all), eg I've added this boost controller but I will only be running standard boost, or I have fitted the nitrous kit, but I'll never use it on the road etc. Thanks and have a good weekend everyone Ollie Sky Insurance
  12. Not picking on you on purpose out of Porsche 911 jealously Dan but the above would only happen at the investigation stage, it would not happen at quote stage or during a policy unless there is a claim. I do not want 350Z-UK members thinking that we are here looking for undislosed modifcations, we have nothing to gain by that and I would have serious objections to it. Thanks Ollie Sky Insyurance
  13. A good post, all apart from the 'probably not', which I would change to a 'maybe not'. Ollie Sky insurance
  14. For goodness sake guys, of course a remap can be spotted, and trust me it probably would be if you had a high value claim . Run someone down and an insurer will do some very careful investigations, they have employees trained for this sort of thing, it is not hard to tap into a car's ECU and look at the map, max boost reading etc. As mentioned, there are insurers who cater for modified cars so why risk it?? 15. My company can usually 'mirror' NCB over to the second car , have you spoken to us? tel: 0208 3645500 Please make it very clear you are a 350z-uk.com member if you call us
  16. It will differ between insurers but the trend does seem to be that keeping the car on a driveway is cheaper than in a garage, there have been a higher volume of claims from cars kept in garages than on driveways.
  17. Did you try my company? TEL: 0208 3645500.
  18. Hi, thanks for trying us, as I said, the £295 you have been quoted is incredibly low. Whilst Sky Insurance are usually competitive for standard vehicles , we are much better for the modified examples. If you are planning modifications, it is worth checking how much you will be charged. You may find they charge an extra £300 for adding a set of alloy wheeel which suddenly makes our price competitive, I've seen it time and time again. With regards to the arrangement fee, we are a broker, this is one way we make our money. All brokers have arangement fees, just not all disclose them to the customer over the phone Thanks for your feedback. Ollie Sky Insurance
  19. £325 on any 350Z is a very good price. If you are planning modifications, feel free to try my company as a comparison, we specialise in modified and import car insurance, we also offer a discount to 350Z-UK members.
  20. Contrary to popular belief there is more than one club insurer.
  21. We cannot win them all unfortunately but thank you for trying us. You may find that we can include more in our policy (eg modifications covered like for like). Also, if our rate is uncompetitive you are welcome to refer it back to us in light of a better price elsewhere
  22. fair enough, things are often misinterpreted on car club forums, it is wise to point out in this case that running with an undeclared exhaust potentially means running with a void insurance policy. The only advice to give in this case would be to cancel and insure with a modification friendly insurer.
  23. Ace, feel free to call my company on 0208 3645500, please mention your membership of this club!
