Hi Chris, it is almost impossible for me to comment, a couple of months ago we were strictly over 25's on 350Z's but this has been relaxed now and we look at each case on it's own merit. Without knowing your full details I am unable to say why we declined to quote you on the vehicle. I am not saying this is the case with you but say we had a 22 year year old with 4/5 years NCB and experience of driving a 350Z or similar then we would look to insure them. If we had a 24 year old with 1 years NCB and a dodgy postcode, we would not quote them. Insurance is all about the risk profile. It is hard to explain but I hope that gives you more of an indication. Hi, we cannot insure everyone and unfortunately our underwriters chose not to insure you on the vehicle due to your age. I am sure there are many, many other insurance comapnies who would not entertain an insurance quote for a 21 year old on a 350Z. Kind regards Ollie Sky Insurance

You are contradicting yourself a bit there! You say that young drivers are the most dangerous but then you go on to say that it is 'rape' that one of your (assume 17 year old) student is paying £2500 to insurance a 182BHP renault Clio. If you could see the claims stats and payouts for 17 year olds, you would realise that the prices being charged for insurance are in line with the risks presented. Would YOU want to insure a 17 year old on a car like a Clio 182 which icidentally has one of the worst claims loss ratio out of all the cars on the road in the UK?? £2500 sounds like a cheap price to me! The postcode restrictions are there for a good reason, that reason is high claims/loss ratio in the restricted post code areas. By saying no to these areas it makes us very competitive for the lower risk areas.. not great for you, but fantastic for others.

We would struggle with this due to your age unfortunately.

It is always worth comparing these companies with insurance specialists like Sky. We have always covered modifications on a like for like basis, and we understand what modifications are, you will not have to spend a huge amount of time explaining what a modification is and what it does. My personal opinion is that a specialist (modified) car deserves a modifed car insurance specialist It is also worth trying us for any multi car policies etc.. we can 'mirror' your NCB which usually makes us very competitive, quite often we smash the prices offered by these multi car companies Ollie Sky Insurance

This is why it pays to pick your insurance compamy very carefully.. if you are planning on modifying the car then you should pick an insurance company who will understands the mods and will not penalise you for adding them to your car. As stated, the cancellation charges will be decided by your insurer, not by your broker. Also, you are making an issue of this 6 months after you have been in receipt of policy document which will list cancellation charges in detail. My company actually read the canceallation charges out over the phone before the customer takes their policy. You can never really compare one quote to another as there are so many variables with insurance quoting. The only way to find out is to phone around for a few quotes. Try the usual suspects and then give Sky a call, we'll try our very best to beat your 'best price'. Regards Ollie Sky Insurance
