Could he not even tell you where it's been serviced. Then you can chase up the Independent or Nissan dealer? Bit of peace of mind for you, and surely wouldn't be any skin off his nose to tell you, unless he hasn't been 100% honest about it's previous servicing.

Driving night time, anywhere, from about 10pm-2am is good. Especially during the week Monday - Thursday. So less likely to come across idiots. Oh, and add Summer or Spring, or even early Autumn (when the roads are dry), window down a bit. Happiness. Same as above, but in the weekends, from about 5am-7.30am, hardly a soul around.

Just another thought Zaz, they've been evacuating people to other centres, ie to Wellington and Auckland. They've been asking people here, not to use the phones so all the systems are as freed up as possible.

No problem Ricey, happy to help. Liquefaction certainly is crazy. They keep showing a clip of it here, in a swirl pool. That alone has caused a lot of damage. Cars buried or half buried because of it.

I'd say being seen is absolutely paramount. I always run whatever car I'm driving with lights on, whether it's a sunny day, or overcast. You often get little flashing hand signals/flashing lights, so I smile and wave, excellent they've seen me. How about you try the same. It's not legal here yet to run with lights on, but the insurance councils have been trying for a long time to have it changed. To me it only makes sense.

Hi Zaz, yes it will be still quite difficult to contact people. If they try Red Cross international number, but keep trying due to overloading, they maybe able to help. Still as at last night about 65k houses without power, water, cell phone towers are damaged or out of backup/generator battery etc. The structural damage of utilities is causing issues, as is the liquefaction. Hope your crew's family/friends are ok.
